You wouldn't mind running Luxmark v3; Luxball? Mic and hotel scenes too maybe?
I'd be excpecting a bit over 50k from Luxball.

Thank You very much.
You didn't try it on Apples side of the OS? Don't expect a lot of difference there though, but a little bit maybe.

Here you go, macOS:

Also, are these results good? I have a very basic understanding of benchmarks, and while I really don't care at all, it is interesting to see the 6800XT work its magic!

really? I hadn't seen Mac Studio benchmarks, but now I am laughing my ass off!

Edit: Here are more benchmarks! (I decided to make a GB5 account)

Windows:

Metal score for Mac Studio with M1 Ultra is 94583.

With a metal score of 131027, this ancient 12 year old Mac Pro with an AMD 6800xt just handed the ultra its a**.

Let me know if there are any other specific benchmarks you'd like to see.

Would be curious to see some Windows gaming benchmarks, but no worries if you can't do it. I had tested two AAA game titles with my RX 5700 as you might recall. If you happen to own either of those titles and don't mind testing them at 1080/1440/4K res at max settings that would be amazing to compare! Particularly Cyberpunk 2077 with Ray Tracing at max settings would be interesting!

Hi guys,

here is the latest web find regarding the AMD 6950 xt refresh coming soon

Question to the driver / Mac Evi rom experts:

Will this enhanced version work inside a Mac Pro 2019, (maybe with the existing Mac OS drivers) ??

Yeah, I've just been playing Elden Ring, and with the 6800XT I can get a consistent 60FPS on Ultra settings. Of course Elden does have a bug that causes frame drops, which occur from time to time.

I will get back to you on this one, as I too have been working on getting something like this next (after running the GB and Furmark stuff).

only thing missing is running an 8k TV from this ancient cMP... and we might be close enough to handing the 7,1 the same thing you reference above! ;) (just kidding of course.)

Frankly, I don't see why it couldn't drive an 8k screen. Assuming it runs the current OS, and has the correct cabling. Mac Pro 5,1 forever! It's the new Apple ][! :D

If Apple comes up with an updated version of the 7,1 with a PCI-e 4.0 architecture this year, that Mac Pro will also last another 10 years, expect the 7,1 to last another 5-8 years with its current PCI-e 3.0 architecture. Shame they did not launch a dual-CPU version like the 5,1

Do the newer cards like the 6800 provide better h265 decoding for Canon footage for example?

I will also try contacting AMD and ask them to provide patched vbios.
AMD's response is "ridiculous" at best:

Response and Service Request History:

Thank you for your email.

I would like to inform you that AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series Desktop GPUs does not support Mac OS. For the list of supported OS, please check the individual specifications of the Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs at the link below.

Thank you for contacting AMD.

If RDNA2 cards are not supported in mac OS how come Apple is selling those cards for the Mac Pro?

Rdna2 cards even have AV1 decoding.
My question stems from my tests with the new mac studio - it handles all those weird new formats flawlessly with its video engines- my question is, would it be possible to bring my mac pro currently equipped with two vegas up to speed with one of these new cards? Or is this then hindered somehow by software or lacking support or something like that?
I have Canon G6 footage and the mac pro ABSOLUTELY can not play it back, same with certain sony footage (In davinci Resolve), whereas the mac studio just laughs about it.

There is a separate thread to enable decoding/encoding:

i thought that is what you had. 7,1 should be natively supporting encoding/decoding
You mean if I put in a 6800 it would have better native video decoding/encoding than my current vega IIs - or even probably better to wait for the upcoming rdna3..

For me it's just interesting to understand if in general driver support and all that works properly under mac os with these 3rd party cards - just to consider if it makes sense to upgrade my 7.1 with a newer GPU and probably the 28core eventually or to just jump to a studio or a new mac pro later this year. People started to ask me if I want to sell my 7.1 eventually and I'm wondering to what extend it will be possible to extend the lifespan of this machine in a good way via new gpus.

AMD's response is "ridiculous" at best:

Most 1st level tech-support representatives are not that savvy with complex tech know-how, quite a lot of them hardly have any experience. They usually read off a scripted flow-chart for known issues, and there are many known issues that are well categorized. Even in tech support they have specialists teams, who actually do the research, error simulation, and find solutions to produce the categories and solutions flow-charts with scripted instructions to the 1st level representatives. It is rare a customer gets through to those specialists (who are around managerial level, though they might not actually manage teams).

Used to work in tech-support at Dell, right after university, and saw this first-hand. I suspect it might not be that extraordinarily different at AMD either.
