Thanks Bigbridge and Sharazani.... It will take me a couple of days to find my old businesses, or go bust.
I'm going to chage locations, because there's no way I can get enough green bucks to franchise. Booyah did not come through on that end. In fact, now that I'm not a multi millionaire every day, the coins go FAST, too.
Bigbridge, that's a kind offer to relocate. I don't know if that would help, since my businesses are all over the place (big cities).... But maybe if you relocate to where they are, and franchise in coins?

Living in Beijing challenges
Hi everyone, I am glad to have found this forum.
I am new to the game and have been having a few challenges.
Over time I will read through the 76 pages of tips and advice here but I hope that I may be able to get some more direct help sooner than that.
I am living in Beijing, as I said, and every time I log into the businesses it tells me that it cannot detect any anywhere near.
All the businesses it offers me have a popularity of 25. From a quick skim read of your posts I see that I will never do well in this game unless I can make some better progress.
I also noted some recommendations to manually select my location as somewhere popular such as New York.
Is this still the recommendation?
I cannot believe that it cannot detect any businesses here in Beijing. We physically have many of these businesses here, and the Chinene locals love iPads, iPhones and the like and they love gaming.
Is there any chance that I am just not looking in the right place, or have to change some other setting?
I have clearly made many mistakes in my initial explorations. I am currently level 8 and stuck for a while as I need more gold so that I can expand the land etc. I see recommendations that I should sell some businesses And rebuild them but will read more about that first as I am reluctant to sell something so hard earned without making sure there will be gains.
My town is currently over crowded, so needs some sorting out.
I'd love a visit from some 'experts' and some advice.

What a beautiful town you have there! It's very well thought out with all the different themed areas.
How come you already have Mount Fuji? It doesn't come up on my list for me to be able to purchase.
Maybe it's slowly being rolled out and it hasn't reached me yet.

Yeah...I just wanna say...I have personally viewed over 200 towns.
And that takes the cake as the nicest town I have ever seen. There is a lack of businesses, clearly, but the theme and flavor and use of wonders is stunning. I don't know how he has access to Mt. Fiji, but kudos to him!
Also, thanks Licat! I am adding new people to the list as we speak. Would certainly be a big help for newcomers to post all pertinent info.

I am having a hard time finding businesses with high popularity. I got some of the ones I used to have at ridiculously reduced popularity.... I found the 7-Eleven (formerly at over 50K, now at 25!). Any suggestions / advice?

You missed it...there is an Apple Computer near the Empire State Building. It is the only business, and it's a level 10.

Very cute town. I have always bought the seasonal goodies, then in my impatient/impulsive manner deleted/sold for something new or for the space. Then I've ALWAYS been sad I don't have it. Lol and looking at this town made me ache for my Christmas stuff and my turkey farm.
I want my storage locker! LolOne more thought... How do you generate the income to purchase all of that with one biz? I mean, I myself, have bought (real money) the pack of bucks a time or two, so I suppose that may have been the case....? if not, talk about a saver and mega-self control!
But that still doesn't answer the mt Fuji question, does it? Has been released before and this is a re-release?
Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful town, and kudos for all of your creativity and hard work!

I went over to the other group to check it out, and because I had bookmarked it before, I just used that. I had already registered on the new site. So I get this message saying that there's an icon and to "click here" to get the app for it. I had to pay $2.99 for it, and if I didn't buy it, I was denied access to the group. So I paid it, but this seems like a ripoff. I get that it's ProBoards who's charging it, but why are we using a host where you have to buy an app? Seems to me that's far worse than having to buy stuff for the game. I mean, we're just taking over there, not playing the game. And you startyour ranking from scratch (like newbie, member, etc.).

So I get this message saying that there's an icon and to "click here" to get the app for it. I had to pay $2.99 for it, and if I didn't buy it, I was denied access to the group. What device are you using? I went to the ProBoards, there's a popup about an app, I pressed cancel and am able to view the ProBoards with no problem on my iPhone 4S...Didn't need to pay anything on safari...
There are only a few possibilities:
a. He works for Booyah.
b. He hacked into the "item" files with a jailbroken device and found the items in the inventory. (This was done by many on the original MyTown items.)
c. He is a beta tester for MyTown.
We'll probably never know.

Sorry that you paid for the App. You didn't have to. I personally DID pay for it, because it helps me manage and keep track on the forum on my phone. You can view and navigate the site just fine on your device's web browser. ProBoards detects that you are on a mobile device and sends a pop-up that an App is available. But if you click "Cancel" it will load the normal site.
