Just upset everyones has updated and not mine :(. Maybe its because its being delievered to a different place eg stansted hub or London maybe. Oh well, will just have to wait until the morning. The guy asked the depot and they said that it will be tomorrow, so im counting on his word for it. If not, im kicking up a fuss that ive taken the day off for nothing etc haha.

Can you imagine how much more fustrating this would all be in the olden days without internet and tracking facilities. Can you imagine just patiently waiting for the delivery to arrive

How on earth would we have coped :D

8am on the dot - no UPS update, but its here! Officially a switcher now, I'm off to unbox it, my next post will be on a MBP!!!:D

Arghh.. I've refreshed my apple tracking page almost every half hourly since Monday.. it still stuck at "booking slot obtained". I guess they truck-deliver the consignment from NL to UK instead of flying it over here.. does it take two days for the truck to deliver the consignment from NL? Guess I'll get mine on Monday the earliest ..

I rearranged a delivery for tomorrow between 10-12, since i dont have college untill the afternoon (pushing it though) so im staying at home. She said it shouldnt be a problem but they cant promise it will come in that time.

What spec did you get Aaron? 120GB HDD? If so, what model?

Thanks

Hi Sax, hope they come through for you! Do you have a friend who can hang out at your house & wait for it?

I ordered the stock 2.33 15" model, 2gb w/ 120gb hd. In hindsight I wish I'd gone 160gb but Im getting an external HD anyway, and didn't want it hold things up by customising it.

Its a really sweet machine, but I'm sure you already know that. Very slick. The only flaw/imperfection that I could find, petty as it is, is that the corners of the screen do not sit flush with the case when the screen is down/closed. Not an issue right now, but I hope it doesn't make the lid prone to bending.

Other than that it seems excellent - no dead pixels, speakers seem fine. No whine, so far no excessive heat. The bottom does get quite warm, but I had it on my bed (not the best) and to be honest, compared to a past compaq and my current HP its quite reasonable. You may not want it on your lap, but I dont think there's a danger of frying an egg on it :D

Mine was the same: said that on Thursday and didn't update as "truck arrived at final destination" until the Monday afternoon. When I phoned apple on Monday, they said to expect it on Wednesday, but it got delivered yesterday midday.

I dont think it really takes 2 days to get there, but I think they take a while to get that last update into the web tracker. I'd say by the 2nd day of "booking slot obtained" its probably at flextronics being sorted, there's a decent chance you'll get it delivered the day after "truck delivered" is posted. So its possible it will come tomorrow or friday?

Hi,
I've just bought the mbp 2.16ghz from the Apple store in the Trafford Centre (Manchester).

Seems perfect...

Little problems:
I've tried to wake it up but nothing happen (display black).
A restart was a must.

The trackpad button needs to be pushed a little bit more than the button of my previous ibook. Is it probably just new?!

Hitachi, it uses perpendicular technology, where as Fujitsu is linear. Linear is slightly slower and more prone to errors, but its not a big difference, so nothing to worry about. It seems its more of luck if you have it, no one has worked out a pattern.

Apple tracking page is down now with the following message. I guess to many hits and they couldn't cope out :)

Apple's Online and phone Order Status services are temporarily unavailable due to a scheduled upgrade to our systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Same as you mate but ordered a case and applecare with it

I got a mighty mouse with it, and the applecare too - decent deal, only paid £60 for it :D :D
If I bought it from a store, I could qualify to get the VAT refunded (cos im going back to Aus soon) - thats not possible for mail-order, but to make the sale the phone guy cut a deal on the APP to make it cheaper overall. I learned an important lesson from this - although the retail store guys won't give you any slack, the phone sales team have got a lot of scope to bargain with - if you call up and push em, they can do some decent deals on hardware.

Still can't decide on a case though. I think I'll just buy the "incase" rubber protection thing, and perhaps some kind of trendy bag to carry it in, rather than a proper laptop bag.

Haha Cheers. Yes as you can tell im very impatient haha. Deliveries are one of my pet hates and cant stand them.

All in all, its taken 6 days to get here, which I suppose isnt to bad. However, if Apple had some sort of fast ship or something where you pay, I would have paid an extra £15 no probs for fast delivery.

My 2.16 base unit (no changes) and with a Matte screen came at 11am this morning.

6 days wait...thats not so bad. although my wait was probably only 12 days, but that includes 4 weekend days, so now that I think about it, I wasn't waiting that long either. wow...those 8 business days seemed like an eternity!!!

Its actually quite good, I guess I'm just too impatient

But given the option to pay more for faster shipping, I'd have done it - I think in some places you can, but here in the UK I wasn't even given the choice.

I don't know where mine is :(

It left the EDC on Monday, but I haven't heard any updates since. If there are no updates to my order (ie, decent UPS tracking info) when the store comes back online I'm going to be well annoyed.

:p
