I ordered AirPods from Apple on 30 December and my status changed today from "Processing Items" to "Preparing for Shipment" My delivery date is still listed as "Delivers 17 Feb, 2017 by 2-3 Business Days".
I ordered AirPods from Apple on New Year's Day, 2 days after you. Mine is still processing with a 22 February delivery date. I also ordered from AT&T on Friday afternoon. I am hoping one of these orders ships this week. I am leaving town on 17 February. I called Apple and tried to get expedited shipping and they told me it wasn't available for this item. I'm encouraged that your order from Apple is Preparing for Shipment. I hope your AirPods arrive sooner than it says now. Fingers crossed that I get my AirPods before I leave town.

So I had a nice, frustrating experience this past Saturday. I ordered at about 12:26pm Pacific Time this past Friday, which sounds like about 1.5 hours after the InStock notification went out (I'm not signed up; I had an order in with Apple and was just searching for news on if people were getting theirs from Apple earlier than the listed ship date of March 20). The customer service rep I chatted with at the time of my order insisted they were actually in stock (screencapped her guarantee). So I placed my order, then canceled the one I had with Apple.

Didn't see movement on it all day. Called them once I got home on Friday evening, and they couldn't tell me anything at that point. So I waited til Saturday morning and called them, and they indicated they couldn't see anything until at least 24 hours had passed from time of order, which was about 1.5 hours after I had called. Checked, no update (still "Processing Order"), so I opened up a chat again. That customer service rep "guaranteed" they would ship out for me on Monday (today), and the reason I hadn't seen an update yet was because it was the weekend. So it seems to kind of line up with what others in this thread are reporting, that whatever the CS reps are seeing on their end is indicating that there's actual stock they have (the rep indicated to me the order button would have been grayed out if it weren't in stock). So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Once I hit the point today when my order was placed on Friday, I'll check again, and if I don't see anything, I'll give them til I get home this afternoon, and if I still don't see a change in my order status, it's back on the phone again until I get an answer from *someone*.

I'm cautiously optimistic right now.

If they do actually have stock- which reps are confirming-that 15 dollar "express" shipping should've had them on the way by now. Lame.

thats not what their Chat CS are saying, i just finished a chat this morning with a different Chat rep and they are saying item is in physical stock and believe me i asked multiple times in multiple ways, i really hope it is true and i will have the item this week as the CS rep claims, i spoke to 4 different CS Reps to be certain, they all claim the item is in physical stock otherwise it would be greyed out on the site

So you didn't go to your local Apple Store this morning???

My suspicion is any orders placed on Friday may not update in their system before today. So if things aren't changing in system status by the end of today, then AT&T will have to face some rage. ;)

ATT took my money on Friday so they better have them in stock.

That's how I feel too. If they took my money, they damned well better be delivering me product, not holding on to my money for months on end. They get patience, forbearance & cautious optimism from me until about 4:00 this afternoon. Then it's time to spool up my escalation procedures with their customer service reps. :)

....and the order was cancelled by AT&T, due to the fact that they "couldn't verify my identity". Nice thing to hear after being a customer for 10 years of paying 200 bucks a month. Ugh, should've known not to even try with them.

I just got a text out of the blue from AT&T saying they "received my order", and will notify me as soon as it ships. I don't know if that's because I logged into the site to check on my order status, but it's something I didn't get when I placed my order this past Friday. I'll be keeping an eye on things.

Should have known better on my side too.

Same story with me with Verizon, twice now. AND on device trade ins. They wouldn't send a cardboard box to send them my old phone because of "fraud prevention". And I never get a notice until it's too late. When I called them on Friday the guy said when I place an order I need to call afterward and tell them. Never had a fraud issue in the decade+ I've been with them.

I wonder how they work ... weird... and I didn't even choose expedited shipping.
Very weird indeed. I didn't either, but I ordered mine about 4 hours before yours, and mine is still showing as In Process.

EDIT: Mine just changed over to "Preparing to Ship".
