did they mention hours and pay?
They told me full time, and pay depends on where you live. I am on the border of WA/ID... I am in ID and have a friend who is going through training across the border (literally ten mins away) and she will be making $2.00 more per hour. She said that they talked about it in training and if you move to an area with higher pay you will get a raise

College AHA- Waiting for reply...

Hey all, I have been lurking on this thread for the past couple months and this is my first time posting!

For those of you who had a College AHA position how long you had to wait to hear back after having your last interview with a hiring manager?

The very friendly hiring manager I interviewed with told me that I should "definitely" hear back within two weeks. It has been about two and half weeks... I sent a follow up email to wwrecruting after it passed the two week mark but I haven't heard back from them either... Should I be worried?

I know I probably sound winy, I just am getting a little kooky from anxiety/excitement over possibly getting the job. XD

P.S. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted in this thread! It helped me invaluably on my interview!

I am not sure why it is taking so long for them to get back to you. I applied for the college AHA as well. I was notified and had my first interview on the 28th. Today I was sent a request to fill out my "official application" not sure what the difference is for the application. I am hoping it is a good sign though!
Hope they get back to you soon! Which school did you apply for?

Almost 15 minutes after I posted I received the request to "finish" my application. I guess they were just waiting to finish the batch of interviews until they sent out more information. After looking over this thread it certainly seems like a good sign!

I applied from the University of Florida. What about you?

I sure do hope it is a good sign. I am really excited! I applied for the Georgia State Univ. Not sure if they are doing much recruiting from here or not, I found the job on my own not through a recruiter. How did you find out about the position? When did you have your interview? Keep me posted on what happens!

Dear Apple Recruiter,

First I would like to thank you for giving my application a simple view. I understand that there are literally thousands of applicants, and I will not let your time go in vein. I will try my best to summarize myself on one page.

I have thoroughly enjoyed helping bridge the gap between technology and people. A lot of my entry level jobs early on were customer service related, anywhere from assisting customers to find the right cell phone to finding a TV that fits their needs. That was until I was able to attain my first IT position, where I could apply that to the PC side of things.

I believe that for someone to truly love what they do, they should have a passion for it. Ever since I got my first Apple G3 for my birthday, it’s been a wonderful learning experience for me. Knowing that feeling I try to pass along any needed knowledge whenever I get chance to.

I’ve been told many times before that I have a lot of patience, which is important in this case as well as life in general. I feel as humans we are not perfect, there will be times where will not finish first, make mistakes, and fail at something. But as long as we put our best foot forward, then there is no failure. Its is not the amount of times you fall, but when you choose to ascend.

I can only hope we get a chance to have a conversation. After all, the best way to get to know someone is to have a conversation with them. Good luck on your search for the best teachers you can find.

Sincerely,
me

This is a very good start, however there are a few grammatical errors and poorly placed sentences. I promise I am not being mean! Just remember this is the FIRST thing the recruiter will see. Try reading it aloud. You will hear things when reading it aloud that just roll off of the tongue in a weird way. If you want any advice feel free to ask! Great start though!

It IS a good start. I would leave out the part about not being perfect or failing. You never want to put these words out there when you are trying to sell yourself, even in the context you have here. You want to make sure the letter sells your best qualities while avoiding words with negatives. Also even though this IS a tech support position, the thing they are looking for the most is customer service and empathy. You have some great experience with technology and you have worked with customers too. Maybe talk about the joy you get from helping people. I love how you said "bridge the gap between people and technology" Talk more about your passion for facilitating those connections. Hope that helps a bit, good luck!!!!

I received the hireright email last night as well! From my lurking it definitely seems that almost everyone who completes the background check gets a job offer soon after!
I applied in October 2013, and had my interview on January 13 (the first day they were interviewing for College AHA). I found out about the position through my department head's listserv! That's awesome that you go to UF too! I hope we all get hired! :)

P.S. I havent gotten a call from anyone either, but I think that's normal!

I have a question for any of you that have been asked after your first or second interview to fill out the official apple application. I know it asks the basic questions and for your job history as well. But, does it ask for references BESIDES your job history? I read someone said it asked for 3 PROFESSIONAL references and that confused me a bit. I thought your job history WAS your professional references. Maybe they just were confused and meant to say it asked for 3 personal references?

My bottom line is does it ask for 3 personal references plus your job history or just your job history and NO personal references?

Thank you,

Joey

Use references from work. At least 1 supervisor.

Thanks, but does it ask for personal references on the application at all?

Thanks again!

Joey

The official application definitely asks for three professional references... I thought it was worded strangely too.

Awesome! It's good to know that I'm not the only one who hasn't gotten that call yet. Did you go to the info session they held? I may have spoken to you while I was there. I remember speaking to a couple of people there about how freakishly anxious I was about getting a call. And I remember one guy in particular told me his interview date was the 13th (like mine was) with some girl. Regardless, hopefully we can a group together later on! Best of luck!

I didn't go to the info session at UF last week... I attended a video info session back in November. I am pretty anxious about getting a call myself! I think we can be fairly confident we will be offered a position if they asked us to do a BGC! We should definitely get UF group together! Best of luck to you too!

Ok, thanks! So, what did you put there? Personal references or did you repeat the job info or maybe they want 3 people you've worked with?

Confusing really!

I'm confused at the process some are describing. I had my first interview on 1/28 then on 1/30 received an email from apple to fill out an "official application". Is this the same as the BGC? Some people have mentioned a "hireright" email what does this refer to? What is the pay they have offered for the college AHA for those that have received an offer? Thanks!

what kind of questions did they ask in your interview kmordhorst?

It was mostly basic stuff... a role play where someone is at the airport and can't get iphone to send an e-mail (I said to make sure not in airplane mode)
Some tech stuff.. what is RAM, what does a modem do
And then a role play about someone getting iphone wet and another about a second call to support after following directions from the rep they lost all info on the phone
I did not know all the answers and admitted it. But was sure to be kind and empathetic towards the customer. This is what they want, Apple knows that they can teach most people what they need to know on the tech side, but often people skills are something you just have, and are REALLY hard to teach.
Hope that helps. This is just what I have gathered. I am not really an expert on anything and may have just gotten lucky. ;)

Hi all!

Hello everyone!

I am a long-time lurker of this thread. I'll add in my two cents in terms of application process. I am an applicant for the AHA college position at UF (hello fellow Gators!). I've had a long and short process, ha!

I sent in my application the day after Thanksgiving.
I did not receive a questionnaire until about two weeks after that.
Then I scheduled my first and only interview for Jan 13th.
I waited about two weeks and then some days for my "Official Application".
Then about 48hrs after submitting that, I received my HireRight email.
Now I'm in the waiting process for my BGC to complete.

I look forward to the day I don't compulsively check my email for the dreaded "thanks for playing" email.

I have a quick question, though, regarding the college AHA position. Does the college AHA position start immediately? I keep seeing offer calls and immediate placement into classes but I, for some reason (can't remember if the one recruiter I spoke with said anything), assumed that I would start training in the summer.

My experience thus far has been almost identical to yours. I too am waiting anxiously for my BGC to complete, and obsessively refreshing my email ever 10mins.

You are right, the training would start around mid-summer. The person I interviewed with said that she didnt know when the exact start date would be only that it was six weeks of full time training that would change to part-time work a week before our fall semester starts.

They do post iTunes chat a few times a year, that's what I was hired on for. I LOVE it!!! Love my managers and my schedule, don't have one complaint!

:apple:

Would you happen to know when they will be hiring for iTunes Chat again?
