Why are people suddenly wanting to sell their 11 for this? Why didn’t people want the iPhone 8? That’s basically what the SE is....Just because it’s new doesn’t mean you have to get it.

People will be disappointed coming from an 11. Unless you want a smaller phone.

I truthfully think there's an element of it just being new, people want a new iPhone and decide what their preferences are later.

The price is attractive as well. 8 was $699 at the time. This is $300 cheaper base. And a $50 bump option to 128 vs $150 bump to 256 at the time left people sorta in a tough situation. $849 for an 8 with 'enough' storage if 64gb didn't cut it was a lot to ask for. $449 is more palatable, then the price difference becomes $400 ($849 for 256 8 at launch, vs. $449 for 128 SE2 at launch)

8 was also in the shadows of X, the newest thing and the change to iPhone direction for the first time in ever. Felt like going with the 'most refined' version of 6 at the time, or the brand new thing. Now that X form has been out for 2.5 years, and the dust has settled, some people want to return to 6 form. They have phablet exhaustion. FaceID / swipe up exhaustion. Maybe even notch and round corners exhaustion.

That's my best explanation.

I actually picked up an 8 briefly, in white ,and really liked it but didn't $699+tax like it for the 64gb.

I also think there's comfort in buying an Se model. SE1 lasted 4 years, and is still supported. If you were on that track, there was no incentive to upgrade because there was no successor. I suspect there to be an equally large gap between SE2 and 3. 3GB finally in 4.7", even though we're now at 4gb and probably in the fall going to be at 6gb, is a plus.

Maybe lots of people are drawn to this as a nice holdover device before buying some 12 variant in the fall without breaking the bank as if they were buying a flagship device. Add in the $199 deals and things start to get REALLY tempting.

I got my new iPhone SE yesterday, black, 256GB. I upgraded from the previous 4 inch iPhone SE (64GB).

So far I like it. I used the iPhone data migration feature shown here:

It was a bit slow but it got the job done, so it's fine. All the apps had to be re-downloaded on the new SE. I did notice that I had two Oblique Strategies apps on the old SE that I didn't really use which were removed from the App Store, so I don't have access to them on my new SE. If you're concerned about that, perhaps look into migrating your iPhone data through other ways.

The main thing that I'm concerned with is that it's easier for the new SE to slip out of my hand when I'm using it while laying in bed and having it fall on my face or something.

I've been used to my original iPhone SE smaller 4 inch screen. Recently I also bought my mom an Android phone, a Vivo Y3 with a 6.35 inch screen (https://www.gsmarena.com/vivo_y3-9949.php) and that screen was enormous, and I definitely had to use both hands to use it. When I compared that 6.35 inch screen to my old 4 inch screen, it was a massive difference and it was weird to move between the two phones.

Given my experience, I do like the new iPhone SE's 4.7 inch screen size overall.

Well, I'm toying with selling my 11 for this, so I'm really anxious to hear people's thoughts.

Your avatar pic looks like "Helen Hunt" is that pic yours? :)

I have Verizon and have been contemplating the same switch. How do you like Xfinity Mobile so far?!

Xfinity Mobile piggybacks on Verizon Towers.

Xfinity comes with "free" unlimited talk and Text-plus a tiny bit of tax = < $3.00 . I pay $12.00 by the gig-Im not a big data user as i<m home alot.

ATT was charging me around $22.00 of taxes and fees per line. $99 per month 1 phone.

Does this process work if the old iPhone is on iOS12.4.6 and the new one is iOS13?

On YouTube people are raving about it as the phone for families, phone for the rest of the masses who don’t want to spend over $500 but want something reliable and that’ll last. It’s not for everyone and people here, geeks like me wont be satisfied with one, but for everyone else I recommend the se for the affordable phone with almost no compromises.

So family of 5 = 5 x $500.00 = $2,500.00 = Affordable phones for Families??
Yea, if your upper middle class!! ;)

Where did you get they would by 5 iPhone SE at once? A scenario might i envision when I made that comment is a family needs to buy a phone for their again grandma to they can face time. Buy iPhone se. or jimmy just got accepted to NYU, he needs a phone when he does to college. Let’s get him an se.

Or In my case, my 65 yr old moms 5s is crapping out. I’ll buy her an SE. I won’t buy it myself cause I want the high end models but she herself wouldn’t want a $1k iPhone cause she doesn’t even take pictures! She just needs to text and look at occasional articles. And she wants the smallest phone possible and complains all other phones are too big.

My dad went from 7 to 11 and will gladly go back to a smaller phone. I've convinced him (okay, badgered) to wait for the iPhone 12 though since TouchID never worked for him.

Buy from Walmart. 5x $250 (128GB) = $1,250. ;)

That said, $2,500 (or ~$100/mo on installment) is still significantly cheaper than 5x $700-750 iPhone 11 or 5x $1000+ 11 Pro.

Hmm, I'm not totally sure but I would think it'd be ok.

When I did the update, my original SE was already on iOS 13.4.1, while the new SE was on some older version (likely iOS 13.x but not sure what). During the transfer, the new SE prompted me to update to iOS 13.4.1, which I ignored for about 30 minutes. Nothing else seemed to happen during that time and then I figured that was a required step, so then I did the iOS update. After that, then things proceeded.

Yeah - thought I'd update my avatar pic that was nearly 8 years old.

Yes, picked up a new SE today in Italy after my 6S suddenly died (not COVID-19 related). The cover from my old 6S fits the SE perfectly, as expected, but the camera lens cutout is in the wrong place and speaker holes are slightly different :) The restore process worked perfectly. Camera is better. Overall it feels more snappy and in general, very familiar.

Got mine this morning. Black and red, love it.

Just finishing up downloading a ton of songs on Apple Music for my rock playlist. Phone is very fast and it's a nice upgrade from the original SE for me.

No complaints on my end, I got what I wanted.

I got it because I don't like large phones, and I don't like the notch phones at all. Too big and the notch is awful. I also like Touch ID. So the SE 2 is perfect for me. I tried the 11 and hated it, I sent it back.

Plus, the SE's price is just perfect. I paid $50 more for the 128GB version and it's still a great price. I have no need of the better cameras on the notch phones.

I came from the SE 1, so this is a big upgrade for me.

Mine’s coming later today. While I mostly lean towards Android I’m looking forward to trying out the updated SE. Smaller phones are practically unheard of these days for Android. This 4.7 should be a good fit for me and after having a 7 and a 6s previously I know I will appreciate the smaller size. I also need an iPhone to try the upcoming ios14 beta. As well as having a backup device as I will retain my pixel for that.
This pandemic is far from over and a couple of weeks ago I suddenly realized I had no back up and if my pixel was to become useless for whatever reason all stores are closed and I’d be stuck without communications. I feel better having that 2nd device just in case. 😁

Received mine last week but returned it today. I found the display (despite trying various setting combinations in Display and Accessibility) bothered my eyes. Not sharp text when reading and a slight eye burning feeling). This does not happen on my original iPhone SE or on my Samsung Galaxy S10e. I may be the only one experiencing this but it was unpleasant and I could not put up with it for the long term so back it went. Fortunately I purchased it from Apple online and not from one of the Premium Resellers here as the resellers don't have the 14 day return policy.

Mine is scheduled to arrive on May 12th.
My delivery was out there another week to wait and even said delayed for a couple of days, then got an update and said was coming sooner, a whole week sooner, so maybe you’ll get it sooner than later as I think this is common.

I got mine on launch day. Traded-In my iPhone 8 in pristine condition for $170. This has turned out to be my WORST experience ever. Apple’s trade partner Phibio revised my value down to ZERO saying the screen had “lifted”. When I boxed the phone for shipping in the designated packaging, you could not tell the difference between my iPhone 8 & my brand new iphone SE. Either something happened during FedEx transit of Phobio damaged it on arrival.

I should have taken pictures B4 I sent it but I never had any problems before. Either way, I’ve contacted Apple, received photos of the damage which I can‘t really see all that well and rejected the offer of $0. I can’t wait to see the condition of the iPhone 8 when Phobio sends it back to me.

I am not inclined to ever do any trade-in business with Apple thru Phobio ever again If it doesn’t warrant it’s partner’s actions. Anyone else ever have such an issue? Any suggestions?

Wow, bad situation and damn frustrating. A few months ago I took my original iPhone SE to an outfit here in Finland called SWAPPIE. In their storefront they examined my mint condition SE and said I would get 100 Euros, subject to a further review by one of their "technicians". A day later I get an email from them saying that they would give me 5 Euros as their "experts" were unable to connect the phone to a network...I told them that it was working fine with my Sim card on one of the three major networks in Finland one minute before I gave it to them. They said that their "experts" tried numerous times with no luck. So I told them they were idiots and scam artists and picked up my phone. Today, seven months later it is working like new. These guys are crooks and hope that most people just shrug and believe what they are told.

Must frustrating part is that Phobio is Apple’s designated trade-in partner: I didn’t pick it. If Apple won’t stand behind the process, who‘s going to trust it with a trade-in? Obviously I had no need to buy a new iphone SE but with the trade-in, I figured I get an upgraded chip set etc for $279 net. Now it cost me $449 instead. I’ve been using Apple products since 1984 (including an original Mac which I still have) but ...

SWAPPIE in Finland has no official connection with Apple as far as I am aware but in your case there is a partner relationship. I have used Apple products since 1998 but the current company, leadership, ethics, product quality and quality control pales compared to years past. Once my 2013 MBP and original SE stop functioning that will be the end of my relationship with Apple unless they do an unexpected about-face in the meantime.
