A used iPhone 14 Pro, or even iPhone 13 Pro is way cheaper than this one. It isn't like A18 is significantly faster than Apple A16. An iPhone 14 Pro offers better screen, better camera and overall better value than this thing.

iPhone 16E is when Apple becomes greedy and it is end of line for iPhone SE. Good luck if you want new affordable iPhone.
And a used iPhone 16e in a few months will be even cheaper. So what's your point? But since you bring up used: The kids around here have been avoiding the SE 3 like the plague, and have been getting used non-Pros instead. They don't want to pay the full price of a non-Pro, but want that screen size.

The 16e fits that bill, without having to resort to the used market.

It's really embarrassing. Use of USB-C and support USB2 speeds mean that they intentionally hate users, there is no other explanation. Price difference is in pennies (to support at least 3.1 speeds). There is no upgrades in this phone and no reason anybody to buy it (unless via hugely discounted carrier package prices).

Don't worry. For all those complaining about the lack of Magsafe I'm sure the EU Overlords will step in to insist (fine) Apple puts Magsafe in all their products  🎻

Why are you asking a person with a different opinion to leave? I’m having a different opinion with you too. I’m not telling you to leave, that’s rude and disrespectful.
He said he was sick of the way Apple does business. Why stay with & continue to purchase products from a business you clealy don't like?

Both the 13 and 14 pros are great phones.

Again, I think the whole issue is having to stick the A18 in it (for iOS support long term). All this new Apple AI stuff requires lots of RAM and the new A18 has 8gb, like the M chips as well. That's clearly going to be the floor going forward now. So, while you can go with the those older phones used, they probably won't be supported for as long as this one will.

OS version support is mostly dependent upon year of release, regardless of the specs. If you mean feature support within the OS, then I would agree with you though.

Price as expected? No one expected $599 starting, $499 was where the consensus on price was which was already $70 more than the outgoing model.
well, I did expect this. Lots of people have their blinders on…
You get double RAM, 128GB, A18 a 5G modem and so on… but, whatever

So is iPhone 14 Pro, will be even cheaper. iPhone 16E is terrible value and it should be priced same as old iPhone SE.

This seems like a really good deal for the majority of customers.
I see you're getting negative reactions, but honestly for most people, rather than 800 usd for a 16 they'll just save 200 and get this instead. Not a ton of differences between the two. So, while we focus on this being the new SE and see a 150 increase, pretty sure your take will turn out to be right, and this is just the new 16 for most will buy. Think of buying this for kids and what not.

Remember yesterday when we were all like "new member of the family! It can't just be a new low end iPhone ... maybe it's the Apple AI robot!??"

lmao 😂

I feel like a fool for even entertaining the idea of anything but "incoming disappointment"

The 14 Pro has long since been discontinued. Like I said, for someone who doesn't want used, but wants a decent sized screen for cheaper than the 16, the 16e is a good option.

200 dollars less, and it's still a new iphone with a very nice screen.

Apple today introduced the iPhone 16e, its newest entry-level smartphone. The device succeeds the third-generation iPhone SE, which has now

In the U.S., the iPhone 16e lacks a physical SIM card slot, but it is still present in other countries.

Okay 1st OFF “16E” WTF
Were they thinking with that name
Shoulda been the SE 4
Or they shoulda found a new name
altogether
Maybe iPhone RE
For Refresh or something
C’mon Apple… big F….

2nd WTF with the SIM Option???!!
If other countries can have a
Dual SIM ( Physical + eSIM )
Why the hell can we in the U.S.
Not. That’s such BS
and I bet trying trying to
Import a foreign Physical SIM
Compatible model will be a nightmare if at all possible

What does the "e" even mean?
It means ‘lite’ as in lower price/less features. Siri is Sir-e on this phone and has removed many of the advanced features, functionality and market leading AI capabilities we’ve come to expect from Apple’s beloved digital assistant. Go Tim, go!

I was thinking about upgrading my 14 Pro to enjoy the latest chip and USB-C. But seeing the price tag, it's probably better to wait for the iPhone 17...?
I'm on a 2020 iPhone SE (purchased mid-2021) and was also eyeing today's release with anticipation. I was willing to take a chance on the non-Qualcomm modem, I'll likewise wait til the 17 releases before doing anything.
