Chill people, you can describe an object as feminine or masculine and not be insecure.

I do think the new iMacs look traditionally “feminine,” in that their front facing part is pastel, less saturated colors. It’s more warm and inviting than the pure industrial look of the iMacs we’ve had for awhile.
Well I showed my 11 year old daughter the new iMacs. She loved them. :)

I think you need a break from the internet, it does not agree with you. In more ways than one.
What’s with all the likes I’m getting then? Or are you still pretending you can’t see them? Not to mention all of the replies in this thread agreeing that they look feminine. Can’t see those either?

gloomy grey is all very well if you like that sort of thing: some of us prefer joyful colours
I love gloomy grey or even better black. I am still using a Series 3 Apple Watch because they don't make one in Black Stainless Steel anymore.

I would have liked to see a color similar to the original Macs. That off white grayish cream color.

I’m not too sure about that, the wallpaper is even a throwback to the old “aqua” design language. I think nostalgia played a factor in the design.

Yes, upon reflection it probably did. But I still believe Apple did not-insignificant focus grouping which brought them to the design decisions they did.

The large(r)-display "iMac Pro" will be the model released in "sober" colors like Space Grey and Silver.

Uhhh... if it's likes we're measuring now, your post doesn't do very well against the second post in the thread.

Even the silver version, maybe because of the white bezels, is hard to imagine in a guy’s room or office.

I’m not opposed to color, but the particular colors chosen and the pastel-looking tone of the stands. It just veers pretty hard into the feminine lane.

Black bezels and a black Apple logo on the front might go a long way to improve the silver iMac to my macho manly eyes.

Maybe it’s time for you to stop associating color with gender....

On average, I find females attractive. I like looking at them. I have worked with them and often found it rewarding. So why should I not have a computer that reminds me of a woman, since I like looking at and working with them? Who are you to tell me that it is wrong for me to have pretty things?
Add another to the growing list of those who agree with me that they look feminine.

This is quite the hole I’m digging. If I dig any deeper, I’ll be in the clouds. LOL

Are you serious? You're playing a joke on us, isn't? But you mentioned 'my macho manly eyes".

That’s because this is not a French language forum and we don’t assign gender to inanimate objects.

well most of us don’t.
I like your answer. I speak French and true French assigns gender to inanimate objects like a table is feminine but a computer is masculine. Just to let you know, Italian and Russian and Arabic also assign gender to inanimate things...

I guess we can disagree on the fact that the OP wasn’t being disdainful. But the tone and words he chose clearly show that’s not the case IMHO. He wrote a lot more than that in this thread that reinforces his disdain for “feminine” things... it’s there for all to see.

I take offense to his association of certain colors with gender because I disagree with it, and I think it’s an example of toxic masculinity and outdated ways of thinking. I am allowed to feel that way and express it, and I am doing so.

So, the OP has his opinions of certain colors being associated with certain genders. But he goes farther and when people point out that it’s only his opinion and not shared by all, he accuses everybody that disagrees with him of lying and being disingenuous. Now THAT everybody should have a problem with.
I can just see this scenario working out at Apple HQ between T.C. and the head of R&D:
Tim C: Ah...the new iMacs! What colors are you thinking and what is your projection in terms of sales in terms of men/women, old/young, professional vs casual user?

R&D: Ah...but Tim, that’s the good news I have for you. Color doesn’t matter. We can color them pink, black, green, brown, polka dots and guess what? They will all sell equally across all demographics.

Tim C: Note to self - “Cut R&D and advertising budgets! We’ve been doing this all wrong!

I wouldn’t say feminine but they do look juvenile
mmmm this may have nailed it in combination with the original poster's meaning which I would like to think was not meant to be negative at all. it was merely descriptive like saying "you throw like a girl" kind of thing. I should add that reading some of the posts were sadly and I mean sadly entertaining.

Look, I know you're just going to try to distract by saying "oooh, you're another one getting all emotional about it", but really, I don't even know what you mean. They're just computers with a colorful enclosure.

They're not the specs I want, but even as a red blooded Merkin male I wouldn't have a problem with one of these on my desk. The silver one looks dull in comparison. Yes I know what a merkin is.

But would it matter even if they did look feminine? My daughters used to "do" my hair when they were little. The guy who trimmed our trees came to our door once shortly after they'd put my hair in scrunchies and I didn't realize until after he left. I didn't know why he was looking at me like that. It was funny and I didn't feel feminized.

Anyone else think the iMac looks, for lack of a better word, “feminine”?”

No, I didn’t, and don’t, think that when I look at the iMacs. The sight of the computers does not deter me, as a man, from owning one.

The chin/Ethernet/M1/sub-iPadPro camera/lack of faceID does. Thinness for a desktop matters far less to me than the colours do. And some depth, trim the bezels, utilize the foot/stand, etc.

The colours are just colours.
I have some sweet pastel sneakers. Lots of colourful shirts but I’m wearing black right now so I’m dressed… masculine? Wait, this so weird….

The more I consider your comment the less sense it makes.
My wife and I both chose a green car. Not mint. I had blue, white, grey, and “tangerine”, and before.

Next up, wine goblets. Hers is black, mine is white and blue and pink.
Oh and I’m a bit colourblind.

Can we stop now?
