It is real. It will not hurt sales and yes you are overreacting.

It is real, it will hurt sales and no, you are not overreacting. I was waiting for the cellular version to come out but I'm going to keep my version 1 until that ugly dot is gone. I too, have many different bands and it will clash with many of them. To me, it takes away from the beauty of the watch.

I have a rose gold currently and love the look of it. I was going to get rose gold in version 3 but they decided to pass on making it. A regular gold watch instead of rose gold I can live with, a target practice red dot, I cannot.

To be honest, while the watchdots are slightly on the small side, it makes a significant difference on how they are applied, if they are off centre then they look a look worse. Here is mine, while you can still see a red ring if you look closely you can't tell at normal viewing distance once it is on your wrist.

Even if it isn't perfect, I think it looks much better than the bulls eye red.

"nope i wont buy the new watch with LTE because theres a red dot on the side.. even tho the red dot shows its a cellular series 3..."

Makes sense...

I wonder how many people saying they wont buy either don't really have the desire for LTE or weren't going to buy it in the first place.

I thought the red dot would bother me but i don't even notice it

Having had a proper play with the Series 3 in the Apple Store to decide which finish I wanted, I do think the red dot looks good on the stainless steel model but not on the silver aluminium. It’s okay on the space grey and space black but, in my opinion, it’s best on the silver stainless steel model. That said, with the watch in use, I don’t notice it at all!

It didn't look great in photos but in the flesh, it looks fine, almost a none issue. Every time I look at my watch I can't even see it due to the angle.

I feel the same way about the angle. I usually don’t see it. I got everyone else’s view when my daughter tried it on a few days ago. I still think it would look better with a black crown.

I think this is a valid point. A black glossy crown dot would have been a nice feature that blending in with the display better.

I wouldn’t be surprised if people with non LTE watches started getting red dots from eBay. May become something of a fashion statement!

I wonder why Apple decided on red, though?

Red is the boldest color that is used in advertising.

“RED suggests excitement, strength, sex, passion, vitality,
aggressiveness and commands attention. Business wise it
associated with debt, is great for boldness and accents. The
most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster
heartbeat and breathing.‘

Guess the red dot is your own fault (most people),
there was really little to no difference between this and the older model, or the non cellular model, and most people want to show that they have the latest and greatest :)
why would anybody want spend so much cash if there was no difference between them.

I read it all the time, obsession with outward appearance then the new tech that is on the inside.
it's the same with everything else, especially cars, an extra chrome strip makes all the difference :)

I quite like it. However the LTE version in the UK is only available on EE. As I'm currently disentangling myself from EE due to some shocking customer service, there seems little point tying myself back in for 2 years.
