I think I'm gonna go crazy if I have to wait two full weeks for an answer! Had my third interview last Friday still no bgc e-mail starting to think I'm not gonna get it. :(

question about BGC

has anyone ever had a snag in their background and had to contest it through kelley.. i had a misdemeanor from 06 and it came up. I had a few vicodin in my possession and was arrested for it.. they sent out a letter to me to contest it. What do I when I get that letter?? I am not a drug addict nor a criminal. That incident happened 7 years ago.It was an unfortunate situation and I can not take it back or make it go away. also the application only asked for felonies of 7 yrs. so I did not lie.

I'm not saying you lied but you may want to check your math. Technically you are still within that 7 year range depending on what month in 2006 you were formally charged. 2006 + 7 years = 2013. Not sure what to tell you about the letter since I never received one. Good luck to you.

----------

My resumé was a rather simple .txt listing of experience that I put together in Notepad. Take that for what it's worth, but I think the skills and knowledge are a little more relevant than the format. Most big companies these days are not sniffing your resumé to see if it has perfume or feeling it to check the quality of the paper on which it's printed. As far as I can tell, the same can be said for the format. You're submitting it online and they're using automated software to scan for key words and phrases.

Further to that, I had no experience that most would have considered relevant. I'm not really inclined to get too personal here, but I had a service background. Computers were never more than a hobby. If you've read this thread for a while, then you probably already know that service is more important than tech knowledge for this particular gig. Keep that in mind as you decide what to emphasize in your .pdf or .doc or whatever you decide to use.

As curratech already noted, it's seven years for the background check.

Thank you for your response. I was only asking about the format because it is MS versus .pdf and I'm submitting it to :apple:...... that is why I asked the question. Just trying to get a general consensus on what format others submitted. Wasn't looking for resume advice.

(It was April 2006 and it was a misdemeanor) so that makes 7 yrs this April?

Hmmm, now I know what to expect, since I'll be a week behind you (June 17th.). Congrats and have fun.

That's kinda the point though. Apple doesn't care whether or not you use MS Office. The vast majority of people do and they are aware of this. Whatever format you have handy will be fine. I promise. If you have a .pdf, that will work. If you have a .doc, that will work too.

I am curious to know (and obviously I have a little time yet but would like to get an idea of what to expect) about how the initial training starts. Please update as you can. My paperwork session is on Monday, my class is July 1st. Since we do not open the equipment until that day, I am wondering the process of the first day of training (do they have you go to a particular website and log in like an online college course etc?) Would love to hear feedback!

You nailed it. You will receive all the information you need about what to do on your first day from your Team Manager prior to your start date, though. It's very straight-forward, actually.

This is true. Check with your state to see what its stance on this is. The general rule of thumb is that if the notary stands to benefit from the "transaction" then they are disqualified from notarizing it. (Not that your i9 has to be notarized to begin with but some notaries are oftentimes unnecessarily finicky if you live in a place with heavy
regulations.)

I was lucky enough to have in my ~family a life-long family friend who is a notary because of their profession and they do not benefit in any way from them verifying my IDs to fill out my i9.

You are not required to get your I9 notarized.

Can't believe I keep getting overlooked lol ... I must be doing something wrong. I've revised the cover letter, keywords, applied to several locations at different times of the day, of the week but nuddin. I've checked for typo's, missing fields, etc. Still nuddin.

Been in sales and customer service for 28 years !

Positive attitude, patience, understanding, education, a bit of experience directly in the field, solid work history, accomplishments and skill sets... I sold software and hardware packages for gawd's sake.

I've set up a call center, worked in chat service, still, nuddin. :( *sigh* Of course, they don't know that little bit because I can't get an interview!!!

Any advice ???

Thanks for that update, I really appreciate it! That was what I figured, but I don't like to assume anything :) Thanks for sharing! I am looking forward to the class to start! :D

I don't think anyone in this thread ever said you are.

Have you even gotten the survey at the e-mail you use for your Apple ID? Nothing will be sent to the e-mail you put on your resume but it will be sent to your Apple ID e-mail. I overlooked their response at first because of that.

A suggestion would be to load your resume's "Skills" section with keywords such as "customer service" "customer care" "call center" "sales" "technology" and the like since most all companies use software to skim through resumes and cover letters for certain keywords. For example "experience selling software" could be re-written to say "extensive sales experience in the area of software."

Other than that, I don't think anyone can really give any advice since we're not Apple lol. Have you applied for the iTunes chat position?

Also, I don't think you have to apply in your time zone?? Your entire schedule will be CST so you will have to adjust anyway. I may be wrong but I don't think this is a rule.

For those concerned about moving prior to your start date, best to inform them early of your intentions. I lucked out by not having to push my start date back, but it seems like it may be a possibility. Also, expect paycut/payraise depending on the area.

I applied around the beginning of the year. Just got my questionnaire about 2 weeks ago. Been reading up on this forum the whole time. Have my 3rd interview scheduled and am pretty nervous, but I think I'm as prepared as I can get (thanks to all the useful posts here!). They said the job starts in July. Never mentioned a specific date though.

Good advice! I'll take it! Thank you! Since the resume is on a pdf file and this W8 comp doesn't have anything except notepad, I guess I'll have to do my best to make another with that lackluster software and keep applying.

Haven't heard a peep from Apple. Honestly, it doesn't make any sense to me given what I am seeing. I will keep trying. Thanks for your 2 cents. Certainly can't hurt.

Congratulations to you !!!

I was able to push my start date back. Will be attending the 7/8 class now. Pushed back so we can get moved to Clermont. Pay stayed the same. Not sure if it's iOS or CPU yet though. Anyone else on the 7/8 class?

I had honestly forgotten about it. Was laying down to go to bed and heard my email client ding. Got up, saw it, and was really excited. Hopefully I can pull this interview off well in the next few hours. :D

And one more thing. I really have no idea about this, it's just a theory. The 28 years of customer service may actually not be such a great thing. Apple may want you to do things their way. Since you have been in the industry so long, they may assume you will continue to do things your own way, rather than learning how to do it the "Apple" way.

Again, that's just a guess. But it's the only thing I can think of. You seem like the perfect candidate to me.

I only use one email! ha! imagine that in this day and age. But! and that's a BIG but, you were completely right! I just took a good look at my resume and it is geared toward administration (taking for granted the customer service) ! That is exactly where I was going wrong!!!

Thank you SO much. I probably wouldn't have taken a second look if it weren't for your reply. Rewriting now with HIGH hopes !!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Hey, maybe that'll be the subject line on an email he receives soon and then he won't have to worry about missing out on the vacation.

Nah, the response I got was more like, "Oh, you have a vacation scheduled the week of the 15th? That's no big deal. We can push you back a week. Thanks for letting us know, though."

So it isn't a death sentence but certainly not something I'd reccommend trying.

Had my third interview via FaceTime today. It went well. Was told I should hear something in the next couple of days... now I'm refreshing my inbox waiting for a hire right email like a mad man. This seems to be the point where most people get the "Thanks for playing" email if they aren't gonna make it, so I'm very nervous. :(

Had my third one today as well. I feel like it went ok for the most part. He gave me a bit of feedback for one of the role plays saying I was understanding and related to the problem, but could have been empathetic on a specific part ( a pretty big part not related to the technical problem ). Other than that, I believe it went ok. But that's the most important thing, so I'm not so sure. If I don't get a Hire-Right email soon. I guess I'm gonna be looking for that "thanks for playing" email. :(
