Another post I've read said that there was a two week period after applying for the job that the person got an actual response from Apple. I got hired through Kelly, but I still went ahead and applied directly to Apple because I want a higher pay rate. If you don't get in through Apple, go ahead and apply through Kelly and get the experience and then apply again directly to Apple afterwards.

Oh wow. Well I guess I will continue to wait. Of course, I prefer the higher pay but if I can't get that I will take Kelly. I noticed one person on here got a response like a day later. Lucky bastard. Lol. No offense. But does Kelly provide you with equipment or do you use your own? Just curious

i hear its the exact same job you'd get form Apple but you are paid less (probably because Kelly is the middle man taking a chunk out of what Apple pays them for you). You get a Mac, a desk phone, and "special equipment" to get you familiar with a particular Apple product and its services.

Kelly provides you with an iMac and a couple of headsets. You are not allowed to uses your own equipment because the computer has to be set up with the apple system and so that the computer can be monitored remotely.

I wasn't aware that the actually give you a phone also. That's great.

I was hired through Kelly Services for this position. We all know the pay and I'm willing to deal with that, because of the opportunity:D. I heard there are performance increases and potential weekly bonuses. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about this. I'm really excited about this experience it will be my first time working from home full time. :D

I had completed the orientation with Kelly and was set to start the new advisor training on Monday. Yes, it's 17% of your pay for bonuses if you meet your quota and satisfy all of the performance metrics, which include customer feedback ratings. Wishing you the best of success!

First of all it is a TEMP service not a REAL live job. So call and email all you want. They only care about bodies honey, they aren't worried about you calling them. They get paid to follow up and for as much as they want to know about you for this and any job at this agency they should be happy that you are sitting around waiting for them to hire you.
You would think, huh? Well that wasn't the case in my situation. I opted to email and got booted.... It wasn't meant to be via Kelly. Actually when I shared the experience with one of the parents of a tutoring student, she asked me to add more time to her daughter's tutoring schedule to compensate for the salary I would have made with Kelly. I charge $35 per hour! I sincerely accepted the job for the opportunity and experience and not for the pay. So it's sort of disappointing. Most leaders do not understand the value of motivating employees.
I read about what happened to you. That completely stinks I don't like emails because they can be misunderstood so easily. I'm shocked they didn't at least talk to you about the situation. Glad to hear that you got more tutoring scheduled though. I was apprehensive about taking this job due to the pay. Thanks for the info. Good luck to you!

Nope, i don't want to talk with noobs all day for a crappy pay-check. I'm sorry, but if you can't figure it out, try google. It you still can't, then i'm sorry, but i can't help you. You are the problem!

That's why i went to a college, to do what i like and earn lots of money.

is there anyone here that will begin training with me next Monday?

i am so ready to get my equipment and start class! :D

I start Monday. I can't wait !!!.

As for pay, Apple isn't basing pay on experience/qualifications. It's strictly regional.

I applied online for the position with Apple on 7/15 and still haven't heard anything back. Does it typically take that long to hear something back? I only got a automated confirmation email that it was received. I'm also wondering if I apply with Kelly, will that kill my chances with Apple? Or is neither aware of what the other is doing? I'm just wondering if I should go ahead and apply with Kelly. I have been watching the thread and the responses vary. I also wondered if I should use another AppleID to apply to Apple. lol I dunno. I'm just kinda antsy right now and wondering what's up. Maybe I'm just a little too impatient. Any responses would be appreciated.

Maybe it depends on what city you're in but I heard back from Apple the day after I submitted a cover letter and resume on line. I also applied with Kelly Services but that was a few days before I discovered that Apple hired for the exact same position with higher pay (fewer hours to start, though) I passed all the interviews with Kelly and had to go to their regional office today to fill out I-9 stuff and background check info. I also had my first skype interview with Apple today. I have one more interview to do with Apple next week but if Kelly does offer me a position it will come in at least a week ahead of Apple (assuming I pass their second interview). I'm probably going to blow off Kelly and risk trying to get on with Apple, I really do not want to do tier 1 support for $9.00 an hour. If this was my first gig in tech support I'd probably take it but after working in IT for 20 years I'm not too keen on taking what is essentially a minimum wage job.

w00t!! any word on your equipment yet? I havent heard from Apple about the paperwork i sent it and that was sent overnight last tuesday.

on the subject of pay:
yeah, i have no idea how pay rate works. i thought it was both experience/qualifications and region and fell between a range of $10-15 an hour. i live in North Alabama and its not really expensive to live here at all. I had a work at home position with Alpine Access (Xbox) prior to this one and they gave us $9.50 an hour. I was living just fine until they started cutting hours like crazy but i was able to pay bills, save money, travel, and save up for a $1800 car repair with that job.

i expected something similar to what i got there from Apple but they really exceeded my expectations. im getting paid more than what any other general call center/tech support job would pay in the area. I'm hoping to keep this job through school and build a career with Apple.

I sent an e-mail. There is supposed to be a call from your manager and then they will ship the equipment sometime this week for anyone starting next week.

No phone, just an iMAC (nice one too), 2 headsets for computer and telephone (line), and an iPod (the iPod is returned after training).

I noticed a few positions on the Apple website for AHA managers. So, I'm sure you can build a career with them. I've read a few blogs about Apple and employees seem to be very happy working with Apple. Best of luck to you! Sounds so exciting!

This is probably a silly question but if the iPod is returned after training, isn't the Mac returned too once you terminate employment? Or do they allow you to "earn" it? Just curious.

It is my understanding that once employment ends you are responsible for sending the Mac back to the company. If you're working for Kelly Services like myself it would take a loooong time to "earn" a Mac. :)

Thanks. Yes, tutoring her child for 2 hours, 6 times a week definitely compensates the salary loss in less work hours! :D I anticipate a few more students soon and will return to substitute teaching next term, which pays $100 per day. The hardest blow is that I have never been let go from a job or assignment and this experience is a downer but I will get over it.

:D So true! I read a post on here whereas the poster mentioned that he or she managed to travel and save $1,800 for a car repair from an work-at-home tech supp income. Quite impressive! I would have only been able to travel across the street on a $9.15 per hour income. :D

I got the job!

Hello all,

I've been very busy, so I haven't been able to update you guys yet. I did eventually receive an offer call on July 13th, 2012. I've filled out all of my paperwork and was told that I should expect my equipment to arrive this Friday. I will be in the July 30th class if anybody else will be! I'm in the Atlanta area, but I actually received the call while I was in New York. In fact, I had just walked out of the 5th avenue apple store! My pay will be in line with what other people have reported here. The position is a full-time with directly through Apple (no Kelly services). If anybody has any other questions about the process I will be happy to answer them.

I received the call on Friday afternoon and actually received my e-mail offer letter on Saturday night. My physical offer packet showed up on Monday morning. After that I had a paperwork conference call on Wednesday and had my I-9 form verified at the Apple store the next day. I finally sent all of my paperwork back on Friday via Fedex next day.

well to be fair, it was $9.50 per hour. :p

it wasnt really all that hard. only having to pay like $5-10 a week for gas and hardly ever eating out for my everyday meals made saving money a breeze. when i would travel i would take the job with me and stay for a while (months sometimes). i would just visit family and friends in various states (GA, SC, AL, TX, and CA) so i wouldnt pay for hotels or anything.

on another note:
spoke to my TL today. he seems pretty cool and has been with Apple for 4 years now. that gives me hope that i can turn this job into a career. :)

I remember reading a post on here from "bamamom"I think who said she kept contacting the recruiting department by email to get through and she eventually got in. She originally applied in January but got hired in June. I'm wondering how she did so when there's no contact information for HR or Recruiting dept and you have to know a name to reach somebody. I found that to be strange but I guess. Plus I wouldn't think that constantly bothering HR would get anybody any further.

I'm 142 miles from the nearest apple store. So I don't think you HAVE to be super close by.
