Android and IOS are largely the same, in the same way all cars are largely the same. Make phone calls, check. facebook check, twitter check, notification light. Android wins on that.

However, the devil is in the details of how each system does what it does and how each manufacturer supports it's devices. My 6s is now on IOS 10 and I like the upgrade. Some things that keep me on IOS:

- manufacturer support
- it does what I need to do, backup and recovery through itunes is surprisingly simple
- my ipad and iphone sync seamlessly and I can take calls on my ipad, etc (continuity and handoff)
- facetime and imessage are a big draw with family all over the place. (the new imessage on ios 10 is very cool)

I will be getting the iphone 7 plus 128 as soon as I can get into a store and try out the size. I am not yet sure I will like the size.

Great point about Handoff. Definitely missed it yesterday when I was upstairs with my Mac and my phone downstairs rang. Also love how iOS just works in the basic stuff. I've got Nova Launcher on my phone. To get badge notification icons, have to install what's essentially an extension, and sometimes it doesn't work. Basic stuff like that makes me want to go back at times. On the other hand, the openness of Android as a whole is a bit of a breath of fresh air. That and the amazing screen and camera. Samsung has definitely surpassed Apple in some ways, which is why you see many long time Apple users finally making the switch. It's a viable alternative to iPhones now.

Just what I thought. A microSD card that either can't be used for everything, is generally slower, and has a higher failure rate than what they use for internal storage.

Did you know professional $5000 4k video cameras use sd cards? Are you trying to say these same sd cards are too slow for selfies in smart phones?

And are you saying Samsung is giving you the same quality microSD card that you'd get in a 5000$ Camera ... for free?

Yes, America is one of the few places if not the only one where Apple's prices haven't become basically ridiculous within the last couple of years.

Except that isn t true. Apple's premium flagahip smartphone use to cost $650. Then it went up to $750 when they made the plus version. And this year it went up another $20.

Plus is code for pro, another reason for Apple to raise the price. When other companies started releasing phablets, they didn't raise their price.

Yup

Yes most did. The Note series costs more than the normal Galaxy S. Heck, the S7 Edge costs more than the S7. The 950XL costs more than the 950.

I'm having a dilemma, with the recall if they don't have any new Note 7's available soon I do not want to downgrade to an s7. I like my note 7 as I fell googles integration with stuff is a lot smarter than what apple does. My only gripes is, I didn't realize iMessage and its no limit of file sending would affect me that much. Most iPhone users don't use 3rd party apps to message and just use the stock messaging app. Also not having system wide emoji's (in apps like instagram) is a small but annoying gripe to me. I used iOS 10 on my 6s plus and it wasn't the greatest(even my wife who isn't picky has been using it too and told me this morning she is getting bored with her iPhone). The screen and camera on the note are great and if there wasn't this recall I wouldn't have buyers remorse but now Samsung is only giving me until 9/30 before they de-activate this phone(which is working fine and not getting hot at all). The question is to people who left, will you be getting a new N7 or jump back to the iPhone 7/7 plus.

Actually the 256gb card provided as a reward to some customers is a Class10 U3 which is on the faster scale and would work fine in professional 4K video recorders. We have a couple of Pro Sony 4k video cameras in our studio here and they use Class 10 U3 cards. For 1080p you would get away with Class 10 U1.

I returned my note 7 already. It has issues beyond the recall. Primarily lag and signal strength. If those get resolved it would be an amazing phone.
I greatly prefer Android notification system. I love having music controls within the same location. Back button creates a consistent experience. Notification led is great. And of course customization.
The iPhone is fast and has great battery life and excellent signal strength. And performance doesn't degrade over time as quickly as Android phones I've owned. It really needs a SAMOLED screen and 4k resolution to view the 4k videos it can take. It needs some customization options to move away from the same old boring look. And it also needs the ability to set default apps. They've really opened up to developers so they're almost there. And reduce the huge bezels.

Weird. I would have thought that there'd be some difference for an expensive camera. My bad. I'm still iffy on counting microSD cards as being equivalent to internal storage.

Tried a Note 7, laggy and a fire risk. The phones look and feel were unbelievable. The lag is horrific.

I'm being honest my 6s plus had some lag and this one has some too but its not enough to actually notice
[doublepost=1473620244][/doublepost]yes, iOS is easier to use and the apps look nicer but those god damn bezels why can't they be smaller

I tried out a Note 7. In my opinion, it's just a worse all-around phone than the 6S Plus even, and it's not close.

- The 6S was much, much snappier. This was no contest.
- The 6S+ has much better battery life, especially on stand-by. Again, no contest here.
- iOS still provides a much better experience than TW. Touchwiz jank is very real - dropped frames and microstutters everywhere. Tons of bloat and useless background processes. Janky pop-ups, half-baked features, etc. It's all still there and any reviewer who says it's "good now" is a joke.
- Apps are much better on iOS than Android. Big apps with millions of downloads and hundreds of thousands of daily users are just worse. Lower quality assets, missing animations, laggy, missing big features or apps entirely. This is a big deal, and one which can not be understated.

That said, the Note 7 looks cool, and has an awesome screen and camera. Customization is cool. Still not even in the same league of device as a 6S Plus, given my needs.

I find apps to be mixed. Some are better on ios but others are better on Android. I really don't see a clear winner.
Also, google now absolutely crushes siri. Not even close.

Tried s7 edge. Most beautiful, great screen, good camera. But curve screen is hardly usable(clicking a button will make me angry), messy system management, laggy with bloatwares.

I'm hoping like heck to get my Note7 back and get an IPhone 7 and then follow the upgrade paths for both over the next couple of years. I see big changes ahead for both platforms and this is going to be win-win for people who are platform agnostic and can adapt well to either.

I'm getting better each day at killing things that annoy me in Android. My husband is, too. And each day we both discover more things we like.

When we get the final release of iOS 10 that will be exciting to try. I hope it is reliable. I can't remember specifically which past iOS iterations were buggy crash-prone messes but I remember on iPhone 5s and on iPhone 6 Plus face-palming in exasperation over crashes and weird app behavior. I found most iterations of iOS 9 on iPhone 6sPlus worked well for me. Now IOS 10 sounds like quite a new OS and so I hope there aren't too many bugs that need stomping out.

Android is improving all the time. Touch wiz improved a lot on Note 7, so I think Samsung and Google have a more clear vision of where they need to take the OS in the future. iPhone is trying to become more fun and break out of its little grid of boxes look and feel. It's going to be an interesting future.

2016 is overall a rather weird year for Android and iOS. It's a weird year for politics, too...lol. But yeah...with Google dropping the Nexus name and Samsung's explosive Note 7 debut and unprecedented recall and Apple releasing a phone that can be seen more as an IPhone 6SS than an all new IPhone 7 and removing a feature that is still a valued standard for many...it's a weird year.
