How hard to move?

Okay so I am in the June 17th CPU class and we might be moving to Orlando. My question is two parts. 1st, is it better to move before I start training or after I finish training? and 2nd, What's the process? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I've been lurking this thread since I applied for the PT -AHA position on the apple website and was wondering if anyone else is in a similar boat.

I applied on 5/16
Got first call on 5/17
Interview on 5/22

It was suppose to be a face-time interview but the interviewer just called me normal on the phone. He said it was going to be a full-time job paying $14.50 even tho I applied for PT, and that the training would be sometime in June~ Maybe the 10th or so... cant quite remember.

He did not seem very interested in doing the interview at all and wanted to hurry up and get it over with. Typical questions, what is ram what is empathy.. everything pretty much easy to answer. Before it was over he mentioned that their group gets together at the end of the week to go over the recruits and I should hear something soon.

I've read quite a number of people getting the next step email shortly after ending the call or sometime that day. Does apple have a tendency to leave people hanging that they don't want or is it the holiday that's just messing with my brain?

I am so upset that so many people apply one day and are interviewing the next with less education and/or experience then me due to a pdf uploaded resume. If those resumes aren't acknowledged, why would should they be excepted. ... I really want this position and to represent Apple!

But I am seeing kids in high school, not even graduated, getting an opportunity to interview. *sigh* ... phew~ Here :apple: here ! please.

I think my only mistake is that I was too professional, reading all these posts from kids in college with no real world exp. getting the jobs because they are spunky and loaded with caffeine. Since It's basically a call center job with fancy wording It innately would have higher turnover.

I cannot understand why they wouldn't want someone with 15 years of XP that is looking at this job as something for the long-run, over someone younger and hyper that will stay 1-6months at best.

Well, I'll say I've had 2-3 years of customer service experience and degree in computer networking and Microsoft certification and lifetime experience with all operating systems and troubleshooting.

I uploaded a PDF resume and it was accepted guys! I don't know really what you mean.

You are making an assumption that is based on zero facts.....I'm sure even such a small start up like Apple with its limited resources has the software chops to do do a simple keyword search on a pdf.....With your superior education and experience you should know how very easy it is to do....especially since it says you can upload a .pdf.

Seriously....You are upset that someone seeking a job for money to live on is fortunate enough to interview for a position?? We are all here for them same reason....let's not be bitter about someone else's good fortune. I too had a very rapid interview process....yet my BGC has for some reason taken 2 weeks so far and has an estimated 2 weeks to go, so I am seriously doubting my chances of receiving an offer. The doubts are mainly due to all of those stories of folks whose BGCs were completed in 24-48 hours.

But if I don't receive an offer so be it, even though I am desperately hoping that I get a chance to prove myself at this job. I still root for the folks, who just like the majority us, are checking their email 47 times an hour for THAT email...who constantly refresh this forum page to read each new post for a smidge of encouragement or who post to commensurate with our fellows. We are all in this together....we all started at the same page, with the same form to fill out....so let's not be bitter or upset at those who get one step closer, or even get, the job that we all hope to get.

Got my offer call! Oh thank you Jesus. Was at 7 tonight. Start July the first. Now got to wait on a darn email. The heck?

Congratulations! I guess they didn't mind that you haven't graduated? My background check didn't say anything about my school. All they verified was criminal, social security, and my jobs. Hopefully I get a call tomorrow since you got yours tonight.

I'm Mr. Question lately but how does the pay work?

Do we get paid bi-weekly and do we get our first paycheck during training or directly after?

I assume it's directly mailed to us or direct deposit.

Does apple always bless you with a " we dont like you email " if your not hired.

I just hate waiting in limbo for a job that suits me perfectly.... and having other interviews buggers it up if I accept one job then apple out of the blue YOUR HIRED!

I would REALLY REALLY prefer the Apple at home job since I'm disabled.

But since that goofball angry at kids about getting interviews derailed my initial post...

I'm still so bummed this didn't work out. It would probably be easier if I'd at least started working for Kelly already but I have so much time on my hands right now that I just keep thinking about it. Oh well, nothing I can do until November at this point. Then I just have to hope that having worked for Kelly for six months doesn't make it an automatic "No".

Did you get the "Thanks for playing" email ? :(

I believe you are correct about being overly professional during the interview process. What I have gathered reading these threads is that they are wanting you to be yourself. They want to see that you are a people person and that you can empathize with the customer.

After reading through these threads, they have totally taken the nervousness out of the scenario for me if and when I am offered an interview. Sure, I would still be a bit nervous because I would have a lot riding on the position and what it offers to me and my financial situation, but seeing those they have hired, I know I am as skilled so that helps a bit.

Superman4385 I don't know how to do a double quote on here folks! Best I know to do just now ...

Your education certainly trumps mine ! lol ... Very reassuring to know they picked up your PDF resume. Thank you for letting me know this !!! Seems they are choosing a very diverse group of education and experience backgrounds to fill the positions which makes sense since the planet is filled with diversity and also further explains to me why they are No. 1 in customer service. Very happy to hear they picked up your PDF. Very happy! :apple:

Yikes! I certainly didn't intend that post to come across to you or anyone that I am bitter or upset with any applicant that has been given the opportunity. I was upset that my best resume is saved on a PDF file after someone on here was kind enough to let me know that they had thought perhaps the likelihood of the scanning process to pick my resume up might be slim to none. That was the assumption I was going on as no one else at the time replied to that particular post and I had not seen a mention of PDF anywhere else on the thread. Now that I have heard differently, I am feeling much better about the situation.

I also do not think my qualifications are Superior but they are stellar in their own right. There are many here that have years of experience directly in the field where I do not. I know this. It is comforting to see Apple choosing a little of every background and I have posted before how happy I was for the younger generation that have been given this opportunity.

My apologies for coming off in a manner that would suggest anything otherwise.

Very happy for you and your family ! What an amazing opportunity ! Apple must have seen something very special within you. You should be very proud of yourself :) What a bright future you have for yourself! I bet you will really go far with this company !

Rock on !
