Ha. Dubious claim. A 5 second google search shows me that millions of android devices are potentially infected by malware from carrier installed crap.

No thanks, I'm staying far away.

Yup, that's the same thing as all of those conservative articles shouting "millions may be subjected to death panels". Doesn't make it any more true, thanks for proving my point.

100% agree Pat, Power to the People!
The S8 and S8+ and S8+ and duel sim is £250.00 off at the moment....with my iPhone 6 and the extra £100.00 Samsung are offering.

So for example S8+ duel sim: £779.00 minus £250.00 so £529.00, a cost I'm comfortable with.

Plus the cost includes the all important 24 month warranty.
If I can get used to android its compelling.
That's why you got a return policy.

I said the same “WOW” when I first used an S8. It soon faded away after a month of use when I returned it.

Bixby button - Annoying and useless to me, plus it’s in a bad place where I kept activating it thinking it was the volume down button

Fingerprint scanner - Didn’t even bother using it as it was in such an uncomfortable and awkward place

Performance - I noticed it began to slow down a little just after a month of usage

That and the screen “edges” being a nuisance more than a benefit. It’s just pointless eye candy.

Not saying your experience will be the same, but I just don’t agree when people say it’s the best smartphone design out there despite the above flaws. There is more to design than how it looks, if it detracts from usability then it is bad design to me.

hi, can bixby button be allocated for a different task?
I think I'd use the face unlock most of time, would this be okay mostly?
Any idea why the slowdown did you do this Root (not sure what that is) or majorly change settings?

There are apps that let you re-map the button to a different app but whether or not they are still active I am not sure. Samsung was pretty aggresive at disabling those early on.

The point is you are saying an entire OS is trash because someone wrote on the internet that in THEORY something can happen even if it's not based on facts. That is the same way Trump got elected, fear mongering based on theory rather than reality.

It's not a theory, it's a story with hard evidence that a major security firm shows millions of devices are malware infected. I'm sorry you are having a problem believing this. Maybe you should look into it.

They've patched to where it's difficult to remap it. With that being said, there are things that Bixby can do that other assistants can't do so you should research that. Basically, Bixby primarily designed for controlling your phone with secondary features being finding information.

Example being you can say a keyword to Bixby and it will do numerous actions faster than if you did it yourself, such as setting alarms, blue light filter, do not disturb all at once by saying a keyword when you want to go to sleep.

Why don't you share a link that shows the cause of that is carrier installed bloatware rather than people who fall for nigerian scam e-mails downloaded random things off the internet?

I think Apple really are playing catch-up. The notch is an example of that - they didn't get to the bezeless design first, so they've had to be different and so have this notch (if they had been first, I'm sure they'd not have it - they'd have a design more like the S8).

They were late to OLED to trotted out this line that OLEDs weren't good enough. Even with the iPhone X they're saying it's the first OLED that meets their specs, which is rubbish.

So I think Apple, rather than creating the perfect phone, are purposefully ignoring technology that would make it better, purely because Android phones got there first. I'm surprised they conceded on wireless charging - especially after saying it was pointless a few years ago.
I wouldn't say catch up, as we all know and is well publicized Apple works on all of this technology years in advance and waits until it actually works well to release. Best, not first.
We shall see how their screen stacks up soon.

On the bezeless side, I would just have to say there aren't any true bezeless phones yet on the market. The s8/s8+/note 8 sure as he'll have noticeable bezels on both top and bottom...can't give them any credit there.

I’m not entirely sure, I recently heard there’s workarounds to disable the bixby button but not sure about replacing it with a different function so you would have to look around online for more info. I didn’t bother with rooting, just downloaded some cleaning apps from the Play Store that I used a couple times a week. Even with that, I still noticed a slowdown compared to when I first got it. It became abit of a chore to constantly “clean” it.

Just search for android carrier installed malware. Plenty of links come right up.

Atleast you didn't mention Trump again in your last post.

I don't run anti-virus programs on my laptop, I'm not going to do it on my phone.

Samsung s8 and note 8 is gorgeous phones! I'd love to own one just based on the design, but I dislike android apps too much.

Of course you're correct - no phone can be truly bezeless as long as we also want cameras and sensors pointing at our face (until such a time that truly transparent displays are available - something Samsung has prototypes of), as well as an earpiece.

I the same way wireless charging isn't actually wireless.

But these phones are widely described as bezeless and, in my opinion, Apple's and the Essential Phone's are the worst solution to this pay-off.

Seems regarding Android everyone is hung up on Samsung. Bixby button's annoying etc. There are lots of Android devices. Samsung not the end all solution. Would be my last choice, or just stick with iPhone. Samsung can't even wake the assistant from sleep with a voice request. That's a big lose.
