Been quite a lot of people switching to note 8 after the Apple event

If Apple don't sort out their pricing mess think they could be in trouble going forward
Honestly, if people are unhappy (pricing, design, features, etc), best way to have change is not buying or going with the competition. Unfortunately, loyal Apple users will pay the prices, accept unpopular design changes... and enable Apple to set pricing standards, and do what they want on their phone, despite what customers want. I have both iPhone and Samsung phones... both are always on for various things I do, but I do swap sims a lot when I go out. I like both pretty much equally. I have my personal thoughts on the iPhone X and 8's... but not enough to voice in a open forum. My voice to Apple is whether to spend my money on their products or not. I think Apple will do well either way... sad part is they will set the pricing standard, which could be bad for customers... no matter what brand they go with.

So I went through the same process during the leaks and it caused me to buy a s8 Plus about 3 months ago.

My first week with the Samsung was a dream, I don't know how many times I thought to myself "Wow this is amazing why didn't I switch sooner."

Fast forward to now though and I have come to the conclusion that hardware aside I just prefer iOS to android. I miss the quality of the apps I personally use most frequently and it is going to end up being the reason I get the X. Hardware wise the Samsung phones are really really nice, but software wise I am iOS all the way.

Which apps did you find were lacking on android?
Also, was unlock okay, which method was the easiest?.
thanks

Right. The Note 8 isn't bigger than the Iphone 7 plus. It's actually skinnier but a hair taller. This proves people complaining about the note 8 don't have a clue.

See attachment.

It's just easier to hold as there is more bezel. There isn't an edge on the 7 Plus, so I have an easier time just grasping it. I'm an oddity in that I don't mind huge bezel one bit.
Prefer it actually.

As a general update, I still love the Note 8 after day two. In fact, I’m surprised at how much more i like it than my iphone. Zero regrets, but we’ll see how it holds up.

If you have the time to keep us updated on your progress and happiness down the road, I am sure that quite a few of us would appreciate it. :)

It's night and day difference between the S7 Edge and S8 Edge especially the Note 8. I have an S7 Edge as my work phone and hate the sides and curved glass. But the Note 8 is awesome compared to it.

If it had band 71, I really would have considered it. I know that seems trivial but my fiancee works out on the country and that's where his family lives. I already get terrible service with T-Mobile on this Intel modem but I can't afford to switch carriers nor can I afford to buy the Qualcomm iPhone straight out. So I'm getting an Android. May as well have the band for when they use 600mHz here.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the S9 will offer. I'm in no rush this year, so if I don't get a device in 2017, it's okay.

V30 I believe has that band and is an excellent phone!

I did the same thing when the Note 4 came out. Made the switch from iOS to Android because of the phone itself. But after a year...I Made the switch back. The phone was great but pairing it with he software was hit or miss. Don't get me wrong..there was some great features on the Note 4 (I still love the idea of a second storage card), but I went back to the iPhone a year later because for what I needed...it just seemed to be a better experience.

The Note 8 is a pretty phone though.

I'm the opposite of you. I had always had Android and I've run into a lot of obstacles with the iPhone 5s, 6, 6s, SE, and now the 7 Plus. I've given it a go each time because I liked iOS. My feelings are changing as hardware issues are outweighing software benefits.
Guess everyone has a different need and expectation.

The Note 8 ( bought 2 ) has been damn good! Battery life is consistently hitting 6 hrs SOT after a few charge cycles on both devices. I absolutely love my 7+ too, but it doesn’t compare with the new Note. The camera, screen, battery life, functionality, ergonomics etc are all way superior to the iPhone 7+ (running iOS 11 GM) to me!

iOS 11 is great on the iPad but meh on the iPhone, imo.

I was very eager to get the 10th ed. iPhone, but after the keynote, I just can’t jusify the price or usability over my 7+ and Note 8.

Also, the Note 8 isn’t just a S8+ with S-pen. It’s leaps and bounds better.. here’s a video comparison between the S8 and Note 8

Geez... Touch Wiz isn't used on the Note 8. The UI is Samsung Experience. The lack of knowledge when bashing anything but Apple is astounding...

if you slap make up on a pig is it still a pig?

It's still Touchwiz renamed. It's not a complete over haul. Anyone who had a Note 7 will tell you that

He has a right to be here as you do. But why are you here if all you are doing is continuously arguing and not providing anything useful?

Because I've actually had and have talked about my experience with Android phones. You?

Same here.

I don’t care if a phone is big. I care if the size of a phone is a problem.

Very different things I think some people have a issue understanding.

The Note 8’s size is not a problem for me personally but it’s my limit since the height exceeds my typical back pocket size.

Have you tried the new UI? I suggest you try it before judging something you haven't tried. Spoiler... It's outstanding and leaps beyond Touch Wiz...

Day 3, and like my Note 8 even more. Kids are looking closely at it now too. Not sure the Note and Android have always been this good, but the Note 8 is a total keeper for me. I still love my iPad, but will check out the Samsung tablets when it's time to upgrade. Also still love my MBP, and don't see myself going to Windows anytime soon.

Agree, not as straight forward, but much more task-oriented and useful once you dive in. I am still watching videos online to find tips and tricks. For me, it takes fewer touches on the Note to do want I need to do during a typical busy work day. I really really do not miss the delayed screen swipes on the iphone. The Note keeps up with me, and my four-letter word usage has dropped off dramatically (for now).

Definitely keep us updated. I am seriously considering this switch. Tough because I am on the upgrade program and have an Apple Watch. Did you just ditch your iCloud? I don't want to lose any of my photos during the transfer.

Yes, I've played with it. Touch Wiz has improved each year, I still think it's behind and not as smooth as HTC and vanilla Android. It has a lot of nice features included, but it's not as refined and light as it should be. And the bloatware included really holds it back. I know samsung wants to you use everything Samsung with the icons and themes, but I'm not a big fan.

Since I swap sims and use both Samsung and iPhone, I use mediafire for my cloud storage. Both phones backups photos to mediafire fine. I originally had a mediafire account before I bought a Samsung phone. I jailbreak my iPhone, and do theme modding... so I use mediafire to share my work to the jailbreaking community. When I installed mediafire on my iPhone, I noticed my photos were saved in the /camera folder in mediafire. The Mediafire app on my Samsung has the camera backup setting too... so it seems to be a good/cheaper cloud storage option for both phones. I pay $24.99 a year for 1TB... I've had it for like 4 years... no issues and easy to use on mobile devices and PC.

I have moved syncing of files to DropBox and OneDrive. As for photos, I have migrated all of those to Google Photos, which is actually much better, imho, than iOS Photos.

I am on the upgrade program too, and just plan on selling my phone and paying it off. Selling my series 2 watch too. AT&T is selling the Samsung Watch for $50 with the Note 8, so I picked that up as well. There agian, I'm finding the Samsung watch to be just fine, and with some very nice touches and a better interface. I think it actually looks better.

I feel like Apple blinders have been taken off my eyes. There is a very good life beyond the Apple ecosystem.
