Immediately changed the bar back to being on top and have been using it like that for a few weeks. Today, I moved it to the bottom...We'll see if I can change my muscle memory..

Are those the only choices?
Are which the only choices? If you’re referring to the poll option of if you’re a fan or not, yes. But also keep in mind as to when I posted this initially, and how many times Safari has changed since.

I’m on the fence.

This sucks. Ads that you could once scroll past are now persistent because the pages aren’t formatted for the new safari layout. And they reduce the screen-space

there was also a clear distinction between private and non private tabs. Thats gone. And the layout for switching tabs makes it slower to find what you’re looking for

Not really. Slower and feels like they are just trying to play catch-up with Chrome.

I really like that Web Extensions are permitted in iOS Safari now. It will take a while for Apple to let developers get them online; can't wait. Now, to see if other iOS browsers will be permitted to use Web Extensions. If so, possibly hello, Firefox.

I hate it. Just to open the side bar takes multiple touches. To close it again takes multiple touches. No longer does a single icon let you open and close it with one touch, and each time you open it it goes to the root level meaning you have to search for where you were. Typical of Apple to take a simple action and transform it into a time consuming, annoying set of senseless tasks.

Just so you know this entire overhaul is in service of being able to swipe between tabs. I will live with it and see how i feel. If not go back to the traditional style. But on first trial. It makes me want a pro max, because putting it on the bottom shrinks the screen real estate. when the bar is on the top, it kinda integrates into, where the notch is, it's space you don't think about. Now you have the notch on the top and the bar on the bottom.

I like some of the features but I dislike the new tab icon being so far away now. I do A LOT if tab opening and closing, and keep many tabs open at all times. Throughout the day I can open anywhere from 4 to 12 new tabs and immediately close them. Now it feels…slower and a tad more awkward to open a new tab and do what needs to be done.

I might get used to it. Eventually.

Well, I suppose I’ll have to, won’t I?

Also not a huge fan of the new tab views, I liked the stacked cards more.

I’m about to kill my battery trying to figure out which configuration I like better 😆. I like it overall and address bar on top vs bottom (I’m sure there will be a poll for that soon if there isn’t already) each have their benefits. I’ll rock with it on the bottom for a few days and then decide but overall I don’t hate it.

If you switch to the single tab view, is there any way to open a new tab besides the + in the far left corner? It’s killing my thumb trying to reach it. This is terrible.

Is ok on the iPhone. I like the refresh icon at the bottom of the screen. Comes in handy to refresh pages like this forum. But safari on iPad is terrible. It look cartoonish, especially the tab bar. I hate the larger and bolder font in the tab titles. And the keyboard is crap, like when typing this. I will be restoring to 14 tomorrow.

IMO I don’t like it. I’m sure I will get use to it. I don’t like the + icon is on the left instead of the right or middle.

Can’t really understand the purpose of the completely changed UI in Safari. It now takes three taps to get to a search bar. Am I missing something?
If you want to canibalize your existing tab no problem, but if you want to open a new tab what’s the deal?

Wasn’t it settled that tabs at the bottom were unpopular?

I like the new tab view, I feel like I have more control over what I've opened in the past.. I think it's just brain training to remember not to lift your thumb to the top to search.

I also prefer the tabs at the bottom and the ability to quickly swipe between open tabs and swipe up to open the overview 😁 Much better experience in my opinion.

By the way: you can easily revert back to tabs on top and make safari look and feel like on iOS 14. Just tab on „AA“ in the address bar and change it on the fly ;)

I can’t find out.

If your browsing on your phone and leave tabs open and go on your iPad, How do you see what tabs are left open on your phone like you could on previous iOS versions

Yup, I really like the new Safari. It definitely takes some time to re-train my muscle memory because right now my thumb always reaches for the top to get to the URL bar ;-)

Opening a new tab can be done from the page with just a swipe to the left on the address bar. To search, just tap on the address bar.

Or do you mean something else? As it's not 3 taps for me.
