AirPods Max Pre-Order / Order / Delivery Thread

Does anyone know how quick Best Buy ships? They have Space Gray, Silver, and now Sky Blue available to purchase online (Pink is Coming Soon, Green is Sold Out).

I’m thinking of canceling my preorder thur Apple, but don’t wanna lose my place if purchasing from Best Buy won’t make a difference.

It is listed as backordered on their site and I would advise you to use caution with Best Buy. Look back at the tread - many people had very delayed orders and they were shipping with USPS through the holidays adding delays. If you order through Best Buy, just keep your Apple order in place and cancel whichever ships last.

I ordered mine from Apple directly on December 28th with a delivery date of February 18-24. I'll post an update when I get some movement. Seeing some people order around my time frame gives me hope. Fingers crossed it gets shipped out this week 🤞🏼.
 
The Space Grays that I ordered on Amazon two days ago (1/7) arrive tomorrow 1/10. When I purchased, they were listed as available soon and delivering between 1/11 and 1/12.

I cancelled a Space Gray order I had placed with Target (1/6) that was estimated to deliver 1/13 - not because the Amazon order would arrive earlier (bonus) - but because I trust Amazon as a shipper. Their track record of hitting projected delivery dates is very good. I don't order much from Target but I've found their delivery estimates/timeframes to be well off the pace compared to Amazon. Amazon's returns are painless as well - drop off item - unpackaged - at a UPS location (I have one 5 minutes from my house) and walk away.

My recommendation is to try and purchase from Apple or Amazon first. If you can only find an order opportunity with an other vendor - do it and see if you can "upgrade" to another more reliable source while you're waiting.

My order on Dec 17 for a sky blue set went from mid-March to mid-Feb/early March within a week or so. But no movement since. I keep telling myself the delay is a blessing in disguise because it give Apple more time to at least announce a new Apple TV with support for spatial audio using the APMs. Spatial audio is my primary reason for interest in the APMs and knowing it will be supported in a new ATV would increase the likelihood that I will keep the APMs once they arrive. Not sure what I’ll do if I have to use the iPad Pro to TV via HDMI then BT audio from IPP to APM workaround. That could grow old pretty quickly.
 
Thank you to the contributors to this thread. Found a pair about 5-6 weeks before the ones I ordered from Apple were due to ship. I found that, if you‘re going to check regularly and want SG or Silver, Target seems to have stock intermittently. Amazon too. Interestingly - Apple’s stock has been zero (at my local stores) since before Christmas. BestBuy and ATT never showed inventory either. Good luck all.

Every time I check Amazon (which is a few times daily), they never have them in stock. I’ll keep trying though🧐👍🏾

Hey guys,

Crutchfield should be getting stock in on Jan 18th! I just preordered a pair! If these ship first, I will cancel my Apple order! And they seem to have ALL COLORS coming on the 18th!!😳🧐

Nothing wrong with daring to dream. I kinda feel the same way, but I don't wanna lift my hopes up too high. ;)

For whatever reason it looks like Apple's funnelling all their inventory to 3rd party retailers. They've been getting mini restocks every couple days in my province. At Apple's own stores I haven't seen pink, blue, or green since well before christmas. Maybe a SG every now and then, but that's drying up too.

Ugh... I hope they're not purposely skipping over our orders cause they technically don't have to deliver it until mid-February

Yeah I ordered last week through them because I want the sky Blue.....I should get next day delivery since I'm in VA. I hope that date sticks!

Wish the blue would popup again on Amazon. I have the silver, ready to "ship" next week, but would cancel for a Blue. Can't eve find a direct link to the Blue on Amazon - only defaults to silver or gre - randomlly!

Yeah, Sky Blue popped up as an option tab briefly on Amazon. Initially it was stated they would be in stock on Feb 21st with a Feb 23rd delivery date. So I wasn’t expecting them to be shipped so soon.

Having a lot of fun being teased by amazon with availability... only for it to not show up in the cart. Has happened twice today, then goes back to unavailable.
