This is totally anecdotal but in China, I rarely meet people using android in first tier cities. Almost all young women one encounters in the city carry iPhones.

Women have an appreciation for Apple's design language and the advantages of a vertically integrated stack from software to hardware ;)
Doubt that is the reason. Women are not into tech like men are. Just like women are nor into cars like men are. They usually go for what's more popular and easily accessible. You won't find much women reading reviews and comparing phones. If you tell most women that her phone has NFC they will have a confused face Lol.
In regards to phones women seems to hold camera as their top priority. There is still a strong belief that iphones has the best camera bar none.

I was just being politically correct.
Most women do not care about RAM or storage space; they just want a good looking product that works with minimum hassle.
iPhone does that better than any Android phone for most people, at a premium price.

It sounds like it's more along the lines of "most non-tech people do not care about ..."

Samsung keeps the first spot beating Apple once again in Asia’s ‘Top 1000’ brands ranking

While Apple earned the second spot — a boost that saw it regaining that position after losing it a few times to Sony in the past few years — this comes as the third victory for Samsung against the Cupertino giant in a relatively short time. A month ago, the Korean OEM overthrew Apple as the biggest manufacturer in America, and weeks later the Galaxy Note 5 surpassed the iPhone asthe US’ most loved phone.

And let's not forget most recently, study found Samsung the number one trusted brand amongst millennials.

JP Morgan downgrades Apple stock expectations on negative macro trends, Apple Watch forecast

Overall market shift is not helping Apple. I've asked this before: Are they picking a bad year to release a modestly updated iphone 7?

At the same time, I do agree with the end of the article that Apple will also be just fine into 2017, when the real fireworks could begin. The brand is still strong and they have plenty of built momentum and money to carry them through. And if history is any indication, iphone sales could still be record breaking this year. With Apple, that's the reality.

As I've said before, arguing that Apple is doomed is a fallacy. The numbers and branding simply dont support such a drastic prediction. You can want Apple to do more and compete harder at the actual technology and software without vaguely declaring they're doomed. I certainly think they should compete harder given the increased competition, given their weakened perception by polls/surveys, given their weaker marketshare, given their first sales decline, and most importantly, given the actual technology itself. None of this = Apple is doomed.

It's just a shame that this is how we need to start seeing Apple as. As I quoted in the Forbes article from before, should Apple be seen as a company that is allowing others to advance and push the technology, while Apple waits quietly before jumping in? I guess if doing so continues to lead to record breaking sales, then I understand that might be the tempting thing to continue doing for Apple. But as that article said -- and I agree -- the smartphone market is like any other: greater competition is better for the consumer.

And none of this should be contentious points. Especially to fellow Apple fans.

It's especially silly as patents literally don't exist in China nor are they respected. If I were Apple I would forget the Chinese market as huge as it is because it's just too much hassle. Ask Jaguar Landrover and the the way the Evoque was ripped off with the 'Landwind'.

I think its a bad call not to get radical this year I just don't think a 6ss is going to create the buzz they need going into the holidays unless they revamp everything in September/October
Unfortunately it's pretty much a confirmed 6ss this year.I really wanted a new phone this year as my iPhone 6 is getting slow.If the 7 really REALLY under delivers I might just have to get the Galaxy Note 7

You can't stand the iPhone as you confirm so often. Why would you consider another one when your feels are so well documented?

Just buy the phone you like and will enjoy using.

I like being in all ecosystems.I even own a Lumia 930 on Windows 10.The reason I buy the iPhone is because it is the only device which works the best with iPad and Mac

There isn't a single worthwhile Android tablet on the market today and the cohesion between iPhone and iPad is good

The software quality is an entirely different story though

I have had a lot of android tablets in the past. But none can replace my ipad air.
I agree with you on having devices from different eco systems. I have switch between my 6s+ and various android phones all the time. It really helps one to have a healthy understanding of the differences and pros and cons between eco systems this way.

Android tablets have basically become neglected. iPad is still better imo and iPad sales are down. Android tablets maybe on life support.

Get what you enjoy using; I'm drooling over the iPhone 7 as I think it will be killer.

what features or new technology would make it a killer?
I'm thinking big cpu bump, better res screen, camera bump, water proof up from water resistant, more ram, 3dt 2, more battery capacity, faster charging than currently available, plus other updates that one doesn't know until the keynote.

Some of those I have seen in rumors. Where did you see any kind of waterproofing? I haven't seen anything on that. I think from all the rumors is that the IP7 will be a modest upgrade over the 6s and 6s+. All rumors point to this unless you have a different source? But here on MR the info says a modest upgrade at best.

Considering the 6S is pretty water resistant it make sense for the ip7 to build on that.
