Yeah I've already tried to buy one of the mavids ones but they go in and out of stock so quickly I've lost my patience with it.

I don't mind the USB port thing as I was going to buy a USB 3.0 PCI-E card anyway, I just wanted to see if I need a specific thing to be compatible with the OSXWIFI card.

I am from the UK so sending back isn't quite so easy..

Gotcha, you'll be very limited in choices for USB 3.0 with internal ports, but there are a few, especially if you don't mind rigging up an internal power connection. I have an Orico card that has 2 internal USB connections, but it requires additional power to be split off from one of your drives. It uses the FriscoLogic controller so it's compatible with most everything. Amazon carries them.

Thanks so much for the help, I don't suppose you know the exact model number of your card? I've been looking on amazon but I can't seem to see any that would be suitable, cheers.

No I don't off the top of my head, I'll try to get by Tuesday, that's the earliest I can get to it.

I know it's a little off topic, but I ordered this solution for my Hackintosh:

$_12.JPG

http://www.ebay.com/itm/201140406017

It is the Apple BCM943224PCIEBT2 (BT 4.0/802.11n) with an prewired adapter to simply plug into my motherboard's USB header. Bonus is that it has a full size USB port on the board you can use for anything. I plan to plug in my Logitech Unifying dongle that I use for my Wireless Solar Keyboard for Mac. That way it will be like even my Logitech stuff is "built in!"

Where to buy "Convert Card"

Does anyone know where (eBay, Taobao, etc.) to buy the "Convert Card" shown in the original post? It's the card with "X51A" written on it; see attached image.

According to the first post, it is the seller on TaoBao (http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.10.91QEa2&id=20953715880) and email (133557@qq.com). I have tried emailing but do not get a response.

Anyone know where else it can be purchased?

Thank you! :)

Convert card

Hi

I've bought the Broadcom BCM94360CD card and a adapter same as these :

However, the adapter does not have a Data+/Data- connector and I was wondering if I could do the same as another member here has done for his imac :

Also, I assume I do not have to solder a cable for the power part (R1).

TIA

Question, I ordered the adapter from MacVidCards for my 4,1 and when I get it in which drivers will I need for Windows 8.1? Do I just use one of the x64 drivers from the BCSS 5.1.5621 package or do I need a newer copy of the BCSS?

i found this seller have complete package included both USB signal & BT antenna extended cable , and with pretty good price, already ordered, just waiting it arrive :p

Curious how USB connects, they go out of their way to not tell you.

The "reach around" method with USB cable poking out and into USB plug is rather inelegant.

received it today, pretty fast delivery :D

very handy, they made the custom USB signal cable for the adapter and the connector to the 4,1 logic board USB signal connector , just fit and and work ! you no need to modify the connector form original bluetooth card at your 4,1/5,1, only thing is those antenna connectors are quite small , have to very carefully connect them, small hand guy like me is ok

Alas, no go. I took everything apart so I could get good access. I gave the PCIE female connector a thorough cleaning with compressed air. Put it all back together and the same issue persists. Bluetooth but no WIFI.

I've ordered another BCM94360CD card off ebay for cheap. Just seems strange to me that bluetooth works via the PCIE and not the WIFI considering its an integrated unit.

See attached image for wire hookups. I think they are fine though.

Did the replacement card work? I'm seeing a similar issue, where it can't see the wifi but sees a bluetooth card under usb devices but doesn't recognise it as a bluetooth card.

I have 94360CD card that was using but I decided to use it for my MacPro5,1. I ordered an adapter and read thru guide in #1 post but I notice my wifi card only has two antenna connector?

I don't think it'll work as WIFI adapter, since that needs the PCI Express interface. This is going to be bluetooth only I am afraid (the BT part of the card requires USB connection AFAIK).

Looking at getting one of these cards for myself (that recent ebay link most likely). I just have one question; do they make any improvement to the standard bluetooth reception? I'd guess not since it still uses the same antennas but I thought I'd ask. I have an '09 with no wifi card installed.

Hello,
I'm looking to buy a solution like the MacVidCards one, but on their site they're constantly sold out. Do you guys know any other vendor who sells the same kit?

Thank you for the help!

Sorry for not reading post carefully. :)

I found third wifi antenna under the card.
I got the adapter, modded cable as shown on post #1, (I had to re-do the wire as I had A, B reversed) and it's all good and got my handoff working. Thank you!

osxwifi will get you going but very pricy and you will have to extend USB cable out of the case into rear USB port (not very ideal).

They are selling bluetooth extension cable for $11.99 + $6 shipping!
Their reasoning for $6 for this cable was the cable is too fragile....yeah right.

Got my cable for HK for $5 including shipping to US.

I just got mine (slow Australia Post) and installed it. The kit came well packed and with an instructions cd (one of those 8cm ones!) and generally looks good quality. Quite a fiddly job but mainly because space is tight and the 4 connectors are tiny.

All fitted up now though and bluetooth range seems a little better. Can't comment on WiFi since I use wired but it'll be useful at some stage. It had no WiFi fitted previously.

I was hoping that the range might improve with the slightly longer antenna cable but it would appear I was wrong. I've ordered an extension lead to fit an external antenna :(

USB3 PCIe card with internal ports?

Gotcha, you'll be very limited in choices for USB 3.0 with internal ports, but there are a few, especially if you don't mind rigging up an internal power connection. I tried to find that card on Amazon and couldn't identify it - do you have a board/part number for it? I know about USB2 cards with internal ports, would like to go USB3...

Sorry I didn't get back with you. It's gone from Amazon.com. I tried to find it too and met with negative results. I'll dig through my stockpile in a few minutes and see what I can find.

Okay, on closer examination, it has 2 internal USB headers (like on a motherboard) and you will have to get the appropriate connectors/wires. It's actually designed to drive the front USB ports of a PC case, but you can adapt that.

EDIT: Here is the Amazon Listing for the ORICO PFU3-2O2i

Here is another one on eBay ORICO-PFU3-2O2i

Here's a newegg review. Contrary to what the reviewer says, it doesn't need any additional power, but it does have a connector for it if you want additional power. I'm looking around for a U.S seller right now.

It appears that THIS SELLER has them in stock. I added one to the shopping cart and it said it's $19.60.
