I finally got my phone! I called again to confirm that they were able to activate T-Mobile trade ins before I left and a very bored-sounding person on the phone said they had no issues, so I went to Best Buy.

I get there and I tell them I'm there to pick up a phone. They ask if it's thru T-Mobile, I say yeah.
They say that their systems have been unsuccessful all day in processing T-Mobile trade-ins, and that I probably wasn't able to get my phone today. I told them the guy on the phone said the opposite, and they shrugged it off. They said they could try anyway.

We went through the process, and they were telling me to expect an error to pop-up at the very end. They even had a guy from Apple there (wearing apple shirt + had an apple employee badge) who was helping them troubleshoot/observe what was going on. They verified the condition of my phone, signed out of Find My, and did all the activation steps at the register. At the very last step when they were expecting the error, the activation magically went through and they were honestly in as much disbelief as I was, lol. I then reset my phone, handed it over to them, and left with my new iPhone! Crazy day but it worked out.

I don't know if the system got fixed right before I got there, or if I got lucky (they said after that they're going to start telling people it's a case-by-case basis). But the staff was really friendly and seemed knowledgeable/knew what they were doing so maybe that helped.
What was your status of your pickup beforehand?

My phone is officially delayed! I ordered it on the first day we could at 9:58 AM. The phone was expected for launch day delivery pickup today. After hours of nothing…welp.

Anybody know how the tax is calculated? I read the terms and conditions and it says sales tax of the product before the trade in, but I also see that with my iPhone 12 Pro trade in the extra cost is 99 dollars plus 10% of 99 dollars only per checkout page (just trying to see). I am not sure if they will decide to charge more tax later or not...

I am asking because I am in Portland, OR, half of the time, but this week I am in Seattle... if the tax is only 10 dollars I might as well just pick one up tomorrow....

Aww unfortunate VertPin.

I ended up getting an email saying it was ready at about 10AM, picked it up close to 11AM. They did ask if I wanted help setup, etc, but pass, I need to get back to work. But it's working and great.

I do have to agree, BB reservation and pickup system needs work/improvement....

It’s ok! It’ll come. :) what model did you get?

Ended up getting the Sierra Blue Pro Max, in 512GB.

I used to get the new iPhone every year..... but after going from X to XS, I decided it really wasn't worth it. So going from the Xs Max to 13 Max Pro has been a nice upgrade change. Though I suspect the next upgrade will probably be in 2-4 years, gen on gen CPU/GPU increase and small design changes isn't worth it to me anymore.

Mine is still its running late, we will email you when it’s ready. But they dinged my card this morning ….
Edit: just got the come get you phone email.

Ok well even though I wasn’t exactly in a rush to upgrade my iPhone anyhow I am slightly annoyed that my local bestbuy said the 13 was in stock for launch day and I still haven’t received any order updates.

Borderline false advertisement for it not to be ready.

On the other hand I do have a fresh ringke case and screen protector on my desk ready to be installed.

Got the pick-up email from Best Buy and drove over. Total waste of time. They were unable to activate any T-mobile phone, they state it’s a nationwide problem with BB and T-mobile. They are hoping it gets resolved “in a few days.” What a ********, I always buy my phone from apple directly and I was only lured away to BB by the high trade in values. What clowns.

BB is not my top choice. Recently, I have been buying iTunes gift cards from Target and BB when they are 10-20% off. With Target, the extra gift cards issued with iTunes are all in one place and I was able to use them easily. For BB, each individual gift card code was issued for each purchase. It turns out that recently, all of my purchase history disappears and I have lost about 50 dollar plus of gift card codes I have not used. I just do not have time to contact them yet, but I do not think I want to buy anything from them anytime soon.

Same thing just happened to me. Come back later, they’ve got no idea

What a joke. the Supervisor who was trying to help me yesterday promised he’d call me today either way, of course I haven’t heard from him. When I tried to call the local number on the business card he gave me, I got their national customer service. Apparently you can’t actually call the local store anymore. And of course she didn’t know anything. She said the only to contact the store is to go to the store. So I was about to do that when I saw your post that you had the same problem today. 🤬

Wanted to chime in and say all of the above has happened to me. Pre-ordered a 13 mini on day 1 when orders went live. No status update all yesterday, finally around 10 pm I got the "delayed" email. No updates today. Phone had been in and out of stock at other stores in the area. Best Buy national support is useless, telling me nothing except "you will receive an email when your store pickup order is ready." Thanks for the helpful info. Can't reach anyone in the actual store without driving there. This is in a major metro area.

Completely disorganized process by Best Buy all around. I was warned against buying from them but got drawn in by the extra trade-in value on my 12 mini and the $100 discount on the phone. However at this point it's not even worth the headache. Cancelling my order and going directly with Apple instead. Will cost a bit more up front but I can walk in and get my phone today and be done with the whole process.

Mines hasn’t arrived and I haven’t received a delayed email either. I’m thinking I missed a delivery date detail when I opted for the pre order

So, I'm not going back to the store today but perusing a few threads, people have successfully gotten BB to activate their T-Mobile sim cards by MANUALLY typing in the SIM number WITHOUT the letters. This seems to be a non-standard workflow which is why a normal, hourly employee at BB has no idea how to deal with this.

I had my TMO 13p activated this way last night with zero issue. The manager on hand was instructing all the reps on how to handle each persons case, which was really reassuring. Been working just fine on my account/number ever since last night - it CAN be done!

Which way? Manually without the letters?

Well I went back this afternoon, the same guy who was trying to help me yesterday was there & this time everything worked no problem. So I guess they fixed whatever the problem was. Anyway, I got my phone.
