Can you try to move the EFI folder to the SSD in the optical bay, and see if OC can survive after NVRAM reset?
Aha! doing so corrected the problem. Additionally there recently was message of improperly ejected drive but it was internal (An HP 1TB HDD ..far left) that after doing that was not even seen on the system. Id say that one is failing.

Most likely the cause of the system freezing up. Would have to test it to be sure its not the fault of the port.

Port ok, but freezing system was not due to that but I think rather (not really topic) RTC battery change.

How about safe mode? Machine boots in safe mode for 10.13 but 12 if safe mode is attempted, the system crashes from applecpupowermanagement?

Ok set dummypowermanagement to true and it did not crash.... only for safe mode turned off if not safe mode. Wow that is a fast boot...

I created a new "easy to install package" as per many requested (based on the official OpenCore). [The attached package updated to 0.9.4]
../..
  1. For Big Sur and Monterey, if some ports on your graphic card are disabled, please follow the steps in this video to re-enable them.
  2. Reboot
Hello everyone,
thank you very much to the MacRumors' community members for the work they have done to make my MacPro 5.1 work so well with McOS Monterey. Before making up my mind to buy a M2 Studio Max, I tried the mod to update Monterey on cMP.
Nevertheless, after using OCLP 0.6.8 to install Monterey on my cMP, I had a first issue with DxO PhotoLab 6. My Sapphire RX580 8GB Pulse didn't work (even if compatibility seems to be ok) and it took me 18 minutes to export my file with DeepPRIME XD on. Actually, CPU worked instead of GPU.
Thanks to h9826790 and manually update via the attached package updated to 0.9.4, I succeeded in making the RX580 work on DxO PL6: instead of 18 minutes, I am able to export RAW files with DeepPRIME XD process into tiff files in 45s!!!
But, DP doesn't work anymore. I tried to change BordProduct id. 7BA5B2D9E42DDD94 to 27AD2F918AE68F61, DP issue is still there.
Is there a solution to get both the RX580 GPU (on DxO PL6) and DP output working on my cMP?
Best regards for your help.

12.6.9 updated successfully. I am using my own 0.9.5 package now. This package is under internal beta testing at this moment. However, due to no change in Monterey support between 0.9.4 and 0.9.5. Therefore, existing 0.9.4 users should be safe to update to Monterey 12.6.9 with VMM on and SMBIOS spoofing off.

Please help me to hide the EFI drive in Boot Screen.
If you install OC correctly (e.g. copy the whole BOOT folder into position, but not manually moving the files inside), then there should be a hidden file .contentVisibility inside the EFI/EFI/BOOT folder.

And if you open that file, there should be just a single word "Disabled" inside it.

This is the file to control if that EFI entry show up in the OC boot picker.

I see what you said. However how to solve the problem. Thanks

Did you check all EFI partitions? If more than one OC copy installed, then the other one will also show up as an EFI entry.

any instructions on how to do this "in your case i would download and build on a second mac a OCLP usb stick with BIG SUR and reinstall it onto your NVME, it should be possible that you overwrite your existing MAC OS install disk NVME and you will be left with the remaining Data; please correct me if am wrong." i did the dos dude a long time ago...and i don't remember
update! i was able to fix my mac installing Big sur into another drive, and i was wrong on my original post i DID NOT use DOS DUDE...i used the instructionson this thread using: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...n.2180095/page-53?post=28255048#post-28255048

Using, Clover Config, then coping the EFI files into the correct section, then blessing...thats how i got the this to work on my original set up. THe thing is now, i tried monterey again..to no avail. Wouldn't be the same, of just getting the latest attachments on the threat for the open core, and follow the same instructions?

So what im doing is getting Monterey from the app store. Following the Clover Cing ect instructions. The computer looks like its updating. Once it restarts, it logs right back into my big sur set up. I remember when i did this the first time, the normal big sur just updated.

2009 flashed mac pro. NVME via pcie

Thanks again in advance. This forum is AWESOME!!

I see the update from the app store (Monterey)

I did use the 0.9.4 Package. No cigar. after "updating" it asks to restart. Once it restarts it just boots up into my Big Sur setup. Its like something is blocking it. I did update the Boot Rom firmware back when i did Big Sur, is that something that has to be done again?

Configuration needs to be setup to be able "see" the updates.
There are two options.
See this thread in Post#1 and scroll to the section "Clean install or update"
Yes i see that update "ventura," But since i don't want to go all the way up to Ventura (Music Production Software). I search for Montrey via google/app store and download it: https://apps.apple.com/by/app/macos-monterey/id1576738294?mt=12

so yes i see the updates! after clover config, EFI files copy, and bless. But again, once it restarts after "installing" Monterey, it just boots up into my Big Sur set up, like nothing happened.

Even if you wanted, you cannot install Ventura using the Manual OpenCore method on the cMP.
The only way to install Ventura is to use OCLP which is not covered here.

Anyway, regarding Monterey, I am not sure what you mean by "after clover config, EFI files copy, and bless".
Not even sure what process you are following in trying to install Monterey.
If you have working Big Sur booting via OpenCore, then you should be able to Upgrade to Monterey by following the link I posted above.
I not sure the App Store download is the FULL installer. If you follow the instructions in that link, you will be able to install Monterey.

I kind of like "anymacos" app... I almost got a dual 4,1 tray with 8 core for .99 and 29. shipping but I got beat out w/1.25...

Now kicking myself to have not bid more. I think the guy may have more cause some timed out. Some were 9.99. I dont feel its wise to go too far since there is a reason and being its had its good run and doubtful will go too much longer being particularly able for updating. I got the 4 16gbs ram for 24. though. Not bad.

Sorry for the confusion. I mean the instructions found on this threat. Where it says to download the package (I did 0.9.4) launch clover configuration, mount EFI, copy the files, "boot" and "oc", then press on the app "bless". That's how I got big sur. I still see updates (I don't want ventura) but Monterey doesn't work. I'll try your link tonight. Thank you

Almost sounds like you need to make sure its booting the mac installer when it restarts? Usually installer changes startup disk but maybe something odd occurred?

Ive seen like with just a security update a couple restarts and the installer disappears and re-appears
