Everyone who starts training on June 30th, 2014, have you received any recent email communication? I received an email on June 4th that said I would be getting more the next few weeks but I have not received anything. 15 days til training starts so the systems might be coming soon. Who else is with me on June 30th!? Excited!?

I have a question, what happens if I applied for both Kelly and Apple, but get hired by Kelly and then later hired by Apple? Do you think Apple will not give me the job anymore because of Kelly?

Hi, I applied for the AHA with Kelly services on June 3rd. I had my phone interview on June 9th. I completed my Onboarding thing and Background check as well on the June 10th. I got my I-9 email on June 11th and xompleted it. On June 12th I recieved an email from Kelly Services granting me access to their online learning center. That's the last I got. How long do I have to wait before I hear anything? I'm getting a little worried.

For those that are hired by Apple directly, did they email you when they shipped your equipment? I should be getting mine this week for training class next week, but haven't heard anything yet.

Are you in the June 23rd or 25th class?
I was told we would be getting a call later this week to arrange delivery :)

Anyone know what the starting rate is for this position? I can't seem to find any information on this.

Hi, you'll find the answers to all your questions within this thread. Start from the first part: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1120467/ (which starts way back in 2011) and read EACH page. All the questions you could ever think to ask have already been answered and not much has changed. You'll be able to find some details for the pay, but no one will be able to tell you exactly how much they make as that could violate their contract. So please be careful about the type of questions you ask or answers you give as you move through the process. I will say that if you get hired directly by Apple, you'll make a a little more than if you were hired by a temp agency (that's for any job as a temp agency always takes a cut). You'll also be able to find interview questions that are normally asked within this thread. Again, the recruiters mix up the questions they ask, but they can all be found within this thread. Also, a quick Google search will lead you to other forums where people discuss work at home employment (with Apple info too). Goodluck!

The contract specifically states it does not prevent you from discussing your pay. In the United States, you have the right to discuss your pay. There are labor laws that protect you, specifically the National Labor Relations Act.

I'd recommend checking out glassdoor.com if you want info on pay and compensation.

How long after you completed your I-9 forms did you hear something back. I completed all my necessary paperwork on the 12th and I have yet to hear anything back. So I called and they said they were still waiting on my background check to come back which was initiated on the 10th. I'm getting a little worried.

I applied on May 8th but did not complete the assessment.
I got a reminder email and phone call on May 12th asking me to do the assessment. I was babysitting my grandson that week and didn't get a chance to do the assessment until the 18th of May. On May 19th I got an email to schedule a phone interview. The interview was on May 21st. A few hours after the interview I got the congratulatory email telling me I'd get a link to fill out the online application for background check, etc. and I9 papers. I got my computer and iPod Touch and stuff today and start training on Monday. The delay from the 8th to 18th was all me, so Kelly was really fast. I knew I was being hired in less than a week. It took no more than 3 weeks from the time I submitted the assessment survey until the time my work computer and stuff arrived.

Mine was very fast but my recruiter had initiated my background check early on so it came back by the time I finished all the other paperwork. If they had you do the I9 then they are hiring you as long as your background check comes back okay. The next step is orientation and they can't do that prior to the check coming back. You'll be fine.

The above is not accurate at all. Kelly for example is paying about $10 to $11.00 (MAX) per hour and Apple is paying on average for non-student positions $15 to $17+ per hour. So, the temp agency is taking a lot per hour and NOT a little at all. Plus, the temp agency only gives you for the most part crappy benefits and Apple gives you a lot of great benefits.

The difference is like comparing a minivan to a Porsche.

Um you really need to calm down. I was just trying to be helpful by providing general information that the OP requested. I don't see the difference between what I said and what you're trying to say. It's a fact that people hired by Kelly will make less than people hired directly by Apple. It doesn't matter how much less they make. That wasn't the point I was trying to make.

That's great that the contract doesn't state you're not allowed to detail your pay to others. I'm not an employee of Apple and haven't claimed to be. As I've mentioned on previous posts I've made here, I'm going through the interview process like most everyone who posts here. I was telling the OP, that there is a good chance they will not find someone here who will tell them exactly what they were offered by Apple. Most just give general ranges. As for glassdoor.com, that won't tell you exactly how much you'll make. It only provides averages. What they will be offered is dependent on various factors. The point of my post was to encourage the OP to read the thread to find the answers they'll eventually seek, as many people come here and ask the same things over and over. Lets not start jumping down peoples throats. We're all here to help.

Anyway, I'm going back to lurk mode. I was just trying to be helpful, but I see the nitpickers are out in full force.

Ok thanks. I'm just like I know for my current job it only took my background check like 3 days to come back and this just seems extra long. But thank you though. So one more question is your recruiter the one who interviewed you? Or the one who called you to let you know how the process will go once you passed your interview.

I take issue with your last line, have you been in a minivan lately. Those things are like swag mobiles, and I hate to use the word swag. Minivans have a bad reputation but people who own them are likely laughing at the rest of us as they roll down the road in comfort and luxury. The only time they don't laugh is at the gas station :)

That said, the rest of what you said is likely true. It's surprising that Apple does business with an organization like Kelly, and that they pay so much less. It's also interesting to see the differences in pay between student and non-student positions, but at least the student process is easier.

Kelly's pay has a base amount and then multiple bonuses based on performance. The full time workers also get benefits. While I'm sure the benefits and pay directly from Apple are better...it's also far more difficult and drawn out to get hired directly with Apple. Not everyone has the luxury of waiting a year or more to get a job. There are also multiple depts. of AHA positions as well as different levels. Lower level AHA's are not going to get paid as much as the higher level AHAs.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, lol. The process went pretty fast for me and I seemed to deal with a lot of different people. The only time I am sure I dealt with one specific person was with the important paperwork. It was probably the same person but I just wasn't paying much attention to who I was dealing with. I just focused on getting the paperwork done. :p

Just based on the interview process and job description differences it seems that Kelly provides most of the full time Tier 1 AHA's for Apple. On Apple's website the Tier 1 type positions seem to all be part time, or student positions. The full time seem to be Tier 2 through Apple's site and they need a higher technical skill level than the Tier 1 entry level support jobs. OF COURSE the pay range will be significantly different. It seems like the pay rate between the Kelly Tier 1 positions and the part time student positions with Apple are more similar.

Been looking

Hi guys,
I recently applied with Kelly Connect and received an interview time with them for tomorrow. But then I decided to see what Apple also had to offer and went ahead and applied for AHA with them, too.

I went to Apple.com yesterday, filled out the application, got a call 4 hours later, told them I was only interested in full time and they said they would see what they have and call me back...So I figured I would maybe hear back from them next week, about 20 minutes later they call back and said they had a full-time opening!

Now I have an interview with Apple next week and one with Kelly Connect tomorrow, I don't want to burn any bridges, but should I tell Kelly that I also have an interview with Apple for the same position as well?

I wouldn't bring it up until you need to, which probably won't be until you get an offer. When you get an offer from Kelly, then tell them you'd like to wait to see what apple is going to offer you.

It's a fact that people hired by Kelly will make less than people hired directly by Apple. It doesn't matter how much less they make. That wasn't the point I was trying to make.

One, you don't know me at all so do not tell me or anyone you do not personally know to calm down. Because someone correct things that you've said you feel the need to tell them to "calm down"? WTF?

Two, you made a statement about:

"you'll make a a little more than"

Regardless of the "point" you were trying to make you still gave inaccurate information and I schooled you on it. The pay difference between Kelly and Apple is night and day and not "A LITTLE MORE THAN". If you do not want to be called out about inaccurate information then don't make statements about information you're not familiar with.

Why does this even matter to me? Because someone reading your post may believe your BS statement about the pay. They then go get a job with apple through Kelly and end up making $10-$11 an hour instead of $15 to $17 an hour. That could be the difference between someone sinking or surviving financially monthly.

Also, you stated:

"Anyway, I'm going back to lurk mode. I was just trying to be helpful, but I see the nitpickers are out in full force."

So, correcting you on inaccurate information is a nitpicker? That's funny!

Joey
