They called me 2 or 3 days after my BGC said complete.

----------

I think I put customer service, at home advisor, technology, call center. I had some gaps too but that didn't affect it. I applied probably 5 times before I got a call. Just keep applying to different cities. I think a cover letter helps too.

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. I will apply to a few more.

Oh wow. That is a seriously long time :/ I'm very nervous about my background check because it's taking so long, and this does not give me hope that they will be alleviating the stress any time soon. Do you have any potential background issues? Misdemeanor, felony, potentially incorrect job history? Also, was it completed on the 30th or did you fill out the paperwork on the 30th? Just confirming, that's a long time to wait with no news.

Nope. All perfect... :/

Does it matter the date the job was posted? I'm seeing a ton of openings for jobs that were posted in September and December

my BGC was completed on Friday, still waiting on the next step.

I wonder if folks with BGCs completed on Friday are part of a round of acceptances/rejections for the training class filling on June 8th. If so, I'm sure word will come out soon.

I have applied to some regardless of the date, I believe that should be okay. I try to apply to the ones that are closer to the current date just in case.

----------

I just realized that I cannot pm until I have at least 5 posts. I suppose I will ask the question here then.

----------

Do they send out a rejection email even if they decide not to give you the first call? It's been a month since I applied for the college position and I've heard absolutely nothing.

I don't think you get a rejection letter. you will just get no contact. I only say that because I was contacted with a request for more information and after I input more information I never heard from anyone again. I am still trying.

Does having a referral or someone recommend you better anyone's chances of a call?

----------

Is anyone doing part time or mostly everyone doing full time, I am just wondering how flexible are they or if they only have full time chat?

Thanks for asking! My background check took a few days to complete. I received the HireRight email 2 days after I was given a verbal offer (pending bgc) by phone. I filled it out the same day. HireRight completed the background check within 48 hours. I called HireRight a few days after submitting it and they said that they sent the info to Apple. Then it took 10 days for Apple to contact me saying my paperwork was on the way and that I had passed and was offered a job.

Also I found out during the paperwork call that I had been moved from graveyard shift chat training to day shift chat training. I followed up with the recruiter to make sure that was correct and yes, I am in the day shift training class starting 6/1.

----------

I would suggest calling HireRight to check on the status. You might find out where the snag is and help nag the right people to respond! Or it might be complete and just waiting on Apple to do something with it.

How soon after you got the call confirming background check was passed did you get the email to set up the phone paperwork part? I got a call Friday saying I passed background and to expect an email this week to set up the phone paperwork. I'm in the graveyard chat June 8th class.

I have a referral and received an acknowledgement of the referal from apple but still haven't heard anything. It's been almost a month.

I have a question for anyone who has started training or is working already..

My class starts June 1st and my cousin is graduating college two days before. I was looking into flying home for 4 days or so right before my training starts.

How far in advance before training do they typically send you the equipment? In the paperwork session it sounded like they said you schedule a day and time for delivery .. Is that true? I don't want this to be a problem plus I'm on the fence about even going home.. I'll email my recruiter if need be, just looking for a ballpark if anyone would be so kind as to share :)

Thanks in advance

Does anyone know if the length of the cover letter might help/hinder chances of getting a call back? I'm in the process of revamping it (as well as my resume) and applying to yet another AHA AppleCare that recently opened up (16th or 17th in the past week). Still haven't gotten a call from any positions though...

A cover letter should not be a long missive. 3 paragraphs tops. First paragraph introduces yourself and mentions how you found the job. It should immediately go into your relevant job experiences that lead you to AHA ( for example, I worked at a call center/I taught a class/ I studied computer science/ I fix computers... etc.) The second paragraphs should talk about your strengths and why you are a strong candidate for the position. The last paragraph should sum up why you are great for the AHA position. It could mention best way for contact before thanking the recruiter for considering your application.

Of course, there are some decent sites out there on creating a cover letter but this should be good for starters. Remember, you want to be concise. Recruiters go through TONS of applications. They don't have time to read cover letters that rival the length of War and Peace. If you do, you run the risk of getting passed over quickly as the recruiter moves on to the next application.

I got the email the same day. You should call them because I think the paperwork has to be back by May 26 or so for the June 8 class.

Just had my first phone interview

Crazy excited to have gotten my first phone interview yesterday. It was so casual that I thought it was a call to set up the first interview and didn't realize that it was an interview at all until I hung up the phone.

I was given a second interview time for this coming Monday to be done via FaceTime. I'm a little nervous... I've searched out some questions on these threads to prepare myself for scenarios and other questions that will be asked. It's a relief to hear that it should be a fairly easy interview... but I'm still nervous.

I submitted my first application for the AHA two years ago. A year went by and I heard nothing. I finally asked someone what I could do to get noticed and was told to apply to as many AHA positions as possible, regardless of what state they were posted for. So I did... and two weeks later (or three?) I got the call.

I do have some questions:

1. What model of iMacs are they providing for AHA employees?

2. My start date will be in July - if I get hired. Does this mean I will have training before July or that my training will start in July, also?

3. I would really like to test my FaceTime before the Monday morning interview. I know they used to have a 888-FaceTime phone number... I don't have anyone in my contacts list to try it with otherwise.

4. I filled out an application for both phone AHA and chat AHA. Due to my disability - hard of hearing, would it be appropriate to ask the interviewer if I would be better suited for the Chat position, or should I go with the position that they called me on? I don't want to risk losing the job because of something dumb I said... :)

Super excited!

Also, could anyone tell me what the employee discount is? I've heard some varied answers and I would like to hear it from someone actually working in this position.
