An update:
My engraved pinks ordered 12/16 have left Guangdong China and are due to me on Wednesday. 🤞 they’ll be here sooner but I’m already beating my estimate so I’ll take the win

Also if anyone cares I’m long doge but this is not financial advice 🤩
What a crazy week

I ordered a green pair yesterday and they shipped already; must be my lucky day!
Did you order before or after the estimate changed to 8-10 weeks? I just don’t understand how this keeps happening. Maybe the constraint is those retail boxes they come in? You’d think the cushions are the easiest part to produce lol.

When I placed my order, the arrival date was 2/2, I believe, so before it jumped to 8-10 weeks.

Just got in the door within the last hour from Target! Thanks to AppleZombie, I managed to snag one of two pair in Space Gray they had left! If anyone here is within the Redlands area and interested, they have one pair left!

I was thinking about the frustration many of us have / had with resellers getting stock before our Apple orders are filled, and I think it's a simple as the resellers will have placed their orders before we did.

Likely they were allowed to order before direct Apple customers, but that seems reasonable also. That means Apple has whatever is available to it when it decides it's launch day and if it's wildly popular they can only catch up with the production they have over and above the commitments they have made to their resellers, at least in the beginning.

That still doesn't explain why some regions have you guys reporting SG is readily available while I waited from 11 Dec until 28 Jan for my order to prepare to ship.

For that I think it's that NZ is because hubbed through Sydney, and my tracking suggests my pair waited for over 48 hours between preparing to ship to being shipped. In that 48 hours I expect they were part of a bulk shipment from China to Sydney - and possibly stops in between - and in Sydney the bulk is broken down to individual orders. That would mean they just haven't been popular enough in Australasia to get many bulk shipments against the other regions as everywhere has back orders.

I think that may also explain the colour discrepancy. I think it's almost certain that SG and Silver will be the more popular colours, so the actual colours are going to be lower volume. Assuming a bulk shipment is all the same colour, and further that a bulk shipment is quite a big number of individual units, there needs to be enough back order in a specific place to warrant the next bulk shipment.

'Course I've never worked in logistics nor was I involved in the logistics part when I worked in FMCG, so I could be miles off.

i was finally able to snag a space-grey from Target last evening as they only had 3 left. Arriving next Thursday.

UPDATE: I ordered from Apple. My credit card just got charged and is preparing for shipment! Just as a recap, I ordered on December 28th. My original ship date February 18th-24th then it switched to February 15th-22nd. It looks like I'll be getting them about two weeks early! Woo hoo!

Wow, same here!! I ordered on December 29 and they just moved to preparing for shipment and I had the same shipping time frame. Woo hoo here too!

Contenders…and perhaps PRETENDERS…to my Wireless Throne

Will be doing a shootout with the contenders…and PRETENDERS…to my wireless throne this weekend😁! After about an hour or so of my first listen of the AirPods Max, they sound very good. I’m not sure if the Sennheiser Momentum 3 is ready to give up it’s crown yet though. They really do sound incredible. But I’ll be in a better place to judge after this weekend. The contenders: left to right are the mighty Momentum 3 wireless, the newbie challenger Air Pods Max, and my old stalwarts, the Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless, and just for fun and kicks, my wired Sennheiser HD 6XX. Getting my drinks ready. It’s going to be a NICE weekend…🙌🏾👍🏾😎!!!

I have a background in supply chain but in no way do I consider myself an authority on it. Without turning my post into a full-blown essay, I think your first point is pretty close to spot on. In fact I'm sure Apple must have all sorts of stocking agreements with their major retail partners. These initial over-inflated estimates helped buy them time to satisfy partners while hopefully allowing them to retain some direct sales from 'loyalists' like us. Bottom line: Apple's commitment to keeping partners happy will always be much greater than fulfilling our orders. It's not like we can sue them for breaching agreements. If we couldn't wait, we could just buy from a retailer.

The second part is certainly plausible. Though I'm not necessarily convinced yet that's the case. I would think that with a new product you'd try to keep colour distribution pretty even. Only adjusting when trends are forming. Unless of course b,g,p are secretly intended as seasonal colours. One can look at SG & Silver's wide availability as either a planned excess in production or the remnants after your pending orders are filled. Either scenario gives off the same appearance from a distance. Of course Aus/NZ is a much different market than NA/Can, but we've been steadily receiving all 5 colours throughout Jan. It's just how it's being distributed amongst our retailers that seems odd at times.

My order for a SG pair I placed on 12/30 just charged and is arriving tomorrow! Glad it’s coming two weeks early. Was worried I might have to wait the full 6 or so weeks for it.

Just a quick update: everything about these headphones is high quality. I've heard all the jokes about the case, even made a few of my OWN...however, once you feel it, and the headphones in it, you're hooked. Physically, there is NOTHING else out there made like these that I know of. They are AMAZINGLY well built. As for how they SOUND...so far, very good, if a little on the low side volume wise. But I'm still early in on my listening, so I will withhold judgment on the sound for now. But either way, they are amazing enough to know for me, THEY ARE A KEEPER!
