iPhone 8/Plus Any iPhone 8 Plus owners now feel regret not getting the x?

I have played around with the X and the 8 plus. The x is a great device and has some nice upgrades. I still appreciate the look of the 8 plus and the touch ID vs. The x and face ID.
LCD screen is fine and the camera differences don't make much of a difference to me.

Some people appreciate the 8 plus and some people want something more cutting edge.

I did think for myself. Funny I type iPhone and surfboard into google and that is the first thing that comes up. Funny how that is all you can say.

I recently picked up a new iPhone 7 PLUS 256 GB on eBay for $550. Coming from a iPhone 6 the screen adjustment has been....interesting but its growing on me everyday. Besides, getting this for the price I did was a nice deal. I really dont care about face ID given that in situations I use my phone it would be slower, animojis are joke/gimmick. 3GB ram upgrade so far is what im enjoying, and coming from a 16gb my whole life and never having to worry about the "managing space" message again is a relief. I can wait another 2-4 years to upgrade my phone, some people cant. It's going to vary.

I'm not even gonna lie to myself. Yes, I regret getting the 8 Plus and not waiting for the X.

My wife needed a new iPhone and when AT&T ran the BOGO, I decided to move my line back from T-Mobile to AT&T and take advantage of it. I got the 8 Plus and she got the 8.

I figured the X would be hard to come by for months after launch and I didn't want to wait until January to get it, so I opted to go ahead and do the BOGO and get the 8 Plus. Boy, do I wish I'd waited now.

Yes, the internals are pretty much identical. Yes, the 8 Plus is basically the X in a larger body with a different screen and Touch ID. But damn if the X isn't freaking gorgeous and coming from the 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus the 8 Plus just feels like I've been using the same phone for the past 4 years, while the X feels like something new and fresh.

So, now I'm stuck. I can get the X, but I'd have to pay out the nose to get out of the 8 Plus from AT&T. I can keep both, but that would be idiotic.

I may just try selling the 8 Plus and cut my losses and get the X once the unlocked model is available.

I had the iPhone 8, than I changed to the X and now I'm thinking to give back the X for the 8.

The reason? I have fear that in the next two or three years the iPhone X is (much) slower or laggier than the 8 (yeah with the same processor!) or that faceID works also if I don't look the screen direct... so much better. And the problem is the money remorse: 720€ for the iPhone 8 and 1149€ for the iPhone X.

What do you think?

Why would there be anything wrong with me? I was just going off what you said about the 6/7/8 being the "joke of smartphone design" so it was only natural to assume that you had been holding out with the 5s for the last 4 years.

It’s a phone. I am sure you have better things to do than worry about a phone. Before you know it a new one will be released. Worst case you learned to have patience.

My 8 plus is fine. Have no interest in the X or Face ID.

Yes the exact same size as the 6s which is the size of the x. Notch is ugly. 8+ is the way to go

I got up an 3AM EST and got the X on launch day. I am very happy. I personally do not understand what Apple was thinking in releasing an "8" while keeping the 6 and 7. The 8 is really a 7S, in that I mean a slight upgrade to the 7.

Last weekend my daughter, whose phone is part of the IUP, wanted the 8+ to replace her 7. She knew I wasn't going to spring for the X. She "settled" for an 8+ 64GB (replaced 128GB 7).

Oh boy, what a friggin brick, especially compared to the X. It's like carrying around an iPad. All that wasted screen space. She is happy, I am happy for her, I just would never even compare the two. The 8+ feels like one of those big Samsung phones.

I said the plus was joke. When the 6 and 6 plus came out, I got the 6 plus. I did not realize just how dopey of a Phone it was going to be. I then had the 6S and 7. Back 3 years ago, sure the design was fine. Now though, not so much.

I believe your the one who quoted me right? My first post here was simple to say, yes you should regret getting the 8 plus. So yeah I have spend the last I don’t know how many post telling you and several others why I feel this way. I have seen 100 plus threads on here of plus owners telling everyone how stupid of a decision it was to get the X, and how bad of a Phone it is. Just returning the favor.

Well explanations!!

I'd argue the 8 plus is a good choice for some even if on the 7 plus because of:

1. Getting a new battery
2. Wireless charging (I use my 7+ all day as a mini tablet. Wireless brings alot of convience).
3. The display actually looks brighter with better colour than my 7+

What's the use in arguing with people who think the 8 is an inferior phone? It very obviously isn't, it just has the same design as iPhones since 2014.
