I tried 3 11 Pro's and 2 Max's. They're all more or less the same. My day 11 Pro actually happens to be the best. I freaked out a bit since it's warmer than my X. However, it's at least more uniform and less dingy than the other phones. I compared all these phones for hours. They're all calibrated the same way (different build weeks and different factories). Sometimes it's even hard to tell the difference. Some of them are slightly more dingy or less uniform than the others, but there is no striking difference between them. Also, comparing retail units to display units does not make any sense. Those run on a modified iOS. Their brightness is calibrated differently: it's brighter than retail units at max with Auto-Brightness on, but dimmer compared to the retail units with Auto Brightness turned off on both. It's done on purpose to avoid burn-in on the display units. Therefore, every person here reports the same results when they compare their retail unit to the display ones (oh, it's dimmer with Auto-Brightness on, but my phone is brighter when it's off on both blah blah blah).
I would say unless your phone is extremely uneven, there is no use in exchanging them. The're all calibrated this way, which is not a bad thing, it's just different. I would say my 11 Pro is not as blue/white as my X, but it definitely has more pop to it and the colors appear more saturated.

did you buy diffferent iPhone 11 pro and just kept the best one?

I kept my original 11 Pro and kept on buying/returning the other phones (all unlocked at full price). My office is only 5 mins away from the Grand Central Apple store, so I did that on my lunch breaks. At the end of the day, it was not worth it since my first 11 Pro is still better than the other phones I purchased. It's not ideal, as there are some minor issues with brightness uniformity. However, I can live with that. The other phones were all in the same boat and were even a bit more dingy or/and even more uneven. I think the Max screens are the worst when it comes to brightness uniformity: they're all noticeably different on both ends of the screen. Moreover, all screens are brighter on the right-hand side with various degrees of this difference. Even my X exhibits that, of course, to a lesser degree though than the new phones. I'd say that's pretty much the design thing. It might have something to do with the alignment of components inside or maybe it's the way Samsung manufactures these screens. Go figure!

Thanks for your posts. My screen has a slight uniformity issue down the right side compared to the left. No massively noticeable unless your looking for it. After wedding your posts I have decided to live with it as I don’t want to risk getting into a lottery and getting a phone with different defects etc.

I have returned 3 iPhones Pro. First, they all were too warm/yellow (also checked all the phones at the Apple Store, every one had the same problem). Second, none of the screens were uniform (TT, NightShift and Dark Mode made them look terrible). Finally got a simple iPhone 11 and gonna keep it for now, since the screen is way better then on all of the Pro's I had.

That's just ugly, and inexcusable. My issue outside of the screen lotto is debris under the glass, debris in the camera, scratches in the glass or the camera lens. It almost seems like the ability to be careful in assembly is going right out the window sadly. Pray I could get a good unit.

Do you have the S/N still and update why the manufacturing dates were on the above link ?

Nope, unfortunately not. I was in a hurry trying to find a phone that wouldn't block my work. I design interfaces for a living and need to preview the designs made on iMac on the iPhone. Yellow and uneven phones drove me crazy

It looks like all the pro screens are washed out? My wife’s 6S looks more vibrant than my 11 pro. Could this be a software issue?

I can't say I experienced that. Other than the green tint, I thought the display was well saturated, bright and exhibited excellent contrast. Damn apple for not allowing users to select different display profiles or manual tuning.

compared to my wife iPhone XS Max I feel they are looking more vibrant on my iPhone 11 Pro (non Max)

For me yes, very yellow and washed colors. swap in progress... delivery in next 2-3 weeks :/

Have you read the change log that Apple provided with iOS 13.1.2 released on September 30th? According to Apple, that update "[f]ixes a bug that could result in a loss of display calibration data." Would that have any bearing on some of the display issues discussed here? If it does, I would surmise that the update would prevent the loss of display calibration data in iPhones manufactured after September 30th. Because if the display calibration data was lost while using previous iOS versions, how could it possibly be recovered?

Can the expert eyes here help me pick one of these two? Or are they both equally bad? One of it is my wife's phone and she wants to get smaller pro so I am gong to return one. But thought to keep the one that looks "better" between the two. To me the one in left it warmer compared to the one in the right but at different light they look different and so not sure which one to keep!

Brightness at 50% on both with TT ON. I would like to keep the TT ON.

Thanks!

For me the one on the right is better (less yellow). Plus the left one seems to be less uniform on the middle right. But it’s photos after all, only you can judge wich on is the best IRL.

Go with the one that’s more uniform. The one on the left is warmer but it’s also a tad brighter. Also, as someone who tried taking pics of different iPhones for comparison, I know that in most cases these pics don’t really do justice. It’s always different in real life. Use each one in landscape and portrait orientation, see which one has more uniform brightness across the entire screen. That’s what you’re gonna notice in real life while reading. You’re not gonna compare them side by side in real life.

I could not use True Tone before 13.1.2. It was way too yellow. It seems closer to my iPad now and I am actually using it.

That’s interesting. Where did you find out about that?

I had my mini 5 with me and put it next to me 11 pro and the mini 5 screen looks so much better and a lot more vibrant. Is that a fair comparison?

Checked out between 20-22 MaxPro’s in Apple Stores all looked the same. They all were yellow
Bought another Pro Max in a hope of something better but no luck. It’s going back
Hopefully but doubtfully Apple will put out a software fix

You can take the phones into a completely dark room, set up the brightness to 40-50% and run this test full screen to check the uniformity

It's just getting mindblowing... just tried to activate true tone on my iPhone (I never used it before because it was way too YELLOW!) and now my screen is getting really crisp and white when activating it... (I was in a bright room when I dit the test).

After disabling true tone it turns yellow again.

Wtf is happening?

Strange... My iPhone 11 pro on 13.1.2 looks indeed more yellow with True Tone on. When TT off the screen looks way cooler.
