A little late to update...

My comply foam tips arrived and I tried them out tonight.

First and foremost, they are immeasurably more comfortable than apple’s silicone tips but I have an issue with the AirPods anyway.

I may or may not have a defective right AirPod pro. It was difficult to seal it with the silicone tip and same with comply foam tip, did not resolve the issue. The left AirPod pro seals good with silicone or comply. I followed comply’s instructions and many times tried to “adjust” the pod but did not seal once.

Has anyone had an AirPod replaced that wouldn’t seal? I have AppleCare+ but I think normal warranty should replace it.

Have a look at this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-not-working-not-the-only-one.2208392/page-34

Try the Blu Tack and/or sucking on the inner grill. Worked for me.

I read that thread yesterday. I will not put some teacher tack on the grille, would block the sound and make a mess of the pod. I have read that a lot people have had this issue with the right airpod pro. I should contact Apple and see what they say.

No, you don't leave it on.

You press it on, remove it. Repeat a few times and it will resolve the problem. It's a design flaw.

It gets gunked up with debris from your ear.
Oh, good point, I’ll look into that. Seems to be more a cleaning issue than a design flaw.

apple recommends this:

Clean your EarPods
  1. Don't run EarPods under water.
  2. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
  3. Make sure not to get any liquid in the openings.
  4. Clean the microphone and speaker meshes gently with a dry cotton swab. ...
  5. Don't use sharp objects or abrasive materials to clean your EarPods.

Im going to try removing the comply without ruining the foam.

Recently bought the Dekonis sample pack and have now tried all 3 sizes. They are much firmer than the stock APP silicon tips and don't fit as well (in my ears anyway), having tried them for a few days now I have to say I am disappointed in them - the poor fit means the ANC is even worse than the stock APP tips (I didn't think you could get any worse since Apple borked the ANC with their first update !!).

I had exactly the same issue with my right APP. No Bass, and the Ear Tip Test always failed.
Apple replaced it under normal warranty without issues. Now everything is fine. I didn`t had to use my Apple Care +

Love the comply tips but they show not sealed in either ear on the test. But they sound great. Weird.

Last evening I ”allowed” my wife to use our petrol mower while I sat watching wearing my PROs. With no music playing ANC was 100% with Apple medium or large tips but not quite as good with the Comply equivalents.

Both are comfortable but the Comply tips fairly often detach and stick in my ear When I remove the PROs.

I bought this from Aliexpress, it's almost good. This video Turkish but it give u an idea.

Bought Airpod Pro's 3 times now. First two times I absolutely had to return them as the default silicon tips simply did not fit my ears. Bought them at launch, gave them another try 6 months later as I LOVED the idea of them, but simply couldnt make it work again.

I got them the third time because my company offered them as part of a WFH program and I figured why not. Got the comply foam tips and they were worthless. Did not do a damn thing, maybe even worse than the stock.

As a hail mary type play I also got the Dekonis. And oh my goodness the Airpod Pro's work now. They stay in, they are (moderately) comfortable, and they work like pure bliss. I take a small in my left and a medium in my right (which I actually before thought I took large in both).

I tried the Comply and went back to the Symbio foam under Apples AirPods Tips (Large/Large). Easy to clean and have better isolation / NRR for me.

Bass is a lot better with my comply tips and the pods don't fall out my ears anymore. I still have not attempted to clean up my right earpod to see if it'll seal better before trying to have it replaced under warranty. Only because it still "works", just does not seal at the moment.

I also got a strap for the airpods, just because I do not want to accidentally drop them in the dirt while running/hiking.

I purchased both the Dekonis and the Complys because the stock silicone tips kept sliding out when I would run on hot summer days. Both the Dekonis and Complys are MUCH better at staying in my ears. The added friction seems to do the trick at keeping them in.

From a sound quality standpoint, I feel like the Comply’s sound better than the Dekonis and about the same as the silicone.

Sadly my Dekonis became useless when they got a bit of moisture from the rain/sweat in them and they then ceased to act like foam.

To be fair every foam tip I have had becomes useless after about a month of use, they just cease to be like foam anymore. They instantly spring back rather than expanding slowly. I can't of feel like this is because the foam used isn't designed for long-term use.

My AirPods Pro are now failing the fit test even with blue tack so I've got a replacement pair coming.

In short I continue to be frustrated with them but the convenience of them keeps me using them. The most underrated feature is the transparency mode which is great for conference calls.

I used the CharJens for several months, after about 4 weeks they lose their foaminess and they become uncomfortable. I think for the price they're incredibly expensive.

I'll give the CharJen 2.0s a miss.

I got a set of Dekoni ear plugs with that memory foam. My initial reaction is --- it lets a LOT more sound through - I can hear the AC unit next to me enough for me to put the original ones back on. I then realized it came with 3 sizes and tried a different size only to have it worse.

I used them for about 20 mins and in that time, they fell out of my ear a lot easier than the apple buds. I have watery ear wax (vs the yellow solid stuff) and have always had issues with in-ear buds that don't seal hard. The Apple Pro ones are very good and stay in (I haven't exercised with them yet) - but the Dekoni ones were coming out rather easily after just a little bit of usage.

A big plus about the Dekoni buds - they were noticeably more comfortable. And I'm sure for most people a superior experience.

My comply do this often. They fall off in my ear or easily come off the AirPods Pro. The Dekoni stay on very well. In fact, hard to pull off. The comply have come off in my ear and had to get tweezers to retrieve them.

Ordered these the other day along with some standard foam ones from them. We'll see how they work out.

I bought the Dekonis and initially liked them. However the smell is irritating and like the Apple Silicone it irritates my sensitive ear skin.

Why can't someone make an odorless product?

Your post got me thinking. Perhaps the smell is caused by outgassing of VOC plasticizers. And perhaps these are also responsible for giving the foam that mechanical property that wears off over time.

Just a theory.

Anyways if anyone know how to get rid of the odor on Dekoni's I'm all ears.

Sure, I wasn't being precise. The point was really that the new Kickstarter campaign is marketing replacement frequency as being less of an issue. Lets see if it holds up.
