I cancelled my Apple Music subscription yesterday in favour of TIDAL HiFi. There is quite a quality difference listening to the same track across the two services.
Thanks I will try Apple Music and if the sound quality is sub-standard, I shall consider other services although Apple Music sounds pretty good with my HomePods and AirPods Pro. I am not an audiophile though 🙂

Thread hi-jack incoming - for those using Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, etc., are you streaming music? I have an Apple Music subscription and always download my music to my devices vs. streaming it because I like the idea of not needing a strong cell signal to listen to my tunes.

I use amazon hd. I download the songs as well. If I didn't I would eat through my data cap instantly. The data transfer for an ultra HD song is massive.

So I've had a Blue pair for about three weeks, and I'm beginning to wonder if I actually like the color, or if I just grabbed it because everyone else seemed to want it.

Does anyone else feel like the blue color looks a little like a toy, or am I just overthinking it?

Stop over thinking it. I have a SG pair and actually like the blue.

Oh I love the blue. I actually had a space grey before it but ended up getting a blue one and enjoy it quite a bit more. It looks premium and very sleek. I was worried it would be a bright light blue, but its not, its more of a dark royal kind of blue with the headband and a more neutral blue for the cups. But thats just my personal opinion.

Likewise, I'm the sucker who orders the iPhone with the maximum amount of storage because I prefer to have my music available for "offline" listening.

Basically I still pay for iTunes Match for my own music library (finally gave up on maintaining a lossless iTunes library for a variety of reasons some years ago, probably convenience most of all) and then Spotify for my music "rentals", hah. I wish Apple and Spotify had lossless tiers-- who knows, maybe Apple will eventually get there. Even if it was just a purchase option and not a streaming option, I'd love to see it. (Much like you have different qualify options for video these days-- SD, HD, 4K. I just think there isn't as big of an audience for HD audio vs. video.)

On that note, however... so far I've only listened to my Apple library on the APM, and SQ is so much better for compressed / lossy music than it used to be. It is bonkers how good 256k AAC sounds on these headphones. Honestly I think I only would care to have lossless on older and/or live recordings that don't handle compression as well.

If Tidal (or Amazon HD even) had a good way to migrate my Spotify playlists over and had the same catalog available, I might consider it. I just haven't looked into it and have used Spotify long enough that moving platforms doesn't appeal to me.

Mine arrived this morning and I’ve just been using them with Apple Music for 35 minutes. Very impressed and i am hearing things in music tracks that I don’t hear with my AirPods Pro. Volume at 60% is more than adequate and I like my music loud.
Battery life seems outstanding. The only downside is that they do seem quite heavy to wear but I think I’ll get used to that.

TBH I have mostly used Audible audiobooks when out and about for a long time now - they are downloaded.

‘’Music is more while I work, so I’m streaming on WiFi.

Thanks for that tip - I’ll download the stuff I listen to repeatedly as I do steam in the car if going long distance. I’ll also add Amazon HD to my compare. I have Deezer’s high quality trial running also, but I think TIDAL’s Master tracks are a smidge better, and I like their app better also.

I’m already not noticing the weight, and battery is more than plenty for me too. I wore them for close to 10 hours on Wednesday and the battery had plenty left even though it wasn’t 100% when I started.

I rarely used my AirPods Pro for music because for me at least I feel they just can’t possibly make it sound good because of their size - I used them for audiobooks and phone / Teams calls only, but they haven’t been out of their case since I got the APMs. They’re relegated to times when I don’t want big headphones with me now.

No problem! I like Amazon HD. For Prime members its 13 bucks a month for their ultra HD library which is at lossless quality. I think its the best bang for your buck personally. I also like their app although that is personal preference. TIDAL I'm assuming is the best overall sound quality but is also quite a bit more expensive in comparison.

Yup, TIDAL is pretty much double Apple Music / Spotify and half as much again as Deezer here in NZ. I’ll look into Amazon HD pricing later - I don’t have Prime as Amazon shopping for me is always overseas so I don’t use it as much as you folks in the US or Europe likely do. I have the basic Prime Video and that’s it for now.

Got it. Yea without Prime that narrows the price gap a bit...I do believe Amazon HD has a trial version, so like you said, probably still worth a test.

not many people seem to have ordered green which is both good and bad - I have no idea when to expect them but maybe with fewer orders it won't be too long? who knows...

are most going for SG? or silver? I like the idea of silver but afraid fo the wise and marking up!
I think silver may be too vulnerable to the elements. That white mesh is going to get marked up bad. I was going for the sky blue but I’ve heard from some users that they can get mucky quite quickly as well so I went for the space grey in the end

got the green but end up selling it, my ocd can’t handle the discoloration of the mesh due to my scalp natural oil 😝. Ordered blue which seems to be the last being manufactured by apple. Blue is like a rare pokémon.

Sorry this is slightly OT for this thread, but it's active and with a lot of people who have their APMs now.

If you're on a call with them and in noise cancelling mode, does your voice get piped into the cups so you can hear yourself? I could swear that was what happened when I first got mine, but they aren't doing it anymore.
