I like gadgets in general. I currently have a Jet Black 7 Plus and a Galaxy S8. I have had every iPhone (except 5c) and quite a few Androids since the Nexus One. I plan on selling my S8 and getting a Pixel XL 2 when it comes out and I will be getting the iPhone X. I simply like playing with new tech.

But if I could only have one it would be an iPhone. Yes with Android you can customize this and than, but for me it comes down to performance. iOS simply performs better. Most of the apps that are on both platforms perform and even look better on iOS. I am no developer, but I would guess it is easier to develop on iOS mostly because there are less hardware variations. I will say the Pixel comes the closes to iPhone in performance with the apps I use. Also, hands down, the Apple Watch is the best smartwatch out there.

gotta love all the hate in here for android - and probably from people who, you know, have NOT actually used the device anywhere but in a retailer environment.

i had the 3G and 3Gs iPhone, and then switched to android. My computers for the last 10 years have been only Mac, and they worked fine with android. so people saying they don't work with them are lying through their teeth.

In June, i switched to the 7Plus 256GB since my note 4 screen broke and it was replaced with the note 5 that had no expandable memory (32GB is nothing). I will say that there are things i like about the IP7, and things i like about the android. One thing that pisses me off to no end is Apple makes you jump through hoops to put photos and pdfs onto the phone. why not drag and drop, like android. I couldn't give less of a ____ about icloud. having to go through "photos" or iBooks is NOT user friendly.

again, my uses are not what most people use their phones for. there is a place for both. I understand this is macrumors, but people get so bent; it really is comical. like the nikon vs canon vs sony threads going on lately.

Only because it is the only phone with iOS. There are multiple Android phones, so the sales are divided among different companies. There are more Android phones purchased than iPhones in the world.

This reason is also a minus, as well as a positive. Splitting up the message confuses buyers as well as gives them more choices - its been proven that a few choices are good but too many choices and buyers get befuddled - fast. Apple is singular in their message and vision.

Also because Apple has spent money and time making Apple a club, an accessory, a complete paradigm, if you will. You buy an Apple product, even though less so, it's still something you tell your friends about, show off. I always said the Apple marketing team could sell ice to an eskimo, and they'd call it Apple IOS (pronounced "ice," get it??), and theyd buy it in droves.

For many, Apple is a lifestyle choice, not a tech choice, and like me, people enjoy being part of something. I admit it fully and I like it. I feel it helps me stay young, stay connected to what's happening in the world.

IM sure I'm not the only one but many people don't like to admit they do a thing because of the way it makes them feel, instead of it being based on facts, even though we all do it much of the time.

One of the things that really annoys me (just me personally)Animoji. How does animojis suppose to help me with productivity?

While I don't have much problem with other things Apple offered, but this.... I understand it's for fun, but I believe they could implement face modeling with something else.

I hope this is used to cheer people up,

Cheer them up for paying all that money?

Seriously though, we all thought we'd have flying cars and stuff. Instead we've got face modeled poop.

I'd get the Note 8 if it wasn't so big. It feels just right out of my comfort zone. Even my 7 Plus is troublesome at times but it's bearable. I do prefer less edge on the screen too.

Good for you, man. Apple's software portfolio is highly overrated. iWork and iLife are junk apps. What iPhone needs is more tinkering options. I want to use cool fonts for Messages, not useless bubble effects that impart absolutely no tone or characteristics to a text message. Too bad Apple is focused more on productivity and creativity and not customization.

Sometimes I feel when people say they can't switch they are "too invested" in the "Apple Eco system", that to me is just code for "I don't want to learn something new".

As Apple drops the ball on things like networking and media players I have moved on to other brands of routers, use a NAS for Time Machine, a Garmin Fenix instead of an iWatch, and even a Roku and a Fire TV for media (Along with my iTV 4), and I get along just fine.

I have a gaggle of Apple products, so I am invested in the "eco-system", but definitely not restricted by it.

I say try it, you might like it.

Tried it and couldn't live without iMessages and all the email apps were awful lol.

Huh? The default email program on my S7 Edge is awesome. Plus if I don't like it there are about, hmmmm, 500 other email apps to choose from like Microsoft Outlook, etc. Awful huh? Not sure what you consider good, but I'm thinking it's not great.

Oh and that PhoneI person posting in this thread...wow, just wow. This is why some make fun of iPhone users. Seriously. Wow.

I found BlueMail to be a good replacement for Spark and Apple Mail. Was easy to set up my iCloud email and my work Exchange email.

I still have an iPad, so I still have access to iMessage.

Yes the keyboard on android system is really unreliable. No face time too, no visual voicemail. But Screen is beautiful but way too big. Text, camera, phone rest are okay. Apple is simple but solid performance.
[doublepost=1505543200][/doublepost]

That's true it feel more secure on iphone than android specially business/banking thing.

Well, technically you can use google voice which is visual. For a good FaceTime replacement look at duo. It is also cross platform. For messaging use Allo which is also cross platform. Gboard is ok. I would say it does some things better than the apple keyboard but overall the Apple keyboard is better.

I stopped being married to iMessage a couple of years ago.

There is nothing especially amazing about Apple services. Google does similar or better services across the board.Google services also work perfectly well on iOS and android so migrating back and forth between as needed is way easier.

The best phone on the market is the Note 8. It’s the smartest smart phone. Everything about that design is geared toward providing solutions.

Today downloaded Gboard and its working lot better than samsung keyboard. I like messaging in android, i have Verizon so Verizon have their own messaging app its also very good. Service providers have done a very bad thing by limiting mms to 1200KB, never heard of this issue on iphone with att and iMessage. Almost all of my family members has iphones and i do FaceTime basically with my mom and small kids and they cant install/handle Duo and i am not near to set them up. I have other idevices which i can use as FaceTime. For my personal use s8 is really good, it has tons of feature, ability to do customization is huge. I mean its like a computer to me. Even though s8 has octa-cores its not as smooth/fluid as iphones. But still pretty fast. I hope apple and samsung merge together and bring some monster phones Lol

The Note 8 is an awesome phone. I'v had it a couple of days and the screen is awesome, and I am loving it so much.

It is slightly bigger than my iPhone 7 Plus, but honestly neither would fit in my pockets anyway. So what is a tad bigger going to do haha.

Aside from iMessages, everything is syncing quite well with my iPad and iMac. I will never not use a mac computer so I'm glad for that! I use Google Calendar and it syncs with iCal, etc etc.

The stock browser is just as good if not better than Safari. Adblocking works a ton better, I could never get the iPhone to block ads in Safari.

I think the few annoyances for me is:

- The Visual Voicemail. I am use to all the contacts, phone, and voicemail being together and now there are separate apps for all of them. Plus I have to use the carrier app for voicemail and you have to pay for better features. No thanks verizon. I'll stick with the basic. But it kinda sucks.

- I love all of the choices but man I get confused sometimes. For example, when to use Google Now/Google Assistant vs Bixby.

- Since I have G Suite, some of the google features aren't available to me. But hey at least google doesn't comb through my emails.

- I hate the stock keyboard, so I am using GBoard. But now I can't send gifs in texts. And yes I love emojis and gifs. I'm trying to figure out how to fix this but I don't want to change the messages app since I like the stock one.

-I hate all of the extra verizon crap added. It is 2017 verizon, we don't need your crap apps. It reminds me of the pre 2007 days of phones.

But in the grand scheme of things, I am glad I tried something else because I was disappointed in the Keynote. I'll give it a year and see how I feel this time next year, but I have to say I am liking it wayyyy more than I thought. While waiting for it to ship I was prepared to return it, and go back to my iphone 7 plus.

Yes not having visual voicemail is a problem. Need to listen all the messages, i never knew android/samsung doesn't have visual voicemail. Maybe its patented to apple. How do you send Gifs in messaging, i get error using Gboard, i cant sent Gifs?

Visual voicemail exist,(on T-mobile) and RCS Messaging (Rich Communication Services) which is like Android's version of IMessage. The issue is only a some carriers like Sprint and T-Mobile have adopted it for now.

As far as gifs, you can use android messenger which worked great on my Galaxy s7, but it needs to be updated for the note 8 as they show up way to small.

I agree with you. I'm the same.

Though the reason I stay with iPhone is the intuitive user experience, and a huge factor is Touch ID , I'll be staying with a non x model. I frankly find it a very poor experience that I have to learn a new navigation method with one apple device.....

One less pre-order to deal with.

At £1350 with AC+ that line already got smaller without the switchers ;) though we really appreciate all the very keen beta testers with lots of money :p version 2 should be a much better phone

€1548 : bargain

I may be just the opposite – what I want is Apple's operating system on the Samsung note 8. Since that's not possible, I have an older iPhone and a new samsung note 8

Right. The Note 8 isn't bigger than the Iphone 7 plus. It's actually skinnier but a hair taller. This proves people complaining about the note 8 don't have a clue.

The latest phones from Apple and Samsung show that these products are taking very different and diverging paths. Apple continues down some path that is striving for glitz and “a-ha / wow” technology....

It seems to me that what Apple has going for it is real world, day to day performance when compared to any LG, Samsung or Google flagship.

I you don't need that difference (and it is perceivable), and you think that the customization and the pen help you out, then I think we'd all understand why you'd want to give it a try.

Just remember that all of that customization comes at the expense of security and performance.

Uh..Obviously......but if your bank uses Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, and you have a choice which to use, the Samsung Pay would be the better choice since you can use it in more places.

Besides what banks are you referring too? Samsung Pay works with most major banks. If your stuck with a bank that only uses Apple Pay then yeah, use that. But Samsung Pay works better if that bank ever supports Samsung Pay in the future.

Chase
Bank of America
Wells Fargo
Citi
American Express
Discover
Capital One
US Bank
USAA
NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
SUNTRUST
BB&T
TD BANK
Synchrony
SUNTRUST
REGIONS
FIFTH tHIRD bANK
BBVA Compass
PNC

I feel as if we're talking in circles. Do you realize how many banks and credit unions there are?

Many people have check cards with a local bank and/or credit union.
