Just had my second interview. Feel like it went great. He said I should hear from Recruiting & Staffing by Friday. :)

----------

I'm 142 miles from the nearest apple store. So I don't think you HAVE to be super close by.

can you send me a message. I want to ask you something but don't want to post it on the forum. Thanks!!

Does anyone know if you have to live in the same area as the position? My area isn't hiring but the areas close to me are (different state). Im talking about applying directly through Apple. Thanks!!

from what i heard you had to be 100 miles or less from the place you chose when applying.

im 99.2 miles away from Birmingham, AL.

Thanks! I actually just received my HireRight email a little bit ago? That's a good sign right?

----------

@Happyfeet21 I just figured out that I can't send a pm until I at least have five posts. I still need one more after this current post, So it may be a little bit before I can pm you because I don't want to just spam the board to get my last post.

Thats what i heard too. Previous postings used to say that too. But now when I look at the job postings it doesn't say so I was wondering if they changed that.

Maybe because they normally only have Apple stores in large cities, and not all talent lives in a large city. Lol.

I believe it was because of the minimum post count thing @happyfeet

Funny thing is I applied on 6/15 using a new AppleID I created that day. I have yet to hear ANYTHING back. However, today I decided to apply with my existing AppleID and within an hour & a half I got an email from a recruiter. She listed 12 questions in the email and told me to respond back to those. I was shocked to get anything back. Is that always the first step? With the 12 questions in the email? They just asked about experience, why I wanted to work for them, the pay and hours, availability for interview today or tomorrow, etc. Hopefully I gave all the right answers and I can go somewhere from here.

Yes that's the first step of the process.

I'm surprised @ the appleID issue.

That is very interesting Taby. I applied since July 4th and haven't gotten a response from them. Maybe I should make a new account and apply for the same position and see where that takes me. Good luck to you and wish me luck.

Whew. I was starting to get worried because like you I was told that if selected I would be in the August 6th training class and my BG screening was submitted on last week as well. My main concern is being able to give my current employer the appropriate 2 weeks notice...but hopefully we'll hear something soon.

yeah I know it takes a long time but geez it seems like forever. I thought it was weird how I got no response with one AppleID but a very fast one with a different one. I answered it last night but haven'theard anything back yet.I'm guessing it takes some time from there. So hopefully we will get in. Good luck.

I finished all my paperwork last Tuesday and went to the local office to complete my I9 and initiate my background check. Called all over today to find out what the hold up was. I live in a city where it is hard to find a job and don't want to pass up anything else if they are not going to move forward. I was told that I passed the background check but 1 thing was under REVIEW. I was like , well? what is it maybe I could clear it up for you. They don't tell you anything and it makes me wonder if they just hold you in suspense if they need to fill another class. I am already a little skeptical about the whole thing and would like to know if anyone else has been told that information.
After haggling with the verifications department I finally got the go ahead and start my training on august 13th:)

Yes, I'm over 200 miles from the city that I applied for the position for and I have gone through the interview process, so I don't believe it matters. Just apply for the closest one to you, even if it's over 100 miles. Just to reiteratate what someone else said....COVER LETTER is SUPER important. ;)

You reported in a previous post the hiring manager told you you had the job?
She didn't tell me that, but told me great training I would receive from Apple. Then when I got the hireright email I thought I was "in", but starting to doubt now.

Correct the hiring manager told me I had to job and to wait to hear from hireright and proceed from there. So I guess I'm waiting till Apple replies back. It seems that most who make it to the hireright stage get hired.

I dont recall any email like that.

for those who havent been contacted:
Apple seems to be busy hiring a lot of people and it seems like a lot of things in the recruiting process are changing. Its taking them a good while to call people it seems and at times they're not contacting you at all.

I submitted my new hire paperwork over a week ago (overnight no less) and hadnt received confirmation of them getting it or that my equipment was shipping until my Team Manager called me yesterday saying that they would have called me if things werent cool and that people attending class on the 30th should have their equipment no later than the 27th. I still didnt know it was coming until FedEx called me today telling me it would be here tomorrow!

if you are worried about your status please contact your recruiter by phone or email.

I applied on Tuesday evening and got a response about a little over an hour later. Then Wednesday instead of her responding to the email, she randomly called me about it. She confirmed everything and then set me up for a facetime interview today. (I wonder why they do faceTime and Skype instead of regular phone interviews. oh well). So I'm wondering what's after this interview (if i pass). She told me to make sure I'm confident in my answers and brush up on extras about Apple and tech. So I've got 3 hours to get busy studing.

It makes the experience more personable. and after first interview through Skype, is second interview through Skype.

definitely follow their advice. also, they want to check your surroundings since where you skype from is most likely the location you'll be working from. i liked it more than a phone interview. its much easier to sell yourself when the person can look you in the face/eyes so to speak.

in other news:
my equipment just came in!!
