I don't think there should have been any "dot". I think they should have left the crown the same colour as the base material on all of the watches - if people wanted to dress it up with colours after the fact, that's their prerogative. :)

A little presumptuous on Apple's part. ;)

And to appease Jony (or whomever had this hair-brained idea) - the could have included a rainbow of "dots" in the watch case - pick one or order others online.

Apple would charge for those dots.

I didn't initially like the idea of it on my gold with pink sand band watch, but I don't even notice it now.

Looks like a pimple on a models face

Well then, this is the solution ... :D

I don't like the red dot either but since I'm getting the red leather band it will look ok.
I'm sure they will be coming out with all kinds of stickers for it though.

Or embossed. Some people out there in Wristwatch Land call it a “signed crown”. Quite a few brands do it, sometimes for their upper-range models. This one’s a Seiko:
Great point! Why the hell didn't they put the Apple logo on it?? Nicely engraved. (or an imprint/recessed image)
Ok, and before someone says it...NOT IN RED!! :p

That is interesting. I could have seen Apple maybe embossing a symbol on the digital crown or some sort of insignia. Although the red dot does not disturb me. Likely something I can adjust to.

Gray, black, white- something neutral.

Gray dot is pointless. Black dot is normal (on every Series now). White dot will come. Expects for Blue & Green also.

Have a feeling this will come also.

Bright green!

Dont' kid yourself. There will be uproar on green too. This is Apple we're talking about.

Watchdots needs to hurry up already. It's been two weeks since I ordered and I still haven't received my order. Got my shipping notification on Tuesday but haven't seen them yet. Anyone know where these things ship from? This god awful red dot needs to be covered up ASAP. Sticks out like a sore thumb...such a horrible "fashion statement" made by Apple. There really should have been a non-LTE option for stainless steel.

The first generation Apple Watch actually has a water resistance rating, but it's more of a splash resistance. Series 1 has the same water resistance rating as the first generation Apple Watch. The Series 2 Apple Watch has a 50 m water resistance rating.
Though Apple underrated S0. You could easily shower with it or go swimming while keeping it on your wrist. Some people reported daily swimming with S0 w/o problems.

The biggest nuisance was the missing "water lock", leading to phantom screen touches and the speaker not working properly for some hours after getting under water.

It definitely varied with the first generation Apple Watch water resistance. I know there was one forum member who stated that they had over 600 showers with the first generation Apple Watch With no problems. And then another member mentioned how their Apple Watch got wet from washing their their hands and then the display failed. So I think there's no real definitive answer, until Apple actually increased the 50 m of water resistance with the Series 2.

Thanks for pointing out - somehow I missed the negative reports (otherwise I would have been more cautious with my S0 ). Guess the production process wasn't stable enough in the beginning to really guarantee the required IP classification for all units.

Still amazes me how this tiny red dot can upset some so badly. Is there anything else that upsets you in life or is it just this tiny red dot.

I don’t get it either. And definitely don’t get it to this level... but I am old. What would happen if you got a pimple? Not work or go to school?

I’m leaving my red dot on my edition alone. Chicks dig the red dot. When chicks see it they know I have money.

Please look at the running shoes people are wearing with jeans and such; bright oranges, yellows, reds, blues and greens.

Are people really sitting here thinking, crap I can’t wear this watch the red dot clashes.

The dot has all but disappeared to me.

People like this are going to have a heck of a time finding the right spouse as they will have to be perfect in every way. Are these the same people who have to have a safe place if they see a MAGA hat?
