Hey guys, I’ve been looking through this thread for about a year and some change.
I had applied a really long time ago to the (AHA position) and haven’t heard from them, so I applied again recently and got a call from an apple recruiter the very next day. I went through the first interview and he said that he would like to move on to the next stage which is the Skype interview and sent me two follow up emails which were one with the interview information, and a second one telling me to complete an official apple application.

The person on the phone explained to me that if I got excepted I would be able to start in July and told me it was full-time and also told me the pay amount( Which I’m pretty surprised of the number he told me). He also mentioned a word which I can’t remember of the top of my head right now, but I can’t remember what it was. Pretty much it meant that while working for them as an (AHA) I wouldn’t be able to do other technical jobs or even volunteer for technical jobs while I’m working under apple (From what I understood). I’m very excited and can’t wait for the Skype interview. But I do have a few questions of my own.

Here are my questions and hope someone can shed some light. These questions are toward the none college home advisor program

1. Is it true that we can’t do side technical jobs outside the apple working hours???

2. Do we have to pay for a phone land line or is the internet the only thing? (I been looking all over the place for this answer and everywhere seems to only mention we need internet)

3. Is the training portion paid? If so how much? ( I ask because he did mention the training was full time for many weeks)

4. Do we get any certifications from apple for the training?

5. The start date he gave me was July, now my question is, is that when training starts or when you actually start to work??

Thanks, any answer is appreciated

Hi there!
Congrats on getting to the 2nd interview. I can't answer all your questions, but here are a few answers:

2) No, a landline phone is not required, but your Mac has to be hardwired to your modem. No wifi.

3 & 5) Training is paid and start date is first day of training.

Good luck on next steps!

I've had my third interview for the chat team and am waiting to hear. The only thing that I'd like to hear more about are the hours. I understand working holidays and mandatory OT, no problem. I'm used to 50-hour weeks. I was also told the shift assignments change every 6 months.

The first recruiter said it's a day position, and 4:30 AM CST to 10:30 PM CST. Those are the day hours in the chat job description. The way it's stated sounds like the latest your shift would end would be 10:30 PM CST.

Second interviewer said the hours are 7:00 AM CST to 11:00 PM CST. Those are the hours I believe for the phone teams, not chat.

Third interviewer, the hiring manager, said the same hours as the first guy, but also said that shifts can start in that range, meaning a shift could start at 10:30 PM.

I'm good with the wide range in day shift hours but do they really ask day shift folks to start at 10:30 PM? What really happens in the shift bidding process?

Thanks for info!

EDIT: Glassdoor has a whole section on AHA interviews, many with questions asked. Worth reading to prep.

Bidding is done by performance. A certain percentage is guaranteed the shift they want then shifts start getting handed out in order of ranking in your particular job function. There isn't a lot of mandatory OT per say but if you want to work it then it's there. iOS is open from 7am CST until 1030pm CST

There is no graveyard shift for iOS. It closes at 10:30PM CST. There is however an overnight shift for live chat, but you'll more than likely be doing iOS support.

i will be training for the iOS graveyard chat position and was told this operates 24/7.

Thanks minnie, that's more in line with what the manager told me that chat, regardless of product, is 24/7.

Did you ask for graveyard shift? Did they tell you in the offer that you'd be supporting iOS?

I applied for graveyard position and asked in the final interview what I will be supporting and he said iOS.

I'm joining the boards after lurking for awhile on here and first I want to say thank you to everyone who provides any information here. I can't imagine going through this process without all of this knowledge. I may or may not have read every single page...

I do have one question. Has anyone ever had the situation of where they have vacations already paid for coming up? I have two right now and it is the only reason I'm hesitant to really start actively applying. Thoughts? Thanks!

they did ask me in the initial interview if i was moving soon or had any vacations planned, i told them no since i dont. i think they might be looking for individuals that are free for training since it is about 4 weeks.

does anyone know the pay schedule? I know it's every other week but like which week? lol .. I'm trying to figure out if I need to take some extra hours during my last week at my current job in order to make sure I can get by..

Video interview Tuesday

Hi - I have a hirevue video interview this tuesday, just a ?
can I set up the interview "space" ahead of time or do they want you to set it up just before the interview (email says set up 5 minutes ahead of interview time)

also, Is any negotiation on your hourly rate possible? (I am assuming no)

Thanks - this thread has been amazingly helpful to read through :)

Does everyone who's been hired have call center experience? And who still hasn't received any contact? It's been a month for me since first applying. Anyone have contact made after a month?

I worked one holiday season for Amazon and that is the extent of my call center experience. I have more experience in other areas, namely HR which is my customer service experience. I applied for the AHA job back in Oct and wasn't contacted until very late March of this year. I applied previously for the same position about a year before and also had a friend refer my resume sometime between the two. I had written Apple off, assumed I wasn't going to be contacted at all. When I did get the call, I was shocked! And stoked!

Yes you should set it all up ahead of time. Be sure to read the instructions on the Hirevue site. Once you've set it up, you can go back there using the same email link. Just don't click the Enter Lobby Now button until 5 minutes before your interview.

Many of the Glassdoor comments state there's no pay negotiation.

Good luck with the interview. Empathy and enthusiasm!

That is really helpful Thanks semiquaver

I might be freaking myself out unnecessarily, but on the job postings for AppleCare Chat Team I've only seen one say "Weekly hours: 40:00". Anyone know if this means the ones without that are only part time? Help!

Don't worry. I saw that too but the initial call I got last week said that chat was exploding and the positions are full-time. Be sure to ask though when you get that first call.

That's what I was thinking too with 40+ listings for chat but I got worried. Thank you for clearing that up! I'll make sure to double check when (not if!) I get my call. Good luck to you. :)
