Wow 10 pages already. Interesting sign on how quickly things change. If this topic was posted 10 years ago wouldn't have been a "hot" issue. Anyway carry on.

You weren’t around in July 1999 or September 2000 when the clamshell iBooks came out and insecure dudes across the technosphere were freaking out about the curves, the handle, the silicone, and the lively hues. The release of the graphite iBook SE in February 2000 was a small effort to get those guys to settle down a bit.

Well I missed those years. I was PC only then playing Quake III and Counterstrike.

On average, I find females attractive. I like looking at them. I have worked with them and often found it rewarding. So why should I not have a computer that reminds me of a woman, since I like looking at and working with them? Who are you to tell me that it is wrong for me to have pretty things?

Even the silver version, maybe because of the white bezels, is hard to imagine in a guy’s room or office.

I’m not opposed to color, but the particular colors chosen and the pastel-looking tone of the stands. It just veers pretty hard into the feminine lane.

Black bezels and a black Apple logo on the front might go a long way to improve the silver iMac to my macho manly eyes.
Surely you are joking? Black bezels are for men and white bezels are for women? Your world must be a challenging world to live in.

I would gladly buy a pastel imac, and I am not what you would call an effeminate man.

There are a few things keeping me away from these, (size, VESA compatibility, performance etc) but color is not one of them.

I really hope that they bring back colorful larger electronics as a trend. You can get some, but they are generally low end. I would love a high end yellow TV, or a teal microwave.

Feminine colours? No. Garish? Yes. But that is just my own personal view.

I am starting to kind of like the Grey, the Blue would actually be nice if the shade on the back was actually up front.
the front pastel-y colors up against the white is just... yeesh. I'm sure it's to someone's taste, but I'm not sure how universal it'll pan out to be.

LOL, ridiculous. I'm a guy and I'm exactly going for the white and silver iMac for my setup because my setup is mostly white and silver and I like matching decor. I've also only gotten white iPhones and iPads over the years because that's just my color of choice when it comes to my devices.

You just keep digging yourself into a deeper hole here.

Remember those G3 iBooks with all colors ?

I'm now wondering if all the people who are commenting about the colors are too young to remember the same comments that were made at the time?

If you had to guess, you’d say this is a man’s bedroom?

This is a different argument, though. No one is suggesting that there is no such thing as traditionally masculine design or traditionally feminine design, or even that some colors (pink, for example) aren't more popular with women than men. Your original point was that yesterday's iMacs -- all of them, apparently -- are inherently feminine. This picture doesn't support that argument.

They are VESA compatible.
From what others were saying you need to buy a VESA specific model like the old one. Not like the original version where the stand was removable.

The VESA specific model will have very limited resale value so I am not interested.

My inbox is overflowing with likes - I get notified every 5 minutes with another one.

But yeah, I’m “digging myself into a deeper hole”... due to my opinion on an iMac. LOL

The emotional, hysterical reactions some people are having in this thread give me life.

I suggest you read some of the posts in this thread, starting with the one I was replying to directly with the bedroom picture.

And I’m not making an “argument”. I’m stating an opinion.

Overflowing? You sure, we can see them as well you know. The majority of the 'reactions' are not likes.
Knock yourself out and count them then, if that makes you happy. Even more were received since you posted your reply.

Majority or not, there sure are a lot of them considering this supposed hole I’m digging for myself.

Chill people, you can describe an object as feminine or masculine and not be insecure.

I do think the new iMacs look traditionally “feminine,” in that their front facing part is pastel, less saturated colors. It’s more warm and inviting than the pure industrial look of the iMacs we’ve had for awhile.
