Ireland - did tech assessment Friday 30th of May - nothing back since then. Should I be worried?

Ireland also. I completed my technical assessment on 2nd May (it closed on 10th) and heard back from them asking about my internet speeds on 13th. After some back and forth I was invited for a Skype interview on 21st May. I was contacted by HireRight to start background checks on 23rd May and after some more contact back and forth between HireRight I got an offer from Apple on 6th June.

That's just my timeline, I wouldn't be too worried about not hearing since 30th, given there was a bank holiday in there!

There are others in the same position who haven't heard back who did the technical assessment around that date from what I've read on boards, so its totally normal. Don't worry, just wait it out. I'm sure you'll hear back soon.

Best of Luck! :D

I am iOS and my training begins on Monday the 16th. I have a day of orientation on Friday. I got my equipment delivered today. I am through KellyConnect. I got an iMac and iPod Touch that are the property of Kelly and the items that I get to keep...the ethernet cord, wired keyboard, mouse, USB headset and Plantronics hands free phone. The iMac is the smaller screen version and the iPod Touch I got is the 16GB less expensive new version without the rear camera. The front camera is very nice but quite useless if you don't take selfies. I'm 48 years old and the last thing I want to see starting back at me are my wrinkles, lol.

----------

Am I the only one that only had one interview?

Nope, I only had one too...but I was hired through Kelly Connect. I think that is normal for anyone hired through them.

I am 99% sure I was interviewed and hired by Apple. The guy that interviewed me and the woman who called to offer me the position both identified themselves as being from Apple and I have never heard of Kelly Connect before.

For those that applied through Kelly Connect, how long did the hiring process take after you initially submitted your application?

Hi!
It took about a month after I applied until I was first contacted.
Best of luck to you :)
Diane

Great, thanks so much for your reply Diane!

----------

It was about four and half weeks later when I received a phone call from a recruiter after applying. I had put in multiple applications with Apple prior but only heard back from the very last app I put in. I think most people hear back within two months of applying. Some hear back hours within of applying. I think it depends on whether or not they are actively hiring for the position you applied for.

Gottcha.. Guess I'll just wait and see what happens. Thanks!

I applied on May 8th but did not complete the assessment.
I got a reminder email and phone call on May 12th asking me to do the assessment. I was babysitting my grandson that week and didn't get a chance to do the assessment until the 18th of May. On May 19th I got an email to schedule a phone interview. The interview was on May 21st. A few hours after the interview I got the congratulatory email telling me I'd get a link to fill out the online application for background check, etc. and I9 papers. I got my computer and iPod Touch and stuff today and start training on Monday. The delay from the 8th to 18th was all me, so Kelly was really fast. I knew I was being hired in less than a week. It took no more than 3 weeks from the time I submitted the assessment survey until the time my work computer and stuff arrived.

Just finished my 2nd interview. It went really well. The lady was the nicest lady I've ever interviewed with in my life. She made it an enjoyable experience and was so friendly to me.

She threw me off on a few questions as they weren't anything I had seen listed before. She wanted me to go into detail on what POP3 & imap are. She also wanted me to go into detail on what RAM is and the differences between RAM and a Hard-Drive are. I don't think I gave her the right answer on the email one but that's my weak point. I honestly don't think she cared because I stressed Customer Service & my love for Apple products.

That's the key here folks. DO NOT be a no it all. DO NOT say you prefer Windows. And DO NOT say anything that will make them think you don't care about the customer.

If you mention you like Apple, you care about customers, and you know how to show empathy, I really don't think much else matters. They will train you.

Anyways, the interview went great. She told me at the end she liked me and was moving me on to the final stage. I figured I would get the "you will get an email" line but I didn't. She said she wanted me to move on ASAP and to have a happy holiday and that was that. 20 min interview.

Final interview is not until January because of the holidays and my first day would be Feb 24th.

I won't say the exact hourly rate but I will say that it's more then $13/hr. The rate combined with it being work from home, them giving you $50 back for net/phone, the benefits, the discount, etc. I think make the compensation very fair.

My interview says it will be for MAPS which I guess is something newer they started. IF anyone works on MAPS project and wants to chime in please do as I wasn't expecting it. Although I did find a job description online and if this is correct it seems like it's more Testing and outbound then consecutive inbound calls so I think I would enjoy it.

Congrats on the job! How has it been working for them since you got the job? I am thinking of applying as I have lots of experience in technical support and customer service. Also what do the others in the forum mean when they say they want to work in the chat section? Is that through the net rather than talking on the phone with people?

Thanks! I had a phone conference call welcome/orientation on Monday and will have an 8 hour training orientation on Friday to get familiar with the equipment and software/programs we will be using. Official training begins on June 16th. I am in Florida. This is a virtual position, though, and I really don't think it matters where you are located as long as you can obtain the high speed internet and phone line required. Of course, if you are college based part time that might be a different story. I believe the training is about 4 weeks.

I was wondering the same thing. I too only had the one interview and was told at the end of it "this is the only interview in our process". I'm not sure why everyone else has 3 interviews. I applied through the main site, and I'm from Colorado State University, perhaps the school is relevant? I also have a high GPA which may have excluded me but I have no idea. No one answered when I asked people their stats so we could try and figure out what causes some to have more interviews, tech tests, etc.

EDIT: Lulu, the job would be fine for a stay at home mom if you don't have kids or pets begging attention all day. I have a few stay at home parents for friends and I don't recommend the job for them because they can't possibly keep their kids quite long enough.

I was trying to apply for the one in australia, but I am based in Toowoomba QLD whereas they are hiring in Sydney? Do you have to live in the same city as where they are advertising since it is a at home job?

I'm from Virginia Tech. Maybe the college student program only has one interview

I think it depends on the age of your kids. I have a 14 year old daughter who does virtual school at home and she's old enough to not interrupt me. Based on what I am hearing there is a high volume of inbound calls and you are expected to be free of distractions to work. If your kids are old enough to watch themselves with you just checking in on them then it would probably be a good fit for you. If you have very young children you'd need someone there to watch them for you.

Not necessarily. I think they just list the main areas. You could always give it a try and see what happens.

That is a good question. I can only speculate, but I would say it depends. One of the "work expectations" in my paperwork is as follows. "I understand that I am expected to perform my work duties from my home office location, but on occasion I may be required to report to an Apple-designated location for training or other business related purpose." As such it is possible they might not consider applications from a different area. Though I imagine it's more likely that they will allow people who are with a reasonable commuting distance, though I have no expectation of ever being called in I understand that they group trainees into regional pods, so it could be simply a part of the psychological trainee engagement.

what was the role play questions?

Mine was a customer calls in and says they dropped their iPad and the screen shattered. They are very upset. This isn't something that is covered by Apple, what would you say?

I had a similar question. I was asked if we could fix the screen but not if it was covered. I focused on being as helpful as I could while also trying to sell her AppleCare protection, lol. Years of being a waitress has caused me to compulsively up-sell, even when it's not my job to do so. It will come in handy in this job. :p

I would like to answer this question for those who are still curious about the interview total difference. If you only needed to complete one interview then it because of one of two reasons 1) You we're hired by Kelly Services/Connect and you have not been directly hired by Apple, but through Kelly. You're an employee of Kelly and an Apple contractor. Kelly offers similar pay, training, and benefits as Apple but there either are or may be slight differences from what I can tell. 2) You were directly hired by Apple but you're a part of Apple's University program. This means you are currently a student at a select University and the details of your employment with Apple are slightly different than if you were hired on regularly. Anyone, conducting three interviews is undergoing a "normal" hire. They have not applied to the Apple University program or a staffing agency like Kelly. This position usually offers more pay, possibly more hours, and a better benefits package. I hope this helps. I've seen this answered a few times, but I see some are still curious.

I can't remember everything that was asked but one was something about describing a time when I helped someone over the phone to resolve a technical issue (or similar) and also to describe a technical issue that I had and the things I did to resolve it. I don't recall the exact wording, though, and am going on what I remember giving as answers. I tried to make my answers relevant to the work, too.
