You made me curious enough to count. There are 49 chat team positions posted since April 15th. That seems like a huge ramp up even though chat's been around for a while.

I hadn't seen how many listings there were previously, but I didn't think it was that high of a number and I was genuinely surprised. I wonder if the volume is getting higher or if they are in need of more for a new reason? Can't believe how many there are though!

Second Interview

I'm not sure if it's because of how much I want this position or what it is, but this has to be the most stressful interviewing process ever! WOW!!

That being said, I just got done with my second interview - the first one lasting for about 10 minutes, this one 20 minutes, and I understand the next one will be for about an hour through Hirevue.

My interviewer let me know immediately that she is moving me on to the next interviewer with Hirevue and it should take place some time this week or next, and to watch for the email.

Empathy. Empathy, empathy - I think this is where it's at. I think even if you answer all the tech questions correct, without empathy you're not going to make it to the next round.

That's all... any suggestions for the final interview? Another week of biting my nails!! At least I have 10!

Hi there!
Congrats on getting to the 2nd interview. I can't answer all your questions, but here are a few answers:

2) No, a landline phone is not required, but your Mac has to be hardwired to your modem. No wifi.

3 & 5) Training is paid and start date is first day of training.

Good luck on next steps!
Kerry

Hey Thanks for the quick response and for answering my questions really appreciate it.

*UPDATE*

So I had my 2nd interview earlier today in the morning through Skype. It went very well and the lady was very pleasant and nice and seemed to be very interested in me. The Skype interview lasted for about 25 minutes. She went over the job; Asked a couple of questions in regards to my resume, Role played like 3 different scenarios and asked me like 3 technical questions. Everything went well but I feel a little discouraged because at the end of the interview she didn’t move me on to interview 3 (As I noticed from reading through this thread that people got moved to the 3rd interview immediately). Instead she just told me that I did a good job and will be getting an email from someone no more than 2 days.
Can’t wait for these two days to go by, So nervous. . .
:(

It's very possible that the interviewer just hadn't made a decision yet and is reviewing the interview. I think I recall reading other candidates' posting that they didn't have a go-ahead to the next round until they received the email. My stomach is still a mess of butterflies for the third interview... "BUT IT'S APPLE!"

I finally received a call back and unfortunately I missed the call, but the recruiter did leave a call back number. The position is for a chat agent, and I am very nervous. What will they most likely ask me on the 1st interview? The recruiter said it would only be about 10 min. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Congrats! First of all, relax about the first call. The recruiter is just going to give you some basic info about the job to make sure you understand and confirm what you applied for. They might ask about your shift availability. They might ask a question about your experience. It's a pretty basic application screening call to determine if they should set you up the second recruiter call.

Ok thank you! I'm mostly panicking because I missed the call. I did call him back at the number he provided and left a voicemail, he also emailed me and I did reply to that as well.

Well.. Heres an update. I didnt land the job at Apple for the advisor position (go back like 2 pages to hear my story). I really think my Apple interviewer was having a bad day when I did my interview through Apple, I am soooo good at customer service and tech support thanks to Best Buy. Xerox is hiring at home advisors for Apple (just started I was told). The pay is $13 and it is full time. I landed the job so easily in one interview when there are supposed to be 2-3. I was told I will be getting paperwork and receiving an iMac to work on. Oh well, at least its a foot in the door.. ;) yay

Apple is a lot of wonderful things, but they are not particularly flexible with scheduling. Part-timers are usually expected to work full-time in busy seasons, but go back down to part-time most of the year. They are also required to have open availability. You will, however, get your schedule much further in advance than many retail companies, so it might work for you? An ex-coworker of mine gets hers 3 months ahead of time, which leaves plenty of time to plan appointments and so on.

Just curious whether they allow you to swap shifts with your coworkers or get someone to pick up your shift if you ever need to do so. Is that something that's allowed?

Yay about the other one at least! And the pay is pretty good as well. :) I saw this listing and thought about it but I want chat and I only saw phone positions.

Wow so I just got the first interview out of the way, I was indeed nervous but fortunately I made it onto the next interview with Hirevui. I'm pretty nervous, it's gonna be live and I'll have to do some typing and answer some tech support questions. But that's OK, it is for the chat position. :)

I'm drenched in cold sweat lol

So I just finished my first Skype interview (second interview since the call back last Thursday) and it went VERY well. I stuttered through one or two questions trying to find the correct words but I think I got my point across. The interviewer was sooooo nice! She definitely made me feel less nervous after a few minutes of speaking to her.

A few questions she asked me:
1. Why Apple? Why this particular position?
2. What was the most challenging aspect working at your previous jobs?
3. What do you like most about customer service?
4. What's more important: fixing a customer's issue or providing a good customer experience?
5. How would you provide a good customer experience?

(Most of these questions can be found on Glassdoor, which is why I anticipated pretty much all of these and was able to answer fairly easily without stalling/hesitating)

Technical question: A person's having issues with email. What are three questions you'd ask to solve their issue?

1. What kind of device are they using? (e.g. phone, tablet, computer, etc.)
2. What kind of email/protocol are they using? (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo, POP, IMAP, etc.)
3. What specific issues are they having? (e.g. can't send email, can't receive email, both, no access, etc.)

Roleplay scenario: I purchased Bluetooth headphones for my daughter's birthday and I don't know how to set them up with my iPhone. I don't know anything about setting up Bluetooth so can you help me?

Warmly greet and ask how they're doing; acknowledge customer's daughter's birthday, gently guide customer through steps on turning on Bluetooth on iPhone (Settings > Bluetooth > make sure green light is on); making sure Bluetooth is turned on headphones; check for devices being "paired" on iPhone and then testing them with the playing music.

(She said she'd tell me when to stop but it seems like we did the entire scenario and that was enough for her. She said we were going to do "a few" but we ended up doing one and she immediately moved me to the third interview so I guess that was awesome :D)

Now I'm waiting for the confirmation email to set up the third interview!

----------

Oh, is anyone scheduled for a July class? If so, when is it? I was told 8 weeks but I've been hearing different numbers (like 6 weeks). The recruiter I talked to didn't know when the class would be starting exactly and I have a convention to attend in late August so she doesn't know if that'll affect my potential placement.

Oh I see. The position I applied to is phone.

I applied for the phone position too. I'm still waiting for my confirmation email for the final round of interviewing, and in the meantime spending a lot of time in my customer service training manual from my current position, going over the empathy section like crazy.

Waiting for that email is kind of making me nervous... hoping they don't accidentally hit the reject button when they meant to hit the "next round" button!

I'll be starting in the July class and definitely heard 8 weeks when I asked about training length.
