I had my interview on Tuesday and yesterday I got an email saying:

"Thank you for your interest in our Apple At-Home Advisor position. We appreciate you taking the time to apply for this opportunityand as you can imagine we have received a large number of qualified applicants for this role. At this time we have chosen to move forward with other candidates but we encourage you to look for other opportunities at apple.com/jobs. We wish you the best in your future endeavors."

I applied like 10 times for different At-Home Advisors positions, is that email for the ones that I didn't got an interview or for the one that I did?:confused::confused:

I have applied many many times, and the only time I got that email was a few months ago after I interviewed (and didn't get the position). However, I have seen others on the forum accidentally getting the email, and then getting an offer for the job.

I would suggest asking your recruiter if they know the status of your application that you interviewed for.

Good luck!!

question

Good evening: I just have a quick question. I applied as an apple at home adviser, and have not yet heard anything. I applied through kelly services for the same position. During the interview, I asked the kelly recruiter if it was a temp to hire position. I was told that it was not. Has anyone ever been hired by apple from a temporary position with kelly services? Thanks in advance for all responses.

When I had my interview through Kelly services, I was asked if I would be willing to commit to the job for at least a year. So I would say you're at least going to be there for a year.

So, did you take the job with Kelly services? And if yes was you eventually given a permanent position directly with Apple ? Thanks for your reply

I just had my interview on the 1st I'm waiting for the background check. So not hired yet. However I don't see why you couldn't, if your good at your job and work hard I see it as possible.

My recruiter's name is Joe.

I am not a student hire. I dont know if i am CPU or IOS, because I haven't received the email yet and I was too excited to ask. I am starting 5/20.

If you are starting 5/20 You are CPU T1. as for a June class or 5/6 class, I dont know.

Hireright

I had a question about Hireright and there process for the past employment. When and if we get the link to start our background check... What is all typed in that link? of course DOB SSN etc. But do YOU provide your past employment info or does apple type in that information then they just check that from your resume? I hope that makes since. another thing. If so, does that report (all the employers they check) is that report sent back to apple other than your clearance from any criminal charges.

After my 3 interviews, I received a request from apple to complete an application. After i submitted it, I received the hireright request. As i was completing the required information, I noticed my past employers were already populated from my application, including salary for each position (which they check).

Apple will receive once they have completed their backgrounnd check. This check consits of 1) past employment 2)national sexual predator registry 3) nationwide check for any felonies 4)local jurisdictions for felonies or misdemenors. You can click on your completed report and see the details.

Oh my gosh, that was alot of help. Thank you so much! And well cause theres a discrepency on my resume (long story) with Best Buy, I didnt lie and say I didnt work there, cause I did.. But anyways, I rather have other employers check all that information with HireRight. Awesome, Thank you so much :)

If you hire on with Kelly, this is not a temp to hire position. You will be permanent with Kelly while servicing Apple. As such, you will not be eligible for the apple benefits. I interviewed with Kelly and asked all of these questions. Yes, they ask if you can commit to this position for a year. I imagine that has at least something to do with the high turnover rate on call centers and work at home jobs that they want to deter those who are just looking for something as an in-between for a month or two.

I hope that answers your questions :)

Considering there are non students signed up for this class I don't believe this is the case.

I meant something more like the possibility that they may have a limited number of instructors that they are using for both corporate and student classes. The student classes seem to be limited to the summer months, which would mean some of their resources for training are diverted to those student classes. :)

Hmm, that's odd; Kelly didn't ask me to stay for at least a year.

Kelly did ask me if I could commit to a year but I turned them down since Apple had already hired me. Apple itself has a very high turnover with this job; I imagine that Kelly with their crappy wages and no healthcare has an astronomically high turnover rate.

I'm telling you... You DO NOT want to do this job for anything less than $14 or higher per hour. Unless you happen to enjoy pain and suffering that is.

Common sense would suggest that Apple and Kelly have some sort of understanding that Apple won't hire Kelly employees, at least for a given period of time.

Apple uses Kelly for the same reason that every company uses a temp service - to take a pass on the cost of benefits and reduce the expense of training in a high turnover environment. Kelly works with Apple for the same reason that every temp service works with any company - to earn profits by skimming wages off the top from their employees.

If Apple was out there picking off Kelly employees to hire, Kelly would be eating the cost of interviewing and vetting and whatever else they do. It wouldn't make sense. Apple would be cannibalizing the part of the arrangement that benefits Kelly while maintaining the part that benefits Apple. I don't doubt that Apple would enjoy this setup, but Kelly isn't run by complete neophytes either. They've been in business for a while.

Whether anybody will tell you or not, I would be willing to bet that part of Kelly's contract with Apple stipulates that no Kelly temps will be hired by Apple within a given period (probably a year or so) of their start date.

The only folks that came on from temp-to-hire positions (from what I've heard) are those from Volt when they had a contract with Apple. Those are the only "success" stories from the temp side. And these are folks who worked in a physical location (traditional call center).

I was with Kelly just long enough to complete training and nesting. My first week on the phone told me the pay was too little for what is required. That coupled with no Apple perks and no medical benefits was a downer. Then again, even if there were benefits, you wouldn't be able to afford them given the wage.

So, for those going the Kelly route, absorb all you can in training and keep applying to Apple. You'll be at an advantage when you do get hired.

*I didn't mention Kelly to Apple.
