gonna work for apple in sweden and start Mars 13th. What kind of computer have you guys got??

kind of nervous now after reading that post about someone not getting it when they thought everything went well..I applied a couple weeks ago and here is what happened for me.

-got an email asking for more information
-sent email and received a call the same day asking random questions (about 5 min)
-she then scheduled me for a skype interview for exactly a week later
-skype interview went very good and i was told i would receive an email with a link to register for my next skype interview
-soonest interview was 4 days later (monday the 4th)
-person interviewing me was very nice and friendly and overall the interview went great
-here's where im confused..most people say they were told 5 days or up to 3 weeks to hear something..i was told that i would be contacted within 24-48 hours
-i received the background check email monday which i submitted monday night
-its now 4 days later and i havent heard anything back

ive also heard that they contacted my previous employers
not sure why i was told 24-48 hours.. very nervous and excited to hear back

Took almost 3 weeks to hear back after the bgc finished.

Isn't that 24-48 for the background check mail? What is your start date? It really depends on your start date.

dont worry you've got the job..now it's just the waiting game for the offer call..unless u have criminal charges..my background check had employment date discrepancies and everything still went fine....the wait after the background check is the hardest. that other person didnt make it to the background check stage. the hireright email IS the 24-48hrs contact your recruiter mentioned. You will be hired unless you're a felon. Reassurance is my gift to you.

Well, my heart just sank into my stomach... I just got the dreaded "Thank you for your time and interest in Apple" email. Not really sure what happened there, but I did not make it. I felt like everything went really well, too. So bummed.

Wow. So sorry. I really thought you made it in.
I know that feeling. I felt like I was
Going to get sick.
Guess we are this road together again. Please
Reapply. That's all you can do. I've already done that so now just waiting...again

Sample responses to your questions above:

This is only my opinion based on my interview and how things went for me in the application process. I'm currently in the "my background check came back clean and I'm waiting with bated breath for an offer call" camp. Hopefully this helps! I'm definitely rooting for you :)

Thank you so much for your sample questions. I have definitely kept these answers to help me next time. I just have to be more
Prepared for questions on times I fixed this or fixed that... I was so stumped. Couldn't think of good enough examples.

Least you try to go through with the progress and I am still waiting on a answer

What are you waiting to hear? For your 2nd interview. Or 3rd?

You'll be doomed to a life of misery and despair forever haunted by those dark and cruel words, "if only".

Just kidding, you'll just move on to other things.

That's what Job said.

Ah, how your sharp-witted bitterness and well-timed sarcasm is like a balm to my Apple-strained soul, AG.

I love this stinkin' thread, man. <3

Oh no.. so sorry:( Your recruiter sounded pretty positive about your interviewing/hiring process so this surprised me..

Yeah I was surprised, too... Not really sure what could have happened... Everything was very positive.

Ohhhhh, man, Geek. That seems really wrong...
Have you considered contacting your recruiter (the person from your 1st Facetime interview) and just asking what s/he thinks may have gone wrong? In the vein of, "I wasn't selected for this position, but it would really help me if you could give me some insight as to the reason(s) why. It may help in future job opportunities..."
They have all been pretty open about the process; maybe that could help...? Especially if you reapply.

I hadn't considered doing that. However, I just sent an email to the recruiter so we will see if she replies back. Thanks for the idea. :)

Apple at home advisor.

Ok I applied for a job with apple. The position was an at home advisor.
I went through 3 interviews and did very well. However, I messed up big time on two things.

I put the wrong start date and end date for my last employer. I was off by a lot. The company they use to conduct background checks informed that was my only problem.

Now, when I copy a copy of my background check. My criminal background showed up. I have a petty theft that I am in the process of getting off my record. However, when filling out my background information. They only asked if I am a felon. I am not and nothing shows up. They did not ask if I had a minor offence on my record. I would have been truthful and told me.

Now I would like to know from people who work for apple. Does apple not hire people whom have a minor offence on their record. Oh, also I was not guilty. Anyways, do they care about a minor offence. Even though they did not ask.

Also, how long do I have to wait to reapply for apple. Because I want nothing more than to work for this company.

Now what steps can I take? Please help me.

Okay, your comments kinda play into my own fears a little. I am a little confused, though. Have you received a definitive "thanks but no thanks" email from Apple already?

Yes you were helpful! :) Totally a bummer of a day, but I am trying to figure out what would make me more... I don't know... special to them I guess? I have no idea what went wrong as it all seemed to go very well. I guess I am just a little lost more than anything.

First off, excuse my sappiness, you ARE special. I know my third interview was with a guy who I hit off REALLY well with. We had a similar sense of humor and he made me feel very comfortable. If I had interviewed with somebody different who I didn't "click" with as easily, who knows, I may not have been offered a position. The same could be said for you, and hopefully your next interviews will go better. Don't let not getting this job at this moment get you down.

Interesting, I thought you still could get this position as long as you are not a felon. Did you actually get denied?

Thanks, iFarmer, for the encouraging words. I am trying to take as much as I can from this experience and use it towards future opportunities. The person I had my third interview with seemed nice enough, she made small talk about our different locations and stuff like that; however, she seemed very uncomfortable and a little nervous the entire time. One question that REALLY threw me off that she asked was this. She started off by saying "This isn't for Apple" and proceeded to ask it. "If I owned a t-shirt store and a customer called and asked how to fold a t-shirt... what would you tell them?" I followed up by first giving a speel about no matter how simple a question might be, I would let that customer know that I understood and would do everything I could to help them with it and not make them feel like it is a stupid question. I then proceeded to explain how to fold a t-shirt. That part made me feel a bit silly and awkward. I will say that. Others were stuff like, if I were your mother and I called you and my printer wasn't working, what are 3 things you would suggest? How do you reset a router? What experience do you have with iPods? How would you explain ram? What would you tell me if my computer wouldn't turn on? The rest was customer service related.

Crap...that was kind of insensitive of me. I'm sorry, Geeky. But I totally agree with iFarmer. So much of this is based on how one or two interviewers (people) feel about you, which makes it very subjective. It seems each experience as an applicant is unique.
Keep calm and apply on.

Nooooooooo not at all. :) I didn't take anything you said like that. I very much agree as well. I very much appreciate you and everyone else taking the time to talk with me.

I answered a similar question very recently.

I have two misdemeanors on my record that shows in the bgc and I was hired. I wouldn't think this would be an issue in your case either.

You don't need to do anything unless they asked for follow up information except wait, what could be 2-3 weeks just a heads up, for them to call and make you an offer.

Got the iMac and the other box today! Am still rearranging my room to get ready for Monday. I can't believe I'm refraining from setting up the iMac except I haven't a place to put it just yet. So freaking happy and excited!

What type of imac did you get?

For future reference you might want to go to ssa.gov and request a list of all of the jobs you had and your respective hiring dates. I've done so many contracting jobs for so many employers that's there's no way I could remember them off the top of my head.
