Found this thread looking for information on the AirPods availability and I'm joining now so that I can post my own timeline.

Ordered from Apple on Dec. 29. Original arrival date: February 20
During the night my order was shipped via UPS from Shanghai and will arrive in a few days

Ordered from Best Buy on January 19 with an expected arrival of March 8
No movement until now (Status is "In progress")

It seems that there is movement in AT&T but Best Buy is not moving any Airpod inventory. Did anybody see progress from Best Buy or is it just a lost cause at this point?

Not that it helps the folks who haven't gotten theirs yet (I have a tracking number for my AT&T order, but that number isn't in USPS' system yet), but if there's a good takeaway from all the headache, it's this: AT&T managed to keep them in stock for almost 2 hours after a third-party alert went out to people, and people are reporting finding them in stores. This means Apple is slowly starting to get more stock into circulation. Hopefully soon it'll be easier than not to find them.

FYI for those who ordered from ATT you should be receiving three emails. The first email is a confirmation of the order. The 2nd email says that they have received your order, however it doesn't show an expected shipping date. The fine print at the bottom says that accessory only orders don't have expected shipping dates. The third email will contain tracking information once it actually ships.

I just received an email from AT&T saying they canceled my Friday afternoon order because they couldn't verify my identity! We have had two landlines and Internet with AT&T since 1980. I have had a cellphone with them since Cingular became AT&T in the late 90s! They had my iPhone number, my credit card number (which is the same that they bill our wireless accounts.). Gotta love AT&T.

Ah that makes sense, thanks for the info! I guess I'm waiting for part 3!

Same thing happened to me, I opened a chat with them and they told me that if you have personal chance recently like moved or got married, it might result the failed identification process from them. I did recently got married but I didn't change my name! I'm like I can't even order a pair of headphone without reporting my marriage to at&t?!

I am guessing the "can't verify identity" excuse is what they are using to get out of taking too many orders for stock they didn't have.
But I ordered it at 2:25pm est, don't know what the f they are doing

Local Apple store just got them in stock so I dropped everything (broke everything) and ordered pickup. Can't get to the store until Friday but they will hold for up to 2 weeks. I'll cancel my BB order once I have them in my hands.

Ah, thanks for the heads up. I put in my order at 3:15pm EST (standard shipping). My order didn't get cancelled and I got the 2nd e-mail but it hasn't shipped yet. Doesn't seem to be a pattern for who is getting theirs shipped though since some people who ordered later w/ standard shipping have theirs shipped already, and others who ordered earlier got an cancellation e-mail.

Correction: just got the "due to a system error"...... well, crap.

UPDATE: Called B&H and the rep says they have them in-stock. He re-allocated the stock on my order and changed my "back-ordered" status to delivery on Friday. They WILL be here by Friday.

For those who's orders were cancelled by AT&T did you order through your account in the AT&T app or website? Or just without signing into your account?

I logged in and then ordered through their website, so there's no way that there should have been an issue of my identity. The payment method I used was one that has been on file for years.

Got an order in with B&H moments ago only to get an out of stock email minutes later. That's 4 cancelled orders now, hahaha.

I did the same thing, and got an unable to identify me excuse. I then followed their advice, went to an AT&T store, only to be told they can't do anything because they are unable to order them.

The lack of stock is not a huge deal to me, it's the dishonest responses I've gotten from Them online and through their order system.
