I’ll be keeping my iPhone 11. Not sure if that’s in the spirit of the thread, since I technically upgraded this year (~February) as part of a t-Mobile promotion. Happy enough with the phone.

I have a XSmax. Battery health 88% (feels worse). Connectivity is poor (unless coincidentally WiFi is bad every single place I go). Seriously the worst iPhone on WiFi I’ve ever had. Sometimes it is janky on LTE. I will almost certainly get a new one for better connectivity.

I definitely noticed that as well on my XS Max. That’s why I’m hoping the Qualcomm modem come back to Apple and this year’s iPhones are able to handle connectivity better.

My XS was garbage also. Horrible cellular connectivity. Fortunately, I have ZERO issues with my 11 Pro - much better cellular and WiFi performance all around. Skipping this year's upgrade for that reason!

I got the iPhone 11 Pro. I intend to keep it at least one more year, maybe two. I expressly wanted to avoid the iP12 to avoid getting the first version of 5G.

Will be sticking with my 11 pro 256gb. Battery is still 100% after 11 months and phone is in new condition.

The only reason I won't be upgrading this year is that I just got the 11 Pro last year. It's a little too soon, although I wish I was in the market for an upgrade since I just got a little chip on my screen a week ago...

I literally bought an iPhone 11 so I wouldn't have to upgrade. The XS was trash. FaceId and connectivity were so terrible it almost made the phone unusable. The front glass shattered multiple times in situations where my iPhone 7 never had a scratch. iPhone 7 was superior to the XS in every aspect except for the internal processor. My iphone 11 (knock on wood) is much more durable, haven't had a single issue with FaceID. The durability of the 11 series is what should make it viable for years. The battery life is a few hours shorter than now than when I bought it, but hopefully the battery won't degrade so much that it's unusable.

I’ve been rocking the iPhone6 since launch day. The battery was replaced five years ago and it still looks great because it’s in a case. I cannot believe I paid $299 for it new and the current offerings are pushing $1K. If work gets back on track, I may get the iPhone12.

iPhone X, zero plans to upgrade anytime remotely soon unless something catastrophically failed with my phone that I cant fix. Don't care what it looks like, only reason I even have an iPhone is because I like my Apple Watch and Macs, the iPhone just happens to be the matching device that communicates with them.

Apple has not done anything for the iPhone with regard to features that makes me care, in fact they've only removed things. iOS is trash from my point of view, I just don't have any other options right now.

I’ve been waiting for the real compact size iPhone return since the introduction of iPhone 6. The 5.4” will be launch day buy and I’ll shut up for the next 3-4 years.

What device do you have, and why are you not planning on upgrading?

I am thinking of buying an SE 2020 and just sticking with that for at least a year or so.. cheap, affordable and does the job.
I got the X 3 years ago after upgrading every year or every other year before that. X, 7 Plus, 6S Plus, 6 Plus, 5, 4, 3G, OG.

This year it will likely be the 12 Pro Max in the new Blue if that comes out. 3 years have been a long time but there just wasn't enough about the 11s last year to upgrade.

It depends on what Apple can provide and what difference it could make, Eg, 120 Hz display, better night shots, affordable pricing, would a definitive go.
As an apple enthusiastic and active ios developer I could go for a newer model, but owning the latest and costly model of iPhone is more of a show factor for me.

I agree, there really isn't much to the new series of iPhones. My iPhone Xs has the faster processor. If they, apple decide to do a new iPhone with 4 cameras containing Lidar then there is not much on the market to take advantage of the tech. The software for iPhone is becoming antiquated and is not evolving with the product. Case in Point: why can't we have Siri query you at the end of the day or week, if so desired, to review images on iPhone. Why not better develop the contacts to include communications with people? "Hey Where is that info Bob sent me? Was it a text or an email?" Contacts could help. I don't know... is it just me or does anyone feel like Apple is falling behind the 8Ball on developing? I would have thought the glasses by now, with pencils for iPhone, with better integration. Instead I'm drooling at the functionality of the MS Duo! Can't help it... (I'm probably one of the OG's here with my first Apple being a Mac 128K!!! )
Anyways I digress. Yes the se2020 is perfect size, perfect phone simple, effective and to the point. Why waste all the money if it's only obsolete when it comes out!

I still have the iPhone X. I finally completely own my first iPhone free and clear of the ATT Next Plan. As far as upgrading, Im going to need Apple to innovate more with the design before I buy another phone that looks the same as the last 2 or 3 models. They got us on that years back with the 6-8 models and even the XR looked similar to the 8 etc. The X,XS, 11, 11 Pro all look similar. I know the insides are more powerful every time but my X is still holding me down. I WANT A NEW LOOKING DEVICE IN 2020-2021! When they change up the body style again, we can talk until then...peace!

Being a cheap bastard, I just took advantage AT&T IPhone 11 Pro Max $1k off promotion. I tend stay at least year behind in most consumer tech. It has matured to the point that few compelling year to year changes, and for the deals.

I love my iPhone pro max... it might be the first phone I truly love and all because of the hunter green... I know... so superficial but the previous color options were so eh.

that said, the navy blue in matte with some sort of big enough upgrade might make me change my mind..

Keeping my XS since it does everything just perfect and I don't see anything in the specs that convinces me of the new lineups so far.

iPhone 6s here. Battery should be replaced (84%), and it helps me to be patient once in a while.
But I kinda like to see how long it will last, and the feeling of not giving in to consumerism is a reward in itself.

Got an iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB and I am very happy with it, battery life is incredible and camera really versatile so I see no reason to upgrade, not for at least another 12-18months.

I’m most looking forward to the 3nm based smartphones.

I also recently got a 2020 iPad Pro 11”, so I am just going to sit back and enjoy my current devices.

Same here, just not the Max, regular 11 Pro. Aside from my usual 3 year cadence, I'd only splurge on the 12 if the notch was to disappear and the screen featured 120Hz refresh. Everyone says how you "get used to the notch" but I still hate that thing with a grudge, and I've had plenty of time to get used to it since last December.

Why would anyone "love" a company? If they make a good product you like, get it.

I could see the love when Steve was alive; nowadays, it totally escapes me why would anyone "love" Tim's Apple, even to the point of attacking other users for expressing their valid negative experience.

I bought a 512GB 11 Pro Max last year, so I'm not upgrading for a few years. I can't afford £1500 for a new phone every year. Plus I'm upgrading my iMac this year, so that's the priority for me.
