At £1350 with AC+ that line already got smaller without the switchers ;) though we really appreciate all the very keen beta testers with lots of money :p version 2 should be a much better phone

€1548 : bargain

€1329 but sure.

Also don't expect the phone to be much cheaper next year.

I feel as if we're talking in circles. Do you realize how many banks and credit unions there are?

Many people have check cards with a local bank and/or credit union.

My Bank uses neither apple pay or samsung pay. :( But my Credit card with my old Credit Union does. But at least with Samsung Pay, you can use it at every retailer even if they don't have an NFC compatible device.

It seems to me that what Apple has going for it is real world, day to day performance when compared to any LG, Samsung or Google flagship.

I you don't need that difference (and it is perceivable), and you think that the customization and the pen help you out, then I think we'd all understand why you'd want to give it a try.

Just remember that all of that customization comes at the expense of security and performance.

You're probably right, although I am finding the Note 8 screen to be more responsive that my ip7plus, and overall much more zippy too. The ip7p always felt sluggish to me, and very frequently required multiple swipes to get it to respond.

As a general update, I still love the Note 8 after day two. In fact, I’m surprised at how much more i like it than my iphone. Zero regrets, but we’ll see how it holds up.

I may upgrade my S7 Edge to a Note 8. I left iPhones after the iPhone 6 plus. I have the same size screen in a smaller footprint with my S7 Edge. Apple has nothing for me with the latest versions. To get an iPhone X with fast charging and 256 GB, the cost is significantly more than a Note 8 with the 200 GB micro SD card I already have in my S7 Edge.

For maps and I do like google docs

Samsung Pay doesn't work better. If your bank is available, it can work at more places, because of NFC. Less banks are set up for Samsung Pay.

How does wireless charging work better? When it will be used the same way, but also with your airpods and apple watch.
Maybe you should actually learn what samsung pay does. It may have less banks involved but for those banks it does it works everywhere I have tried except at gas pumps.

With my 7 plus it works very few places. At least where I live. I never have that worry with samsung pay. Everywhere I go it works. I love seeing people faces when they say "Oh we don't take apple pay here" I just look at them and do it anyway and watch it work. You even earn points with samsung pay which you can use for sweepstakes and gift cards for actually useful places. On my 7 plus nothing.

Point is everything has it's pluses and minuses. But if you don't actually use it then you don't really know. Reading on the internet only takes you so far. I get why people love both platforms. Both are great. No need to argue.

Um...I clearly addressed this in my previous statement (If you're stuck with a bank that only uses Apple Pay then yeah, use that. But Samsung Pay works better if that bank ever supports Samsung Pay in the future.)

Samsung is adding more banks every month. Its only a matter of time before you have the same choices of banks with both Apple and Samsung. In this regard until Apple adds Magnetic Secure Transmission, Samsung will continue to be the better choice for mobile payments.

Samsung acquired the Massachusetts-based mobile payments app developer LoopPay. LoopPay developed the software that made magnetic strip point of sale devices compatible with mobile devices. Since Samsung now owns the IP, the only way for Apple to incorporate this is to either pay a license fee or move directly to the chip processing method, because magnetic pay is being shut down and the last to go will be gas stations. I am not sure if Samsung pay works with chips, which is encrypted data. Magnetic swipe method is incredibly insecure way for financial transactions.

I see, didn't know, good info. Thanks.

I too had to check on MST, and what I learned was because of the use of tokenization MST is just as secure as paying with NFC. So using mobile payments are much more secure then swiping with a physical card.

I'm not sure ether on the status of chip cards, but I do have 7 credit cards that all have chips, and to date I've never had an issue using them with Samsung pay on chip reader terminals. Knock on wood.

True...at some point, i wanted to switch to android but after i used it, i found that android aren't as straight forward like ios. Iphone is expensive but not once did i hv a failed iphone. The ios hv it shares of problems but after tge bugs were removed it is smooth as heaven. Despite samsung galaxy may look nicer, but the ios is my favorite

The latest phones from Apple and Samsung show that these products are taking very different and diverging paths. Apple continues down some path that is striving for glitz and “a-ha / wow” technology; while Samsung seems to be putting more focus on phone practicality. Neither the ip8 nor the iPhone X has a single new practical feature to make my busy life easier. Meanwhile, customization on the Note apperars to be easy, and the pen is a great add for me (especially the side note feature).

I will let you know how the transition goes... I still have an iPad and a MBP, so I will need to get them all to work together in some areas (to-do lists, etc.). Not worried about photos, since I have recently abaonded Photos and went to Google Photos, which is a great paltform. Won’t miss Siri, since that feature caused me more stress than it helped me. Might miss my Apple watch, but I've lived without one before and got along just fine. Plus, picked up an S3 from AT&T for $49 as part of a package. Might be good enough; I'll let you know how it compares to the Series 2.
Enjoy Touchwiz.

I'm looking to switch will try a decent inexpensive android phone first. I'll download the apps I use most, customise to look like iOS and run alongside iPhone for 2 weeks.....

I only used iPhone for the last 9 years. But im deciding to switch to Android. Only reason is the freaking design. The phone doesnt look nor feel premium. I hate the left and right corner of the phone. The so called "ears". I wish they made a thin bezel on top rather then useless screen.

I already know what it does. I already admitted it can be used in less locations.

Less banks and financial institutions are signed up to use Samsung Pay. Which was my point.

I don't care to use it. I have an iPhone. That's why I'm on this board, the question is why are you here?

Day 3, and like my Note 8 even more. Kids are looking closely at it now too. Not sure the Note and Android have always been this good, but the Note 8 is a total keeper for me. I still love my iPad, but will check out the Samsung tablets when it's time to upgrade. Also still love my MBP, and don't see myself going to Windows anytime soon.

Agree, not as straight forward, but much more task-oriented and useful once you dive in. I am still watching videos online to find tips and tricks. For me, it takes fewer touches on the Note to do want I need to do during a typical busy work day. I really really do not miss the delayed screen swipes on the iphone. The Note keeps up with me, and my four-letter word usage has dropped off dramatically (for now).

He has a right to be here as you do. But why are you here if all you are doing is continuously arguing and not providing anything useful?

I can understand switching for sure but I am going to try the X. FYI, I found my 7 Plus is faster when using Zoom mode. It is also brighter...not sure why but it is for sure.

So I went through the same process during the leaks and it caused me to buy a s8 Plus about 3 months ago.

My first week with the Samsung was a dream, I don't know how many times I thought to myself "Wow this is amazing why didn't I switch sooner."

Fast forward to now though and I have come to the conclusion that hardware aside I just prefer iOS to android. I miss the quality of the apps I personally use most frequently and it is going to end up being the reason I get the X. Hardware wise the Samsung phones are really really nice, but software wise I am iOS all the way.
