People are still taking this thread seriously?

We've already found:
- HiDPI mode can be enabled on the Mac Pro, just like the MacBook Pro.
- OP isn't paying attention to people telling him that and complains about text being too small, even after being giving the exact solution to fix his problem.
- He commands the thread to find him a new monitor, again ignoring the fix.
- People continue to pretend this is a serious thread. These people for some reason also ignore that Retina output can be enabled.

C'mon now. This guys has about enough business talking seriously about nice monitors as a toddler has flying a 747. He's just throwing money at things he doesn't understand, and then has no idea how to set them up or use them. Assuming it's not just a troll account to begin with.

Let the thread die.

Man, I wish you provided this kind of summary for a lot of other threads here... it would save me a lot of time! :p :D

And, by the way, the "s" is completely silent and the first "e" is a hard "a" with the accent subtlety on the second syllable - it's pronounced "'fray nell´' lens". ;)

Now theres a debate!

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fresnel lens

Seems you can pronounce it either way. Frez or Fray when referencing it using speech but if you are French then yes, Jean Fresnel uses a silent s. But either way seems accepted. Interestingly the US uses Fray where in the UK we (well all the lecturers at my University) used Frez or Fres. Personally after looking into this, I agree with you, we should use Frey.. respecting the research done by J.F and will henceforth say it differently now :D

Whoa whoa whoa people!!! Careful what you say about this guy. You know he could go pro in MMA if he wanted. Mind those lips or he'll knock 'em off...with his fist...

or his foot...

or...

his ELBOW!!!

Dude, the 4k display is going to give you a HiDPI 1080p display. Unless you run it at a 4k resolution, then you will whine about the text being too small (because you are running such a high resolution).

It's obvious you don't need a 4K display and just have more money than you know what to do with. 4K displays are for two things. Running HiDPI 1080 or running a 4k resolution for added workspace. That's it.

MacPro, 4K display, and I bet all you do is surf the web. What a waste.

Bought a NEC 302 as well for a couple grand with the Spectraview II thingy.

If I like it I will get more!

Also, have been playing Sim City with all the settings on Maximum in 4K with my Mac Pro. Awesome!

Sim City, are you serious? Probably the best part of £20k on hardware and you play the Sim City? You are too hard-core for me.

----------

I really need advice as to what to order.

I am returning this monitor today.

The text is so small it's unbearable.

Should I just get six Apple Cinema Displays? They are so old now though :(

I think you might be able to get away with any old crappy 19" TFT for Sim City.

----------

I seriously need assistance with this matter. Can you just summarize what you'd like me to do?

Read the reviews and make up your own mind. These monitors are far too new for to be bought in great numbers. You probably know more about them than anyone as you have one.

If it were me I'd return it and take a step back. Buy a couple of decent 27" monitors from Dell, Eizo, NEC, etc and save your cash for when 4K is ready. Being at the cutting edge costs way too much compared to the advantage that it may give you.

Now that I am running in HiDPI mode I don't mind this 4K Monitor anymore.

Will see how I like the NEC 30".

I appreciate your words but the amount I have spent on this computer is really but chewing gum money. No big deal. Dinners cost me more than this.

I believe everything he says. I have to go now as I need to find a picture on google to prove I own a Ferrari for another posting. I wish I hadn't posted it was green with blue stripes.

I do thank Homie who recommended HiDPI mode. The monitor is actually usable now.

Spoke to my friend who won an Academy Award for something, discussing Final Cut Pro, and my Mac Pro, he said, "It's like giving someone a Ferrari with no Engine." - "You don't need it and don't know how to use it."

This is what we were all thinking when you were talking about buying the mac pro with full specs. I'm glad you've finally understood what you've done. Btw your fully speced mac pro is actually slower for what you do had you just bought the base mac pro. The 4 core's single core benchmark's easily beat the 12 core. Basically you bought an incredibly niche product aimed at a certain user.

Consumer stuff like your veyron or the road car level ferrari's are basically better the more options you put in. But the mac pro is basically a formula one car. Is the formula one car faster on a straight track than a veyron . No. But it does what it does well which is racing around the racing track. If you tried to use the F1 car for going to and from the supermarket you could but its gonna be a terrible ride compared to veyron.

Why act like this?

I realized this as soon as a I get it but it looks nice on the table and I genuinely do not miss the money anyways.

Least it can play Sim City and Diablo in 4K in Ultra!

Least we concluded I paid nearly $4K for a 4K Monitor and run it in 1080 HiDPI...

Can't wait for my NEC 302W to get here on Friday!

I know how to spell. You, do not.

Yes, but you can still work on your grammar.

A cache is a hiding place used for storing provisions or valuables, or (2) a concealed collection of valuable things. The word also functions as a verb meaning to hide or store in a cache.

Cachet refers to a mark or indication of superior status, or prestige. The word is is usually a mass noun (meaning it is treated as a quantity and can’t be pluralized), but it’s a count noun in some rarer senses.

I know how to spell. You, do not.

I know how to speak (and write) French. You do not. Both cache and cachet are French words adopted into English.

It's not cache. And if it was cache it would be spelled caché, because cache is pronounced "cash."

If you consult dictionary.com or any other dictionary ever published you will see that you are not correct.

Easy, I have been chastised by the moderators multiple times now for calling out this guy. He is trolling you guys...plain and simple. He has yet to show any proof that he owns anything.

You are correct, it is cachet. But he doesn't need to know how to spell, he has servants who can do that for him. Again, it's AMAZING that a troll can generate a five page thread...

I agree. It is so obvious. He must be pleased so many people suck it up. He isn't even trying very hard :)
