I was sitting here thinking of him/her buying coins and saving up for things, and wondering if mt Fuji had been released before... Lol I never even considered option b or c. Option a had crossed my mind. Sigh. 
There are only a few possibilities:
a. He works for Booyah.
b. He hacked into the "item" files with a jailbroken device and found the items in the inventory. (This was done by many on the original MyTown items.)
c. He is a beta tester for MyTown.
We'll probably never know.

I am living in Beijing, as I said, and every time I log into the businesses it tells me that it cannot detect any anywhere near me.

I am in a different time zone so may not always respond immediately - and of course there is work that gets in the way of life

I am having a hard time finding businesses with high popularity. I got some of the ones I used to have at ridiculously reduced popularity.... I found the 7-Eleven (formerly at over 50K, now at 25!). Any suggestions / advice?

i haven't posted about candy land for a while, about how much i appreciate his franchises "every single day" but it goes without saying now right?
Update on New Johnstown:
Rapid progress, except for.... WAITING.... Remember the days when you couldn't unlock certain items until reaching a star level?.. lol
Waiting for land to clear, buildings with population to build, community things to build, businesses to level up.... Before, I had it under control, but now I'm trying to rush. Again, there is no other way without more greenbacks. If anyone is green buck rich, please franchise me. I'm not desperate, but it would give my cluttered, messy new town, a little breathing room.
On the up side, my stars are actually going somewhere, for a change. Hahahaha. Also, I got all new housing. The few businesses I can find, are better than my first 10. In a day, I've gotten to star level 24, population level 17, and I'm approaching the same income receipts, pretty quickly. Population would be higher if all buildings would build instantly

Can't Visit some cities?!?

I have been a silent reader since page #1 of this forum. It has been a great pleasure reading and learning from all of you. I have a challenge now that I can't seem to fix. I have met a few great mayors, who have been giving me great gifts (my only source of green bucks). But lately, I can't get into some of their towns. Every time I got in their town, my Ipad (original) kicked me out, and my game got reset to the last time I played. It is really annoying not being able to gift back to my fellow mayors. Have any of your experienced the same thing?
(hayemyes48, Montadasville, if you are reading, sorry I couldn't return gift last few days, but I promised I'll as soon as I get this problem fixed!)
One last question, I tried the change location method, but it didn't work on my ipad. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me buy some businesses in other cities with coins? We really don't have many businesses with high popularity in Toronto.

As I have said, I wish that I have MORE gifts so I can return favor to those who gifted me, and for the extras that I just wish to gift mainly because I wish to. I do not believe you made any errors, your town looks fine. The difficulty is because, as far as MT2 is concerned, the high popularity towns are in "known" locations such as New York City, New York USA, San Francisco, California USA, Paris France, Berlin Germany, Rome Italy, etc. Without being a criticism in any way, people are not as familiar with Beijing, China. Anyone physically located in a small town also has the same disadvantage of not having many, if any, known/popular businesses near them. If a business is not purchased/franchised or even visited (Check-ins), the popularity will not increase. That is the reason why many have changed their locations. There are indeed other players that created wonderful towns without changing locations, and while it is slower to progress, those towns are no less successful.
You mentioned you need coins. One way to quickly generate coins is to remodel all your businesses into "Offices" and then buy Stock Exchanges. Each SE boosts revenue by 20% and stacks. Read my post #1057. I wrote about stacking Wonders (including the Stock Exchange) and about deciding to sell or not to sell.
You will also need Booyah Bucks.
There is a lot of information out there. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Hi everyone, I am glad to have found this forum.
I am new to the game and have been having a few challenges.
Over time I will read through the 76 pages of tips and advice here but I hope that I may be able to get some more direct help sooner than that.
I am living in Beijing, as I said, and every time I log into the businesses it tells me that it cannot detect any anywhere near.
All the businesses it offers me have a popularity of 25. From a quick skim read of your posts I see that I will never do well in this game unless I can make some better progress.
I also noted some recommendations to manually select my location as somewhere popular such as New York.
Is this still the recommendation?
I cannot believe that it cannot detect any businesses here in Beijing. We physically have many of these businesses here, and the Chinene locals love iPads, iPhones and the like and they love gaming.
Is there any chance that I am just not looking in the right place, or have to change some other setting?
I have clearly made many mistakes in my initial explorations. I am currently level 8 and stuck for a while as I need more gold so that I can expand the land etc. I see recommendations that I should sell some businesses And rebuild them but will read more about that first as I am reluctant to sell something so hard earned without making sure there will be gains.
My town is currently over crowded, so needs some sorting out.
I'd love a visit from some 'experts' and some advice.

Since everyone has been thanking cAndy Land for his very generous franchising of their businesses, it's time for me to toss my hat into the ring.
I was flabbergasted to visit my town just now to find that two (!) of my businesses have been franchised. I don't have many popular businesses - they're all local, with the exception of "Goddess Valley" (my miniature rendition of Silicon Valley) and some SF places (and one near Napa), so I'm always surprised when someone wants one. But cAndy Land was kind enough to do so! This is the first time he's visited me, and I couldn't be more grateful.

I just franchised locally from someone & it went from 46xx in their town to 649 in mine :-/
normally I fanchise premium skins, but I went for population; for naught!

I live in DC now, but used to live on SD.
u r the first town I've seen with a premium karate skin... & my youngest takes taekwando. I couldn't resist with the skin I wanted & it being in SD. (since I JUST posted I was going to wait to buy any more businesses...lol)
