it looks like it's a slow model from the lux mark scores to ;) most of us have better scores than 10,118  for lux ball and 2,949 for hotel
i get 18,326 luxball and 3,212 hotel for both not shore how that translates over the rest of the tests but still not bad

Those results are odd, my 7970 makes 12388 in Luxmark Luxball. Here are some tests with 10.14.2 (updated today):

they will be on windows or linux, it's a channel that has some good workstation benchmark videos.
CAD/3D/different renders pro software and lots of quadro etc reviews

it's just nice to see reviews/benchmarks not on games

id gess there cards are close to reference, OC'ed cards are some times looked down on over stability and power use

ps where's the chart from, did you make it?

edit when you say those results do you mean mine or there's?
there both look normal to me, there's lots of screen shots in the forum with vary close results.
the luxmark scores seem massively reliant on vram speed over core clock if it helps

Their results seemed odd to me, I may boot Windows to verify, but Luxmark says it's a cross-platform benchmark. Looking at the results it isn't or he tested wrongly, either that or the Vega64 is way faster on OSX than on Windows.
Searching for Vega64 Windows/Linux results on the Luxmark website, I found none only OSX, which is also odd.
Anyway I had a go at it, entered the top-20 for the simple and medium tests, not so good on the complex test. Ran the tests 4 times, 34283 was my best result.

Yeah they're my results, it's just a simple excel chart.

in windows my score is about the same as osx (10-60 points or something in random variance).
my luxball was 1300-1400 before i OC'ed my gpu there score id bet is from a vary stock card

what you see is the difference in different cards, if you relay care look at criptocoin forums and the info they give on how to get best compute power.
they talk about vram brand
vram timings
core clock
ASIC quality

all these things matter

but relay in real world stuff it tends to not be worth the time.
if it's a big company no IT support staff will OC parts, not worth it.
for any pro app it' tends to be best not to OC (and never on a pro card) for software that's got qualified drivers.

and luxball seems to be only some kind of vram reliant test, i hope it signals pro apps but i relay dont know and dont want to spend the time to find out. it's not a reflection of game speed which is what most people want.

Ok, I don't know how we got here, but I was confirming your observation on the Luxmark scores, they're low.
1300-1400 is a bit low for a 5770, mine scores 1600 in High Sierra, 3300 for the 5870. It wouldn't run the Neumann and Hotel Lobby scenes, but I managed to run the Geekbench compute test on the as well. Now trying to get the GT120 to run, but it's old. I'll update the chart once I get the scores.

well finally doing Pixlas Mod and replaced my GTX680 to AMD RX Vega 64 (using PowerColor RX Vega 64), too bad it doesn't have boot screen
overall I have better UI experience using this new card

what about fan and noise while idling (while working or gaming i don't care cause that's what fans are here for!)

and no recognition issue on reference design?

Fan is working as it should but first I have to flashed the Bios to the nitro+ vega 64 bios.
Everything recognized by the OS.
So no problem whatsoever

So you get the speed bump from the nitro+? with a reference design? interesting. My Nitro+ take 2,5 slots XD i'd like to know how much noise it make when OS idling ;)

Not quite sure maybe a little, since I dont have data comparation between default clock (ref clock) vs after flashing to nitro+ :)
I choose reference card because I dont want to loose PCIe 2 slot (above gpu slot), even now I keep an eye to nvidia RTX card that has maximum height around 40mm such as Galax RTX 2080 (well when there a RTX web driver for Mojave I will switch since RTX has boot screen)

Cool

as you say this, it doesn't seem to be too loud when idling :)

boot screen is cool but only good if native driver support. I wouldn't go back to web drivers even for a killer gpu with boot screen support :)

With 10.14.2 Beta (18C38b) my Mac Pro (Sapphire Pulse Vega 56) dies while display sleep. Can‘t get it back to login. Just a black screen with some odd notifications. Can‘t get it to show password. Just force restart works.

IMHO, your success seems like great news.

Jut to be clear, this is the card you installed:
https://www.amazon.com/PowerColor-VEGA-64-3DisplayPort-PCI-Express/dp/B074TVHVSH

#1 You are powering via the Pixlas mod:
http://thehouseofmoth.com/mac-pro-pixlas-mod/

#2 You flashed the stock Powercolor VEGA 64 (reference) to nitro+ vega 64 bios as per this threads first post:

"To flash a different BIOS to your card it must be done using Command Prompt in Windows ran as an Administrator. The following commands will force flash a different BIOS:
AtiFlash.exe -f -p 0 path-to-new-vbios.rom (with single card installed)
Note: It appears atiflash starts the slot position count at the top. For example, if you had 2 cards installed with one in slot 3 that would be 0 and one installed in slot 1 that would be 1. So then if you wanted to flash the card in slot 1 with 2 cards installed you would type, "AtiFlash.exe -f -p 1 path-to-new-vbios.rom". If you accidentally flashed the wrong card then quickly flash it again with the correct bios before restarting the computer."

#3 You running Mojave 10.14.1.

#4 The GPU fan does not run or runs slowly (silently..?) at idle and spins up according to display load and then slows down to idle when not processing 3d/video heavy loads? Are you able to boot, sleep, and wake the system without any issues? No need to play a H.265 video?

Thanks for your time and effort

yes, correct, #1-2

#3. I'm now running Mojave 10.14.2 Beta 2

#4. The GPU fan running normal, when idle fan not running, spins up according to load and spins down according to load also temperature no need to play a H.265 video.
Boot fine (without boot screen for sure), sleep/wake normal without any issue(s).

I’m planning on purchasing a Vega FE for my ‘09 5,1 next week.

Are we for sure that the fan issue is due to the fan values in the SoftPowerPlay table? Are we able to modify these values alone or are they part of the signed vbios?

If we can, has anyone tested copying the fan values from the table of a working bios and inserting them into a non working card/bios, flashed and tested that to see if it resolved the issues?

EDIT: I've already done Pixlas mod

The card is like the perfect card for multidisplays. It's too bad about the power consumption but otherwise it's awesome. I was asking the same thing. Pval mentioned he was trying to figure it out. It would be great if we could get a modified BIOS working. I tried the SoftPowerPlay table and the kext stopped working so i gave up on that. If you get it working and want to submit step-by-step instructions that would be awesome. I read that modding that table stopped working for some.
