MP 1,1-5,1 Activate AMD hardware acceleration

I spoofed my entire smbios as an iMac Pro to run the installer and then I switched to only the 'hybridization' of BoardProduct - Mac-7BA5B2D9E42DDD94. Maybe UpdateSmbios got flipped to false but I would be surprised by this. I also have the device properties set (shikigva, agdpmod, and rebuild-device-tree).

I can pull up my config tomorrow and see what is up.

Please double check the board ID. And I believe those arguments (e.g. rebuild device tree) aren't working yet.

I need to do that manually to rename the PGU to GFX0 (N.B. that's just for testing purpose, makes no difference in Big Sur).

My suspicion was correct that I had Update Smbios set to false. I have acceleration now without WEG / LILU but with rebuild-device-tree and PXS1 to GFX0. I will now try to run it with the GPU as PXS1.

I was able to remove the GPU as PXS1 patch and rebuild-device-tree but still have HEVC & H264 hardware accelerated encoding and decoding.

sorry, if I may ask a already answered question. if yes pleas give me a hint, where I can find the answer... I dit the OpenCore 0.5.9 installer. everyting works besides HW-acceleration (my main reason to switch for NVIDIA to AMD).

Thanks you, I tried that already. But came to an idea.
Fyi, I accidentally installed over my used Highsierra instead of a plain fresh Mojave, I made. There were some weird things with the EFI-partition, which was called differently in clover than in Terminal. Anyway, now I copied and blessed your OpenCore again at it works now also in other applications. (insta360pro-stitcher-app in my case) Which it has not before.

hi，just asking， is there anyway fake a W5700X by 5700xt or 5700 on a Mac pro 5.1 and still having hardware acceleration？
from some post I see the Geekneach score of 5700xt boost to 70000 from 40000 by using "offical drive"（Faking W5700X）

I have backups of my BootROM from before, so I skipped that part.

I'm able to play 4K content in Google Chrome with no problems, highest CPU gets is 50% and GPU gets is 27% on 8K videos. Trying to play 8K vids results in buffering/stuttering.

The 1.5 GB, 400 Mb/sec 4K HEVC Jellyfish file plays in Movist Pro smooth as butter. CPU never climbs above 3%, GPU 25% as measured by iStat Menus, and with no other app running.

Does this package allow Catalina upgrades?

Quick question - Airplay & Sidecar..

Does 5,1 MP Support this on 10.5.x at all?

I''ve read it never will work because of lack of QuickSync.

Would love to know thoughts - I've been able to to got OC and get HVEC and 264 working fine.
just AirPlay only does audio and blank screen for Sidecar and AirPlay Screen Sharing.

Assume can get new WIFI / BT module and do Handoff etc fine but yeh

QuickSync can’t be a requirement, otherwise it can never work on iMac Pro or the 7,1.

However, these two Mac have T2, it may be the reason why they can do it but we can’t (even we can also use AMD HEVC hardware encoding).

TBH, I believe there is a way to make it work, but I haven’t really look into this area yet.

It can't be T2 or QuickSync requirements as my hack is using RX-580 with a Xeon CPU E5-1650 v3 @ 3.50GHz and it can AirPlay natively just fine to AppleTV (note that its also not a WiFi or BT requirement as there is no WiFi or BT in this machine). It must be some other check that is preventing the cMPs from doing AirPlay.
(I'm still booting the hack via Clover, and it is using iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS)

Hey all,
installed OC 0.5.9, then upgraded my 4,1 (5,1) 2 x 3.5 GHz, MSI RX580 to Catalina, two Patch Updates showed, I installed - and fell into an endless re-boot trap.
SAFE booted, report said last extension was TelestreamAudio.kext (from 2014!), trashed that sucker, all hunky-dory again.
Haha, this is like troubleshooting Extensions in OS 8/9 😜

I keep that disabled, please turn it on by yourself.

It seems more people prefer the boot picker looks as native as possible. And the native Apple boot manager does not have that option.

While iMac Pro has native AMD video compression/decompression acceleration with High Sierra, the hack don't work with MP5,1 and 10.13.

Mojave is a requirement when enabling with MP5,1.

Btw, I tried to find why can't be enabled for some time, I still use High Sierra a lot to run Xcode 10.1.

I wish there's a way at least for one single Format, in that case I could use proxy or transcode all of my videos to that format before importing to Premier pro or record with that format if possible.

This is my system report in high sierra with Xeon x5690 and RX580

If this capability is locked why this test shows support up to 8K 61FPS in Metal?
