Question

So I have a question...I just got a ticket for license/registration on my car. Will this affect my chances of getting hired if I make it to the BGC?

I literally had just received a ticket for not having my license on me. It was the only violation that showed up on the BGC and I still got hired, so you'll be fine. :)

I completed all my interviews and BGC successfully. I heard nothing for a few weeks so sent an email to my recruiter asking for an update. On Friday A few hours later i got a phone call from a recruit organizer saying my internet speeds were a little on the low side and giving me until this monday to try to have my speeds improved with my provider.

I was really surprised by this as my download speed is well in excess of the minimum and my upload speed was just above the minimum set out by apple.

I asked about this and she said that apple are upgrading their systems and now require approx 5mb download and over 1 mb upload.

I really am so confused after coming so far to be told this now out of the blue. In my last two interviews they confirmed the minimum speeds with me as 2mb down and .5mb up which I exceed. I even checked new jobs just listed in my area in the last few days and they all state the requirement is still for 2mb down and .5mb up

I really want this job and am really nervous i might lose it now when this recruit organizer calls me again on Monday. It really seems so unfair.

This requirement has changed recently, I suspect in the last few weeks or so in preparation for changes to the program. I was told that this change is because we will no longer need a landline phone, so I suspect we will be tied into some VOIP system for fielding calls. I thought the requirements were higher than 2/0.5, but admittedly I didn't pay attention because I have 50/10.

My official paperwork does say that the requirement is 5 down and 1 up, hardwired ethernet NO WIRELESS, and there is no mention of a landline phone. The same paperwork mentions 23$ in reimbursement per pay period for internet. If you have cable, you can call and upgrade your internet, have new speeds in minutes, and let your recruiter know that you have upgraded. They can retest if need be and if you don't get the job you can call and downgrade your service, and only pay the difference for the days you had it.

Really you probably just have to agree to upgrade when you get the job, I'm surprised you haven't already offered. If you lose the job over internet it will most likely be because you didn't come across as willing to upgrade. Whenever a curveball is thrown at you during interview, always say you can make it happen because it could be legit or a test of your desire to go above and beyond to secure the job.

Thanks for the responses guys. I did tell them I would investigate trying to improve my internet, unfortunately I don't have an option for cable.

I'll let you know how it goes anyway, I was just so surprised as even at my final interview the requirements were discussed and I gave my internet stats which met the requirments and it wasn't an issue. I have the checklist which they sent to me at the start of the process and it clearly states 2mbps down and .5mbps up.

Anyway, cross your fingers for me guys!!

Has anyone NEVER heard back from Apple after their third interview? I've been following this thread since the beginning of my interview process with Apple (two months ago today). I completed all my interviews in the month of April only to hear dead silence. I followed up close to two weeks later and received a response from the person I thought was my recruiter - basically I was told they would look into it. Another week went by with no contact so I followed up again. This time there was no answer for a few days until I received a call from another person who apparently WAS my recruiter. They apologized for the delayed response but didn't have much they could tell me for whatever reason. The phone call was short but from what I comprehended, Apple was still deciding on who they wanted to hire and it could be weeks before I received a response (I asked for an approximate timeline but wasn't given one). In other words, I wasn't declined for the position but there was no telling if I would be hired and when. It was nice to hear from someone after waiting weeks with silence, but I was left with even more questions. Like all of you, I really want this position, but I can't wait forever.

Anyway, I've continued to look for other employment (I never stopped, even when Apple first contacted me). I have an interview later this week that I'll probably accept if I'm offered the job, but I'm still hoping I'll get an email with at least a "no thanks" so I don't have to wonder. Everyone who has posted was either moved through the process quickly or sent a rejection email shortly after they interviewed. I haven't read any posts on this entire thread that have a similar experience as mine. I had to come out of lurk mode to post this cause the curiosity is intense! LOL. If anyone in lurk mode has had a similar experience please post here or PM me at least. Thanks!

I have a question do I need to already have a computer at home to get the job? I have high speed Internet that we use our iPhones and tablet on currently, just haven't gotten a new computer after my last one died.

Anyone consider doing the call center thing instead of the AHA program (or is there a separate thread for that)?

You don't need a computer in order for them to hire you. But you do need your own private internet connection (no public wifi) that meets their minimum upload/download requirements. They will tell you what those requirements are when they contact you. Initially they will reach out via phone and email if they want to interview you. You may be asked to conduct a Facetime interview (iOS devices), a webcam (computer) interview, or simply a phone interview. I think the method they choose depends on the position you've applied for. For example if you applied for a chat position, they will most likely want to speak to you via webcam because they will want to include a chat roleplay assignment with you instead of just a verbal roleplay. So you'll need at least a netbook or laptop for that. Otherwise it seems like facetime interviews for the phone positions are the norm.

If you're hired, Apple will send you all the equipment you need. However, it's advised that you do not use your work computer for personal usage. So if you ever need access to a computer, your Apple issued Mac is off limits. I hope this helps answer your question.

There is a substantial amount of back and forth email contact, digital signing of forms, an online survey and the like throughout the hiring process. You need to be able to complete those tasks in some way. You will be sent a work computer if hired but you MUST have a dedicated WIRED high speed internet connection of your own and a feature free phone line...it can be a landline, cable phone or VOIP that connects through the modem and NOT directly into the computer. It must NOT have call waiting, voicemail or any features.

I start training on the 16th and should be receiving my computer and iPod Touch by Wednesday. :)

Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while and just had a question. I applied about 4 weeks ago now, and haven't heard a thing? Does it usually take a while to hear anything? Kind of just gave up its been so long.

Thanks.

Best of luck Smlittle and well done! you must be thrilled :D

Thanks...and I am thrilled! I would have preferred to be hired directly by Apple instead of KellyConnect, because I would rather have the Apple benefits, but the full time Kelly benefits aren't awful where the perks are concerned. I'll still get up to 17% off Apple products, you can win Apple products in contests too. In addition to that Kelly is a member of Perkspot and there are a ton of discounts on all kinds of things. One example is the dinner and a movie perk from a theater under 10 minutes from where we live. For $21 I can buy that perk which includes two tickets to a movie AND a $25 restaurant.com gift card! That usually costs $44 to buy and I can get it for $21. There are discounts for tickets to all theme parks you can think of, too. I haven't looked up insurance and such as of yet, though, but the perks are nice through Kelly. Oh...and if you are a top performer you can get an extra 20% bonus based on your entire pay for the week. You can also refer friends to join the program.

Just had my third and final interview last night. I haven't got anything from HireRight, or Apple yet in my e-mail. The lady said that it would be 1-2 weeks before I heard anything, but I've been reading some posts and it seems like a lot of people got emails from HireRight the next day. She told me I did great and not to be nervous about the wait. So I'm not sure if she genuinely felt that way, or they just say that to everyone. Anyone else had to wait a long period, but still got the job offer? Im super nervous now haha

I believe it depends on where you fall in the final round of interviews (when I had my 3rd interview, I was on the first of four days for final candidates).
So I had to wait until they finished the entire round of final candidate interviews.
Good luck!

Thanks.

It was about four and half weeks later when I received a phone call from a recruiter after applying. I had put in multiple applications with Apple prior but only heard back from the very last app I put in. I think most people hear back within two months of applying. Some hear back hours within of applying. I think it depends on whether or not they are actively hiring for the position you applied for.

I must preface this by saying this is pure speculation. It seems to me based on your experience, and assumptions derived from things I have read here and experienced directly, that you are a fringe candidate. You haven't been rejected, but instead they might be keeping you as an option if they get down to it and run out of applicants.

What position did you apply for exactly? Device specific? Chat or Phone? I've noticed a lot of the chat classes starting this month, but I am in a general AppleCare phone position and I don't start till mid July. I was told that this was later than usual because of some delays.

I can't say whether it is good or bad, but in this market if you get another job offer I think you'd better take it, though you could take a risk and use another job offer to force Apple to decide either way. But that is a risk because I'm sure there are several candidates they have on a wait-list like you. I suspect in a job like this they are spoiled for choice so it depends on your position. I was looking for a job that was suited to my career goals, so I personally was not looking for other jobs so if I'd had to wait it would have been fine. However if you need the money, you may not have the luxury of turning down the other job.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I agree with you. I got the feeling that I was probably not their top choice, but they still liked me enough to not give me a no. I don't think I will try to negotiate if I get offered another position. I let my recruiter know that I was actively looking for new employment so they understand. I applied for a chat position and the class was supposed to start at the end of June. I doubt I will make the class at this point. And I do need the money lol! My current employer isn't where it's at :(. I'm curious how many others are on the wait list that I seem to be on. I also considered that maybe they met their quota before I completed my final interview and they're holding on to my info until the next round of hiring starts.
