You wouldn't mind running Luxmark v3; Luxball? Mic and hotel scenes too maybe?
I'd be excpecting a bit over 50k from Luxball.

Thank You very much.
You didn't try it on Apples side of the OS? Don't expect a lot of difference there though, but a little bit maybe.
really? I hadn't seen Mac Studio benchmarks, but now I am laughing my ass off!
Edit: Here are more benchmarks! (I decided to make a GB5 account)

For info, we can actually push the Radeon VII to the 55000 range. It slightly beats the VII in Luxball, but not that much.
Let me know if there are any other specific benchmarks you'd like to see.
With a metal score of 131027, this ancient 12 year old Mac Pro with an AMD 6800xt just handed the ultra its a**.

Would be curious to see some Windows gaming benchmarks, but no worries if you can't do it. I had tested two AAA game titles with my RX 5700 as you might recall. If you happen to own either of those titles and don't mind testing them at 1080/1440/4K res at max settings that would be amazing to compare! Particularly Cyberpunk 2077 with Ray Tracing at max settings would be interesting!
only thing missing is running an 8k TV from this ancient cMP... and we might be close enough to handing the 7,1 the same thing you reference above! (just kidding of course.)
If Apple comes up with an updated version of the 7,1 with a PCI-e 4.0 architecture this year, that Mac Pro will also last another 10 years, expect the 7,1 to last another 5-8 years with its current PCI-e 3.0 architecture. Shame they did not launch a dual-CPU version like the 5,1Frankly, I don't see why it couldn't drive an 8k screen. Assuming it runs the current OS, and has the correct cabling. Mac Pro 5,1 forever! It's the new Apple ][!
Rdna2 cards even have AV1 decoding.Do the newer cards like the 6800 provide better h265 decoding for Canon footage for example?
AMD's response is "ridiculous" at best:I will also try contacting AMD and ask them to provide patched vbios.
If RDNA2 cards are not supported in mac OS how come Apple is selling those cards for the Mac Pro?Response and Service Request History:

My question stems from my tests with the new mac studio - it handles all those weird new formats flawlessly with its video engines- my question is, would it be possible to bring my mac pro currently equipped with two vegas up to speed with one of these new cards? Or is this then hindered somehow by software or lacking support or something like that?Rdna2 cards even have AV1 decoding.

I have Canon G6 footage and the mac pro ABSOLUTELY can not play it back, same with certain sony footage (In davinci Resolve), whereas the mac studio just laughs about it.
I thought this is only for the older mac pros? There is a separate thread to enable decoding/encoding:
Activate AMD hardware acceleration
[For existing OpenCore users, you can always download my latest OpenCore package at post #1314 for update] Full HWAccel achieved now! Everything is covered in the OpenCore thread. The step by step tutorial to enable AMD hardware acceleration is now at here, but I strongly recommend you go...forums.macrumors.com
i thought that is what you had. 7,1 should be natively supporting encoding/decodingI thought this is only for the older mac pros?
You mean if I put in a 6800 it would have better native video decoding/encoding than my current vega IIs - or even probably better to wait for the upcoming rdna3..i thought that is what you had. 7,1 should be natively supporting encoding/decoding
