I am having issue with HWAccel and Ventura 13.2 that I recently installed using OCLP 0.6.1. It simply is not enabled. The card is the Radeon VII, and it was fully activated under Monterey...
Same here - no HWAccel and Ventura 13.2 (OCLP 0.6.1). Using WX4150 (AMD Radeon Polaris 4GB).
Metal Support: Metal 2
Did the resistor mod and custom firmware flash to have it usable with MacOS (WX4150)
Brightness, sleep works

After replacing 0.8.7 with 0.8.8, an EFI Volume shows during bootscreen. I have been using your package for quite some time and this is new. The config.plist is as issued, no mods. It (EFI) has become the landing place in bootscreen rather than my default Monterey volume. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your great work!

There should be a hidden .contentVisibility file inside the BOOT folder. If you only copy (update) the bootx64.efi, but not the whole BOOT folder, then this happen.

The fix is to copy the .contentVisibility back into posistion.

Or leave it there, but press Control + Enter at the boot picker to select your OS partition as the default option, and leave the EFI entry there.

Open the file with TextEdit, type "Disabled" (without quotes), save the file, and reboot

I don't have 2.6.4. Did you follow the suggestion to lower the Max VRAM, and reduce machine load?

On the other hand, there is no need to patch the OS, in fact, better not to (that's why we use OpenCore to achieve what we want).

Anyway, I just check Topaz's official website. Mojave only has CPU support. If you want to utilise your GPU, you have to upgrade your macOS.

Hi all, first time post/question. Thanks to everyone who has made hardware acceleration possible amongst all the other great things OpenCore provides. This has probably been asked to death so apologies in advance if the solution is simple and I missed it throughout reading all the posts here, but I'm really struggling to identify why HEVC is not showing up as enabled in VideoProc. Thus I'm not sure if HEVC is in fact working as a result. Is there something I need to do beyond just installing OC to get it to run and display? I'm running OpenCore on my Mac Pro 5,1 with Mojave 10.14.6 with a RX580.

As an aside, I curious if anyone can confirm whether Topaz Video Enhance AI 2.6.4 or version 3 can run on a Mac Pro 5,1, either with or without OC/hardware acceleration. I have the X5690 chip on my machine, but I'm assuming its too outdated to run a demanding application.

Thanks for any info anyone can share!
Topaz Video Enhance AI 2.6.4, will run on Catalina, in GPU mode, on a Mac 5.1, using OC 7.4. Using a Sapphire 590 video card, Topaz 2.6.4, gives 1.21 s/frame, Vega 56 gives 0.51 s/frame, 5700 gives 0.48 s/frame which compares to 0.91 s/frame on a M1 chip during tests I made.

And if I remember correctly, Catalina is the first version that allows using the GPU for calculations.

If trying to run a 4K TV via HDMI from an AMD RX5700 XT card in the Mac Pro (Mid 2010) in macOS Monterey at times causes the computer to suddenly turn off, is it because the power supply can’t keep up, or what do you think? Never had any problems when driving a 1080p TV or a 1920x1200 display via DisplayPort to DVI.
I had to use the PIXLAS mode using Posi_tap on my 5.1. The 5700 would work most of the time but every now-and-then would force a shut down. I think the 5700 is right at the ragged edge in power. Since doing the PIXLAS mode no more problems.

Thanks for the info. But too much work to dig into that for me at the moment. I think I will just keep using the Mac Pro with my 1920 x 1200 display which it has been working fine with no matter what I've done.

Hello, I'm new to this, Is there a way to enable Hardware acceleration after installing 0.6.1 OC? is the first post files still relevant? I'm on 12.6.3. 5/1 with RX580.

Never mind...i think it is activated 😅😇

is the serial number unavailable if you boot a supported system also?

if so your backplane was swapped and the serial number was not set.

It should be supported by macOS natively. Please perform NVRAM and SMC reset first. I've seen more than once this simply NVRAM issue.

I am seeing the same issue on Monterey.

I am using your 0.8.9 package.

I have done NVRAM & SMC reset.
I have enabled BlueToolFixUp and BlueTooth-Spoof kext.

Just did a clean install of Monterey 12.6.3 on a new drive.
I have an Apple BCM943602CDPAX card. WiFi works great but no BT:

System Profiler shows:

Here's IOREG :
Monterey.png
It shows "Unsupported Bluetooth Controller" for the USB Product Name.

The thing is BT works fine in Big Sur with those kexts enabled:

Here's the Big Sur IOREG:

Any clues as what might me going wrong ?

For this point, I did a clean install, formatted the SSD, installed Mojave and mounted the EFI and put your EFI, and strangely no image appears, and when I updated to BigSur and Monterrey I had the same problem, that when I restarted it did not enter OpenCore and stayed no image and had to shut down Mac and start again.

Using the original Mojave SSD, without changing the EFI, the gray bootscreen appears normally with the RX580.

I believe this is not the problem, as the GPU using original EFI without OpenCore enters normally.

Initially I thought that it could be the motherboard battery not holding the OpenCore configuration to start, but I confirmed that it was not, because the SSD without modified EFI enters normally.

Issue OpenCore <<-- Video issue in OpenCore
Hey,
Do you find the solution, i have exactly the same problem with the same configuration…
Thanks a lot !

If the card isn't supported anymore, may be you will need more kext to fix it, e.g. BrcmFirmwareData.kext and BrcmPatchRAM3.kext, which can be downloaded from here.

Another possible reason is that you are suffering from the USB 1.1 issue. In that case, connect the BT card via a USB hub may be a better and more permanent solution

Thanks. Yes that's what I used on one of my hackintosh's for a non-apple USB BT dongle.
I thought the BCM943602CDP (which contains BRCM20703 BT USB module) was still supported up to Monterey.

The USB 1.1 issue has been with us since Big Sur but the BRCM20703 still works without the BrcmFirmwareData.kext and BrcmPatchRAM3.kext on Big Sur so more like related to firmware loading of the BT module.

No harm in trying I guess....man cMP is becoming more and more like a hackintosh :D

@h9826790 I solved the problem.

The problem was I enabled BlueTooth-Spoof.kext assuming it was needed for BCM943602CDP but it is NOT needed as that kext is only for BRCM2046 and BRCM20702 and NOT for BRCM20703 bluetooth modules.

So in summary, for using BCM943602CDP on Monterey, only BlueToolFixUp.kext is required to be enabled and other kexts disabled.

@_LiveSorcerer_ check your config.plist to see if you have enabled BlueToolFixUp.kext only.

I'm currently using a Mac Pro (Mid 2012) with MacOS 12.6.3, equipped with 2 x 3.46 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon processors, 128 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, and an AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB graphics card. I recently updated to version 0.8.9. However, whenever I'm rendering videos or processing photos, my system slows down and becomes too laggy to use. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. I've been using Martin Lo's OC for years and have had great success with it. I'm open to any suggestions anyone may have.

I am also using 12.6.3. However, with the Radeon VII now, not the RX580 anymore.

I perform trancoding test (from H264 to HEVC) in order to test if HWAccel works. So far, I see no slow down when performing this test.

Can you also perform a simple 4K H264 to HEVC transcoding test (but not real video editing), and see if the system also slow down? This is to test if your system is affected whenever HWAccel is in use.

In the mean time, for your workflow, if downgrade back to 0.8.8 fix the issue. Please stay at 0.8.8.

I have recently conducted a transcode process on a 300 seconds-long 4K H264 video file, and the output was successfully converted to High-Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC) without any noticeable rendering delays or system degradation issues. Although I did not encounter any rendering lags during the transcoding process, I do unfortunately experience major performance degradation when utilizing resource-intensive software such as Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, or Topaz AI Enhancer during the rendering process. I guess it's just me.

I created a new "easy to install package" as per many requested (based on the official OpenCore). [The attached package updated to 0.8.9]
I used this and had the machine running well. Wifi one day was not working so rebooted and now its touchy with usb somehow more than it was before. USB seemed a little off before. Meaning it will go half way through the verbose then reboot with usb items plugged in then with usb unplugged it will make to desktop. Did the ASD and showed no problem. Wifi does not work in windows either and windows will often not make it to desktop ending in bluescreen. But its not always the case with USB sometimes get makes it to desktop... Could be motherboard or something usb related?

Update I really dont know, now it seems a little better. Tried zapping the Pram but not much change at least the hardware monitor app is not giving notification of taking too long to start up and there may be a hardware problem.
Still can take a couple times to get to the desktop, reboots, but finally does. Wifi still not working, ordered another as it was only selling for nine bucks, been using the 94360

Hi all

I'm on a Mac pro 4,1>5,1, with radeon VII on Mojave.

Currently trying to move up to Monterey or even just Catalina using Martin Lo's OpenCore 0.8.9 package.

I followed the video with the edits made in the code and downloaded Monterey from the app store, went to install and it told me i didn't have the correct firmware.

I can't figure out why and for some reason i can't download Catalina from the Appstore

any idea?

Thanks

this one done me right before: https://www.sl-soft.de/en/anymacos/

Had no problem with firmware being correct, was it Mojave that applied the required firmware? I dont quite remember
