Mine suck with he mophie charger. At first the mophie light came on but the case wasn't charging at all even after 20 min. Now I finally got it to move from 77 to 81% then the mophie light went off and it stopped charging (lost connectivity on the widget). I picked them up and put them back on the charger and the Mophie light came on and its charging again. Something is dodgy. My guess id there is some sweet spot on the charger that works best and its not dead center.

I said this before:

“A rare thing happens with the wireless charging, it charges at times. I don´t know if due to the problem of the charging case, failure of the charging stand or protection from the heat generated when charging.“

EAP AND MKBHD state no sound difference to hen 1 in their reviews.
They seemed pretty convinced.

Not sure if EAP updated the firmware & IOS to the latest version?? He mentioned something about testing it in a jail broken scenario, which I didn’t like..

I have never been able to use my AirPods ver 1 with my win 10 pc and use it as a headset. Can anyone comment if this has been resolved?

Has earwax creaping into the mesh been an issue with AirPods? Could this account for the better sound quality people are experiencing with the New AirPods? ZONEofTECH has a comparison on YouTube showing the 2nd Gen as being louder. I’m wondering if that’s just due to them being cleaner.

I think that's a distinct possibility. It would account for the fact some people say (myself included) the 2nd gens sound louder - even with the latest firmware for 1st gen, while others say the volume is identical.

This has never been an issue for me...used AirPods with my Win 10 PC for the past year plus.

Can anyone speak to the range of the new AirPods? The original Airpods would cut out from my MBP when I went to the kitchen or bathroom in the house.

Is there a way to test the battery life on the case / airpods on the 1st gen other than usage?

to me they are faster.... the delay when you plug them in is better, etc. and I do think the sound is a little better but nothing significant. Siri is fast, hey siri skip is faster than me pulling up my watch to do it.

I feel like the sound slightly better. My guess is the BT5 allows more data/higher bitrate even though the speakers are probably the same. Ive always had issues when walking through intersections in SF that have stoplights where they cut in and out. If that's fixed and having the longer battery life then my 2yr old gen 1 ill be happy.

Does anyone has some play moving the "lid" from left to right and especially when the "lid" is opened moving it left to right too... I have more play vs. the V1 airpods.
Today I went to the Apple Store and they showed me the AP1 as they did not receive the AP2 yet. They had some little play too on the lid. They told me there is nothing wrong with my AP2. Tried those of my colleagues and same thing. But still I wonder if this normal. I guess I am a bit OCD but i feel my AP1 did not have that much play. Can you share your experience? Any little play or the lid is not moving at all when you move it laterally closed and opened?

I have never owned the original Airpods. I have been using the Beats X for about 2 years and have never had any complaints. To me, they are the best solution for a 'wireless' experience without the fear of losing them. Also I have had issues with every pair of earphones I have owned that do not have the eartips to let them sit inside the ear. However, I took the plunge with the wireless charging Airpods 2 and got them today. After listening to people complain about the sound quality, I actually have to admit that the sound is pleasantly surprising! They sound better than my BeatsX. On top of that, these things sit beautifully in my ear, pain free. I am really glad I have made the switch so far. The only reason I waited this long was because I am too self-conscious to be the early adopter and look like a total moron on the streets, but now everyone wears these things.

If you're in two minds, just remember you can return them in 14 days without any questions asked.
[doublepost=1553720332][/doublepost]Oh, and if you're really looking for punchy sound, this won't be the best. Get headphones instead. Bowers and Wilkins P7s are the best money can buy. Don't fall for the Beats trap. They are *****.

AirPods 2 to me only has updated hey Siri feature with the chip and a better chip so response time is quicker.
Other than that the audio quality and range is the same as the original AirPods, so if you have the gen 1 then there is absolutely no reason to upgrade. Of course if you got the cash to burn why not?
Now if you never owned the AirPods I’d suggest directly going to gen 2.

I just got mine a couple hours ago. Mine absolutely connect faster than my first gen, especially with phone calls, and my phone recognizes them more quickly when I open the case. Having the wireless charging case is nice. I have about 4 hours of calls tomorrow so I’ll test the talk time out. Looking forward to that.

Im not sure I can speak on the range because I never really pushed the limits on that with my 1st gens. I almost always have my phone with me when I’m using them.

I’m happy with the upgrade. I say it’s worth it if you’ve had your 1st gen pair for a while and the battery is degrading or you have someone to give the 1st gen pair to (I’m giving mine to my wife).

Mine were delivered a few hours ago and my observations are that yes, they do connect faster. I did an unscientific “count” (think one Mississippi, two Mississippi....) and it took 7 for the 1st gens to register on the screen when opening the lid. The 2nd gens took 2. When I put the 2nd gens in my ears, they connect very quickly, I’d say less than a second. The gen 1’s take several seconds and sometimes I need to take them out of my ear and re insert them to get them to connect. “Hey Siri” works ok, not great. I have found that certain devices take precedence over each other. If I say it by my HomePod with airpods in, the airpods take the request, if they’re out, the HomePod takes it. This leads me to believe that there is some iCloud wizardry going on which is pretty cool. As far as sound quality, it’s hard to tell. These seem louder than my first gens but I don’t really care. I think they both sound good. I did pay attention to the battery life this morning on my left gen 1. I generally listen to a streaming radio show and started listening at 6:10 am and got the low battery tone at 9:40. When I checked, the battery level was right at 10%. I took it out of my ear at that point and started some background music on my homepods and waited for my new pair to arrive.

One day using my new AirPods and I can definitely say that I love the new Hey Siri feature, it’s so useful! First of all I can set the left AirPod to previous track and the right to next track so I “gained” more controls and second I don’t have to tap my ear anymore which it wasn’t a big inconvenient but not having to do it is a great welcome. Hey Siri works really well and behaves like the HomePod so it’s fast and responsive, no more double tap, wait for it, speak and wait for it. Now it’s linear and straight, no more pauses nor waits.

The first thing I noticed, even before using it for the first time, is how BETTER THE SEAMS ARE!

If you have both Gen 1 and Gen 2 AirPods, take a moment to look very closely at them. Notice how Gen 1 has a very small crack where the two halves were assembled. Now compare with Gen 2 - where this gap is virtually eliminated, a much tighter fit.

In this way, the build quality of Gen 2 is remarkably better than Gen 1. Before you say this is merely a defect with my individual Gen 1 unit, I assure you it is not. I have looked at 4 pairs, all of which have that gap.

As much as I loved my OG AirPods, I can honestly say that for the first time AirPods now finally feel "worth it". Between "Hey Siri" support and better build quality, there's not much more that I am looking for at this time. Highly recommend grabbing a pair of these new ones (don't be lured by deals on Gen 1).
