We all loose

Mikey28 makes a good point just because paypal may guarantee the transaction doesn't mean someone doesn't loose if the seller skips. Paypal looses.
If enough people keep supporting these scammers the Paypal guarantee will go away and we all loose in the future.

Why waste time, effort, and ink. Pay a fair, honest, and legit price for your hardware.

So I've read thru most of the posts on this thread and no one seems to see this option:

Money laundering.... dirty money buys bulk products that sell fast. New legit products, but getting 50 cents on the dollar maybe a better deal then someone else offered. The new money you give them thru paypal is nice and clean and cannot be traced back to whatever possible issues the prior had

Maybe way off base but I've heard of some crap like this going on ebay before, anything is possible these days.

Whoever did purchase one I'm curious to see if you get a new MBA, look forward to hearing your results.

is everything!
an additional note of concern.. the USPS shipping status hasn't updated yet.. it's still stuck at:

Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

I've sent a ton of stuff via USPS and it always updates overnight that it was at least received at the post office...

They went on sale late wednesday night.. I was the 2nd purchase on thursday morning.. and he started shipping via USPS on friday.. So unless someone did a local pickup, they won't start showing up until monday.

USPS? If I'm paying that kind of money, I want either Fedex or UPS for REAL tracking info. I refuse to buy anything over $100 to be shipped via USPS.
Maybe anything over 750.00 but they do a good job:) I almost want to drive there and tell them I am picking it up for you :)

Maybe in your area. For me they are mediocre at best. They also have a new policy of not trying to redeliver a package on next day if you're not there.
I have to contact them via convoluted phone system to schedule a redelivery. Come on, you're going to the site anyway - why not try to redeliver?

Their tracking system is next to non-existent. I've had things delivered that show "package information received from shipper" b.s.

USPS sucks! I sent a eBay item via next day express out of the U.S. (because it is the only way that gives a tracking) and it never arrived. They said I have to wait 7 days before I can make a claim. WTF, I sent it NEXT DAY air. If it's not there next day, it's lost IMO. But there was nothing I could do and they don't care. I couldn't find the contact info for the PostMaster General to file a complaint. All I could do was wait, wait & wait. F**k the post office.

It seems that your rant is warranted, as I have title companies who send me checks in the thousands regular mail that many times never show. 48 hour stop payment, then next day air (the way it was suppose to ship originally) so above post is correct. The new increase in stamp rate is meaningless, as the root of the problem still exists. Enough of hijacking the thread; I hope you get your MBA bugout, I have a rev B and have very much enjoyed it over my replacing a MBP15".

I have been dealing with E-bay since mid 90's and have been scammed twice over the years, however I always pay with AMEX, and that is a no questions asked policy. They credit first, and investigate second. AMEX is a consumers best friend in your case (should it not arrive) and Paypal not back you (which in all measures, should). At any rate, I wish you luck and hopefully you will been soon holding your new toy.

I just had a Corsair SSD shipped by UPS and the tracking sucked (but the delivery was fast, go figure). All I got was a shipping label confirmation and then a received scan at the origin depot. That was on the evening I ordered it. Next afternoon it arrived without any other tracking updates. Two minutes after I signed for it the tracking was updated with signature confirmed. When I called them up to ask about it they said this was normal and that when a package is traveling fast they usually miss some intermediate scans. No idea if they were BSing me or not about that.

Compare that with Puralator shipping from my Apple Air purchase. I got around 10 or so updates about the package going through customs, arriving here, and then being put on the delivery truck. It was excellent tracking.

just curious: did you "take the Plunge" after having read this forum? Why would you not wait for the outcome, and decide then?

I am sure you will get your money back (I mean; I HOPE) but why would you want to put yourself through that drama.

You could have waited to see what happens with these two....

What would a CC company like Visa do - if they got word that you knew it was probably a scam - but you spent the CC's money anyways...

would they still refund your credit? Or would they put the blame on you and make you liable for the $?

yes i did see this thread before purchasing.

at the rate they've been selling on ebay, it'll be sold out before we know the outcome of the initial buyers.

in fact, i think there's only one left now which i'm sure will be gone soon. so better hurry up.

I give it a 10-20% chance that this "deal" is for real. i think the risk / benefit ratio is pretty good and didn't want to miss out.

if it's for real, i'm sure there will be a bunch of people wishing they did as i did.

they'll still refund you. no way to prove that you thought it was a scam.

i paid with american express through paypal so i've got some peace of mind.
