Background Check

Has anyone in any of the August class heard back from Apple after the background check? It's been about a week and still no word.

1. Are you referring to the August 13th class?

2. When did you have your last Skype/Facetime interview?

3. When did you get the HireRight email?

Thanks.

It's been a week for me, too. I was contacted by hireright on Monday asking for some additional information which I gave to them within hours of the email. Hoping it doesn't delay me too much!

From what it sounds like, it's running at least a week from the hireright email til you get a call from the recruiter. I was told I would be scheduled for the August 6 class so I've still got plenty of time before worry sets in. :)

Hi...how long after your 2nd Skype/Facetime interview did you receive the HireRight email for background check? Thanks.

Question for those that may know. I am currently having my background checked by hire right and my main concern is that I have a couple of misdemeanors on my record. Will this effect me? It was nothing but a simple possession charge from a few years back. I am just very concerned this is going to cost me the job, but I'm not sure.
Im trying to stay positive, but am very concerned that idiocy in my past is going to ruin my chances. I anyone knows if it will I would greatly appreciate any help with this.

I certainly don't mean to offend you BUT Apple has people beating down their doors to work for them. I doubt they would hire anyone with any type of conviction on their record when they can choose from the cream of the crop. I'm sorry to be blunt but just giving my two cents... That said, we all make mistakes in life...don't beat yourself up too much.

Same day of the interview....which I think is a little unusual. Most people get it within a day or two.

Yeah...I had my 2nd interview on Monday, still did not get HireRight email which is cool. Like you, there have been some that got HireRight email right away, few days after and a week. Just the waiting...

When I had my Skype interview, interviewer said he had to press a button to send information over or something. Not sure what that even meant. Everything went well, interviewer stated all was good, good answers...I dont think the Video was recorded as they would have mentioned it.

Thanks.

Yes, the August 6Th class. I had my face-time interview last Thursday and received the HireRight email that same day. Tomorrow is a week. HireRight did call me last Friday to verify a start date but they said everything else cleared and the check was good.

A few years back, I worked in recruiting with another company. Believe it or not, about 50% of applicants under the age of 33, have some kind of record. Some minor, some not so minor. However, if the applicant was upfront with their record, the record did not show a pattern of criminal behavior, the offense was not a felony, and there were no offenses in the last few years, we still considered the person for the job. Even if there was a felony, and depending on the type of charge and the available position, we tried to work with the person.

We all make errors in judgement. Some of us get caught. Some of us don't, but that doesn't make us any less guilty.

Hopefully yours won't haunt you too long.

Why would HireRight contact you to verify start date? That makes no sense. HireRight only does the Background checks, as for start date, HR stuff, that is not something they handle as far as I know.

Hmmm, strange that some got HireRight email same day of their 2nd interview and others have to wait...me being one of them.

When I try to log into my application on the Apple site, I get:

"Sorry, your online application cannot be updated or modified at this time. If you feel you have received this message in error, please notify your primary contact at Apple."

The called to verify a start date with my current job; I had it listed on the background check form. It was resolved though and i have a clean record never been to court or have gotten a speeding ticket.

HireRight email

Hello,

Is there anyone out there that is still waiting for the HireRight email to initiate the Background check?

If so, what date was your 2nd Interview via Skype/Facetime? How long have you been waiting for the HireRight email to initiate?

I received the email to do the Apple application and included in the email mentioned about HireRight - that you could get a reply from HireRight right away or within a week or so.

My 2nd Skype Interview - Monday July 16th
HireRight email to initiate BG Check - still waiting

Apple website employment application

Hello,

1. Does anybody know what this means:

""Sorry, your online application cannot be updated or modified at this time. If you feel you have received this message in error, please notify your primary contact at Apple."

2. Also, has anybody tried to email Apple Recruiters to inquire about anything after their interviews? If so, has anybody received responses or do they ignore you?

I'm guessing they made it so you cannot change your application since you are in the hiring process...?

I have heard of recruiters responding to emails, but they seem to be hiring like crazy right now, so it's best to be patient because I'm sure they are swamped. I know it's hard though, I've been there.

Good luck!

Cool.... cool. I am getting ZERO responses from them. Funny thing though, in their email, they say, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them. Either via email or their direct line. Going to leave the direct line alone though.

As per the HireRight email, still waiting to get the invite to fill it out. I am amazed though, some got it right away and some have to wait. Not sure why the difference. I mean, I should get it soon seeing both my interviewers said everything was great, no problems.

We shall see.

Is there anyone here currently working as an AHA? What is the overall working experience like? I don't mean the customer interactions so much, as that's pretty predictable if you have any prior customer service / tech support experience, but what is it like doing the job for Apple? Do you enjoy the process?

I am still waiting to get my background check initiated but to answer your question, I have heard nothing but great things. Its an excellent company to work for as long as you work when your suppose to and go above and beyond - everything should be fine.

I heard that you get what you put in and then some!!

I'm not beating myself up. I mean I have a few years of tier 2 support, and that was after my past problems. So hopefully that will be considered. Thank you though.

All Apple employees sign a Non-Disclosure agreement once they sign on to work with Apple. Commenting in forums about the company or their work is forbidden and cost you your job...so I doubt anyone will answer your questions.

Here's what I've read and heard in various places on the internet just by trolling for hours to get snippets of information...have you noticed it's hard to find anything out about the company?...NDA!! If there were a lot of disgruntled employees, there would be a lot more information...so, that tells you it must be a great place to work!

This is all from mostly glassdoor, various articles, etc...

Apple promotes the hard workers. The AHA position CAN be a springboard into a career at the company if you work hard and continue to learn even after training. It's not an easy job sitting still and staring at the computer for 8 hours but it sounds like you have done that before so you shouldn't have to worry about that! The managers want you to succeed because it makes them look good. If you want to progress at Apple, you have to take your career into your own hands...there is no "set career path" like at other companies where you go from one job to the next in step by step order. I have heard that they have Apple University where you can take classes about things that interest you. If you are interested in learning about something that will enhance your job skills but is not offered at Apple, they have tuition reimbursement! And I've heard they are increasing the at-home positions in all different departments by leaps and bounds...so you don't have to be by a corporate office to keep moving up.

Like popchips said....it's a job where you get out what you put in...and greatness is acknowledged by promotion from within. Sounds like an amazing place to me if you are a hard worker, self-motivated and truly care about Apple products, it's image and customers....

Any Tips, Advice for an Anxious Applicant?

Hello All!

I have recently applied to be an Apple Care at Home Advisor, and just yesterday received an email about "Job Opportunity at Apple..." It contained various questions and I felt really confident answering this email. I have found this forum and been reading every post with anticipation hoping for good news from apple. I am asking all of you for advice, how did this step go for you, what to expect. Advice on how to answer questions that are asked in the interview. Your help is greatly appreciated, I really appreciate your guys helping one another on this thread, I hope I can become part of it. Thank you everyone!

Hello everyone,
It's been almost two weeks now since I applied for Apple AHA. I applied on July 4th ans there still hasn't been any contact (phone or email). The suspense is really making my head hurt now. Is there no way to call them and ask about the application process? I tried reapplying but it says I "applied" with no other option. Is there anyone who applied around July 4th and has gotten a response or does this have to do with my regions department? sigh.

From what I heard, they are extremely busy. I had completed both Skype interviews on Monday and have not heard from HireRight as per the BackGround check yet....some have gotten it right after the interview same day, others have to wait. Just be patient.

Maybe you should change your email address and do it that way when filling out another application. Maybe you cant do that and your IP address is registered with them or something...who knows.

paperwork in!

What are you referring to? Apple New Hire? Mortgage? Loan? lol

Good luck!! You will need it. Kidding. 1st interview or 2nd?

Well, as long as you know about Apple, its products, have done similar type of work before and are a bit technical/provided Customer Service, should do fine.

Basically answer the same as you would in a normal face 2 face interview, i.e. can you recall a time you had an irate customer, etc etc....questions like this.
