I just ended up doing that exact same thing, will update when they ship.
Crutchfield has a 60 day return window minus shipping costs, according to my invoice.
i'm in the UK but have just had a similar experience: ordered on 4 jan with an estimated delivery 24 feb - 2 march. checking this morning, my card has been charged and they've moved to preparing to ship! still listed to arrive on 2 march but hoping i might now get them sooner!
Similar here (UK) ordered 28th Dec with estimated delivery of 22-26 Feb but now moved to PTS. So presumably should be here well in advance of the estimate, dependent on where they're being shipped from ?

Thanks for the tips on Best Buy and Crutchfield. I love mine, but I really wanted blue and took the SG to settle, which one should not have to do when spending this much. I didn't want to have to wait three months to get them from Apple so I placed an order with Crutchfield and one with Best Buy. Whichever one ships first is the one I keep.
UPDATE: Something rather interesting just happened. I was on Amazon seeing if they had a Sky Blue preorder as well and I noticed that the page said they had silver for $420. They are apparently returned, like new, for $420. I'm guessing it must be a pricing mistake but I jumped on it and they should be here Friday. I wanted Blue, but for $130 off, I can deal with silver. We'll see if they actually arrive.

Now had the despatch notice. Delivery tomorrow - so around 6 weeks ahead of original estimate.
I ordered silver ones on 17th of December, first they were supposed to arrive on 6th of April but that updated a few days later to 16th to 22nd of February.
Now I got a message saying they are on their way and will arrive tomorrow! One month early!

I ordered my Space Grey on DEC 18th and was given a late March ship date and that date has not moved a bit (I live in PA, USA). A little disheartening since it seems everyone who ordered the SGs around the same time said their dates have improved but I'll hold out hope for an earlier delivery. I only ordered so late because I was torn between the SGs and the Blue. I liked the Blue band but the ear cups were a little on the lite side and I don't want them to ever look dirty so I went SG.

You ordered through apple? Maybe try target or Amazon. When I ordered through Apple it was suppose to come feb 18th-24th. I ended up finding pair of SG on target on dec 24th and delivered on dec 29th.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day, but happy I’ll be getting mine much sooner than I thought. 🤩

have you considered placing an order with apple as a back up? that’s what i did: ordered on 4 jan and they’ll be delivered tomorrow, some six weeks ahead of my original date!
maybe they’re fulfilling orders so quickly by using stock that was previously earmarked for retail stores, now they’re closed due to lockdown!
I was able to get mine from AAFES (Army/Air Force store). They've sporadically had them in stock. Took a week to arrive, but no local Apple stores ever got them in stock while I checked.
Overall impressed! Not sure if they're worth $550, but it was a present to myself and I'm all in on Apple and appreciate their superior connectivity.

Anyone's Crutchfield order status now showing estimated in stock January 29th? I placed my order around 7 last night when they were showing estimated in stock on the 18th.
Yeah I just called Crutchfield to switch the card I had on file and asked about the date and she confirmed it's now the 29th of January. I'm going to keep trolling Amazon hoping to find the Sky Blue on there. I've only seen the Gray or silver....not once did I see the Blue....
same thing was JUST happening to me. Pink kept flickering with stock and even kept changing it's product page to silver. When it was available it wouldn't let me cart or appear in my saved items. I just kept refreshing until finally I secured one! I hope this isn't ghost stock and I actually get the right color

How are y'all getting other colors to show up? I only ever see Gray or Silver (I'm on the US amazon site)
it kept showing the same for me. some stock alert account on twitter posted the link so i ran to follow. it kept just giving me silver and grey and eventually just silver instead of pink but after enough refreshing pink popped up. it also then disappeared completely after i ordered. idk why this product is behaving so sketchily with amazon
